Title: Little League
Post by: Kopfjäger on August 26, 2008, 11:05:05 AM
A 9 yr. old Pitcher was told he could no longer play because he was too good. (40mph fastball) The other Parents didn't want there little boys getting struck out all the time.   :'( :'( His Coach started him in a game the other day anyway. So....wait...listen to this. The other Team walked off the field refusing to play.  [roll]

the thing thats sucks in this....

if a kid can pitch well.... other kids get better as they adjust to what they are given. it's how things work. for parents and a coaches to take the kids off the field in protest, it sends a horrible message.

were the olympics not just on?

was there a group of parents out there pissed that Phelps kicked ass?

wow... amazing..

that kid will be a major league player someday, then those parents will wish they had done different...
wouldn't he up the level a bit and make everyone else better players too?

what kind of nonsense is that?
if my kid isn't the star, he's not playing at all?  [roll]

Exactly what I was thinking!!

OR..

the opposing team does this..they have their pitcher hit the star pitcher in the arm and break it!!   Problem solved!
;)

Just kidding but that is pretty much what happened when I was in Pony League.  I was the pitcher and their star pitcher was up to bat when I accidently hit him in the arm.  He came back to pitch for another 2 innings but was then taken out.  :-\  I found out a few years later (from a kid who was on their team) that I broke the kid's arm.   :-[

Anyway, the other team, their parents and coaches should be ashamed of themselves for sending this message!!

Unfortunately, accidents do happen.  My case in point!   :-X  That's what helmets are for!  Take the kids to the batting cages for crist sake.  Help them improve their skills!!

I'm sure that there were kids who pitched as fast as this kid..if not faster..when we played in little league but not everyone had a radar gun at their disposal to clock it!!   [roll]

i was reading this earlier.

i keptthinking back to when i played pee wee football and they made all the fat kids play a level up with the older kids because they weighed too much.

i don't know that it would work in baseball, but move the kid up a level if they are so upset. don't ban him from playing and using his natural talent. encourage that and give him the chance to get better.

or put your little snot noses back in t-ball.

I agree on this. But sometimes somebody dominates a sport... its called natural ability... let the kid play!

They did that when I was a kid too!  I played with the 12 year olds when I was 10 and so did a buddy of mine.  When my friend was 12, he threw 70mph!!!  There were acctually scouts watching our little league team play because he was so good. He hit 27 homeruns our last year.  As a 12 year old he was 5'7 150lbs.  He peaked early, and never grew anymore = end of MLB dreams.

We were two games away from making it to the LL world series.   :'(

To that other D bag coach and parents   TEACH YOUR KIDS HOW TO BUNT!  It's a lost art.   This is so sad...  [bang]

+1  They moved kids up grades in school if they were too smart.  My nephews were moved up in snowmobile racing last year because they were beating all their peers.  LOL..they beat the older kids too!   [laugh]

Yes, natural ability.  Some kids have it and some don't!

Parents..   [roll] [roll] [roll] [roll]

I am glad the other team walked off.  It shows a message to that kid that not everyone thinks he is so great.  I hope he learned his lesson.  Maybe from now on he'll start walking kids if the score gets too high that way they can tie and everyone wins!!!!  Hooray!!!!  Then everyone can have a trophy.
