Ducati Monster Forum

Another SoCoDOG meet up point is Montagues Coffee house, usually 9am, and the day alternates.  Saturday one weekend, and then on Sunday two weekends later.  The owners are friends of Steve Recca, one of our members, and are friendly to the club (make sure you get a drink before you go!).  We meet there, and usually go for an all day ride afterward.  Please come by even if you can't make an all day ride!

Post up if you're not sure which weekend is coming up!

I know we planned the every other weekend and rotating Sat's and Sunday's, but I don't know if this is a meet or open weekend (Labor Day weekend) coming up and if we are meeting, if it is on Sat or Sun.  We should create a calendar that we can populate the schedule a month or 2 in advance so it is easy to check for folks that may miss a few meetings and forget if it is an on or off week.

Ask, and ye shall receive.  I've taken the bull by the horns and designated dates.  I think this weekend the roads will be crazy with the Holiday, so we'll put off to the 6th.  Ride dates are marked in black:

Has anyone decided where to ride Sunday ? I think it would be fun to ride down to Bishops Castle and back through West Cliff . There is a great Mexican restaurant and a pizza place for lunch . Its a fun ride and you come out on 50 and can go back through Canyon city or make it longer and go through Cripple Creek. Holland is up for a good ride it would be fun to have a good turn out.

glad to see I'm not the only one who gets days confused !!!  this weekends ride is on saturday, the 6th.  the battle plan sounds good  though, if plans are still open.

Just another reminder about this weekend’s “Summer’s End Rally” on Sunday.  Weather forecast looks to be perfect, sunny with a high of 78 degrees – perfect for the Aspens to be changing and to keep us comfortable on a long ride.  [moto]

So far I’ve heard thru email or on the Ducati Forum from a few of you planning to ride, John and Brenda, Dave and Holland, Sean, Brew, KJR, and David Miller.  I have not heard back from some of our regulars like Adrian, Gags, Steve, Mike and Christy, Brett, Jim “the Warranty” Guy, Walter, Merkle and Pete .  Sure would hate to get out represented by MHM on this ride.

We are sticking to our meeting place and time (Montague’s at 9:00 a.m.)  [coffee]  and we will depart at 9:30 with a planned rendezvous with MHM at about 10:45.  We have discussed online about having lunch in Breckenridge.  Still looking for recommendations the ride beyond Pine Junction – Breck appears to be a good point to start South for folks from the Pueblo area.  We could ride to Buena Vista and the C Springs crew could head East and the Pueblo crew could continue South.  Please let me know what you think.

Looking for everyone, that doesn’t have a good excuse (right WDB and Cooleye?), to show up.  It promises to be a good time for all.  Remember this ride is open to all our non-Ducati friends and family too.   [beer]

This is supposed to be the weekend to meet at Monty's, not sure which day though. My son is coming down from Ft. Collins Saturday morning , so I probably can't make it for coffee that day. We plan to get a little later start and ride down to Bishop's Castle. He'll probably be on my Duc. Could maybe meet up along the route if anyone is riding that way.

KRJ, our plans for tomorrow are still really fluid. My son may not get home till around 10am and no telling when we will pull out of here. Plus, I believe we need to make a stop at Rocky Mountain cycles since they are supposedly having a 15% off sale tomorrow. Entirely possible we may not get out of the Springs until noon and with the unpredictable weather, who knows how far we will get. I was out today and got soaked.
 
And for Bonfy, have a great time and a safe trip. When I first heard about WSBK in SLC I thought that would be a good trip to make, but it sure did sneak up on me fast. Oh well, maybe next year.

