I'm in the market for a USB microphone headset for use with Naturally Speaking voice recognition softwear. It came with one, but it is incompatable with the sound card on my laptop. >:(
I would like one that is "semi-open" only one earpiece.
What are you using? Any suggestions???
I recommend Logitech. I used to use headphones for online gaming and went threw a few headsets; single and double sided. The units with both ears were more comfortable for longer sessions but I keep my head shaved which makes a difference. I found the Logitechs that I had to have the highest quality sound. Stay away from the super cheapies.
I have the Plantronics cs70 dect 6.0 wireless headset (PLANTRONICS CS70)
It has a usb dongle. one ear piece and I can be 300 meters away from my computer with almost no noticeable loss of signal.
Its a little bit on the pricey side but works well, its comfortable, you have no cord in your way and will last a long time.

Holy crap....that is
way more than I'm willing to spend. Doesn't look like I could use it either, as it is right side specific, and I'm deaf in my right ear. :-\
You can flip the ear piece around to fit on your left ear.
I switch often.
the Plantronics Voyager 510-USB would do the job and you can usually pick one up for under $100.
I have the Plantronics GameComPro1 USB headset and absolutely love it. It is double sided, but it has an inline DSP so you don't have to worry about whether or not it is compatible with your sound card. The hinge on the microphone is the sturdiest of all the headsets I've owned and the sound quality is quite impressive.
+1 to logitech

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Looks like one of the logitechs may fit the bill. [thumbsup]
I use a PS2 headset. Like $20 and they're pretty good. I haven't had any problems with compatibility.

I've been using the Plantronics GamComPro1 headset for over a year with zero problems. It is quite sturdy, the sound is amazing, and the mic is great.
