Look what Hubby made for my 696 for my birthday; a Custom Tri-Color Tank Stripe.

He had fabricated this (unknown to me) on a spare tank trim and surprised me with the finished product. We just installed it this morning and even got the Tank Guard to line up with the original one.

Whoo Hoo! I'm loving it!

Yes, all paint.

He base coated everything in white, then masked and added red and green stripes. Clearcoated everything after.

It's silky smooth and the gloss matches the tank sheen very well.

Don't let that Ebay one spoil your feelings about it being original . If your hubby took the time to custom fab the one that you have, it IS original and way better than one that any MFG would make - it has a personal touch!

Happy Birthday!

Great find Ungeheuer, and here I thought I had an original.
You do have an original  waytogo  Beautifully hand rendered with great care.

That somewhere else there exists a similar incarnation does not detract from what you have in any way.  Wasnt at all my intention to rain on your parade  Embarrassed.

No harm done Ungerheuer, I know I have a lovingly crafted original design, but after seeing a nearly identical stripe on another white Monster in the eBay listing I had to inquire of the seller where he got his Tri-Color Stripe, his reply:

It's a standard centre section that I had custom sprayed at Big Steve's Paint shop, who I was put on to by Nelly at Cornerspeed. It cost approx £150 ($230) for the paint job alone.  Shocked

Looking at our costs:

Tank section - $30
Paints and painting accessories - $50
Beautifully hand rendered with great care - PRICELE$$
