Borrowed a bit of knowledge in the way of an oil filter cross reference posted on the DML by Greg Mo.

This is a cross reference for oil filters which suppose to fit most ducatis, I found it on-line and recently bought the NAPA power sports filter SP7013 and it works waytogo

* AMSOil SMF 132/132C this suppose to fit, but amsoil is about to release the real Mc Coy for our Ducs soon
* EMGO 10-26980
* Fram PH6019, PH6074 Fram in general has very low quality filters, not recommended
* K&N KN-153
* NAPA PS7013 this one was about $9, and better then OEM
* WIX 57013

I've personally used the K&N KN-153 on my S2R 800 since my 600 mile check.  I like it because it has a hex head pattern on the bottom for easier removal.

FYI, the NAPA filters are made by WIX, so they are identical other than part number.  Carquest filters are also made by WIX, so they can cross-reference the WIX or NAPA numbers (the Carquest filter number is 84013 and only comes in a chrome finish.  This may or may not be to your liking, but will work if you're in a bind.)

I remembered how to do everything except how much oil to add at the end.  Its not in the Duc manual and not mentioned in LT's book since he covers a wide range of bikes.  This video says that you will add 3 quarts, maybe a bit more.  He added 3 and then checked the level and then ended up adding quite a bit more.

For me, 3 quarts was way too much.  I had to siphon some off.
I have a 2002 M750S and my bike took 2 quarts plus ~600mL of oil

Did you change the oil filter? Did you let the bike drip for a few mins? You can try to start the bike up let it cycle a bit, then check to see how much you are at. My bike filed up 3L right at the low. When the bike warms up its right midway.

I just purchased a NAPA filter, and it was manufactured by Mann Germany, not Wix.  (Unless Wix and Mann are related?)  Good quality stuff, either way.

he never mentioned that you should try to change the oil when the engine's hot.
and you should just hand tighten the oil filter or that thing will be a b*tch to loosen the next time.

I like the instructional vids from ducatitech. I learned how to clean and keep lubbed my chain through one of their videos.

Yeah, nice video!

Does anyone know where to get new crush washers?  Are they a standard part you can find at the HW store or do I need to buy ones from my dealer?