Thank you guys!  I made it in safely.  Took a little longer than I planned thanks to a mapquest gaff on Yahoo.  Don't take US 6 out of Grand Junction past Loma.  It turns into a broken up old road used only by truckers trying to avoid the weigh station (according to the Slim Pickins/Jed Clampet-type who got me back on track).  It was funny but it cost me about 45 minutes and I had to backtrack.  Got caught in some rain between Price and Provo.  It was so pretty though and no lightning.   Folks didn't seemed as amused by Lance here in Salt Lake City as we are in New Mexico and Colorado.  No sense of humor.  I have no idea what he was doing back there, but I sure got some hateful looks on the interstate.  I-15 between Provo and Sandy was some of the scariest shit I've ever ridden.  I thought for sure I was going to be a hood ornament on the grill of an 18-wheeler.  Albuquerque's crazies can't touch it.  Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings.   8)

I'm not saying they are not meeting, but if they are, they are doing it secretly.   ;)   I am thinking of riding out toward Utah this Sunday to meet up with a friend from New Mexico who's going that way.  Depending on if my schedule stays the way it is right now, that is going to happen so if you or anyone else wants to meet Sunday morning at Montague's, then ride west with me for awhile, that would be awesome.

Sure enough, my manager scheduled me for Sunday, but not till 4PM.  So I am good for a ride in the AM.  I had to give a little to get the days for Ducati in the Rockies off.  Scottish has bailed on me so I am going to have an open spot if anyone hasn't lined their accomodations up and wants to split the cost.

Sorry, guys, I got stuck at work, just got home, and don't think I will be worth a crap either on a ride or at work tomorrow on three and half hours of sleep  so I am going to have to cancel.  I was really looking forward to finally getting some miles in with some of the gang.  This new job of mine hasn't yet solidified into a concrete schedule. 

Hopefully some of the others will see the post and meet KRJ and Shannon at Montague's anyway.  Have fun and we still have Ouray to look forward to.  Maybe we can hook up on the ride over.

Hey everyone!  As VP of this outfit, I have been called out by our Secretary to get a meeting together before she and Mike go off to have their baby.  Dave, if you are out there, jump right in and brush me back off the plate.  Throw Lance some chin music, cuz he's the one goading me on here. 

This is my plan, open to suggestions, but here is my attempt to get the gang together:

Sunday, August 30th I am going to be at Montague's at 9AM swilling coffee.   [coffee]    If anyone shows up, we will have a psuedo-meeting, just covering any pertinent club business.  Obviously there hasn't been anything too pressing or we'd have heard about it, right?

After that, we can do a run up Ute Pass or down to Canon CIty, it doesn't matter to me, I prefer loosely formed plans.   [moto]  The most important part of the day for me will be MotoGP which is on at 1PM Mountain time.   Everyone who shows up is welcome to watch it at my place or we can go find it at a sports bar.  Cheaper at my place though. 

If you want to catch just coffee, just the riding, or just the MotoGP, that's fine!  PM me for directions to my house.  I will be perched on the edge of my couch at 12:55PM.   [popcorn]

Great to see you all this morning!  What a fun ride up to Cripple Creek!  I haven't been up there since I moved back to town.  Glad the weather didn't prevent us from getting out for a bit before the races.  We got back down an hour later than planned so I'm sorry if anyone came by to find the place unoccupied.

Thanks for the gentle nudge there, KRJ.  I will put together a tentative schedule subject to approval by the gang at the first Sunday morning Montague meeting.  Lance said he'd be glad to do it, in fact, there's been a flurry of activity down in the cellar since he saw your post.  This scares me.  He'd have us out there in it right now in the most gnarly of situations.  I've never done this, am not super familiar with the area, and what is still new to me may be old and boring for you guys who've been riding the roads here for quite a while.   All those excuses aside, I will make an attempt within the week.   [coffee] [moto] [popcorn]

  Prolly just need to start with a meeting and work it from there. We never really had a formal ride destination scheduled, people would throw out suggestions and as a group would decide. If someone wanted to lead a ride, throw it out early enough so people can see if it fits, and adjust as needed. The Majority rules system seems to have been good in the past, informal fits Me, lets set up a first meet date and see. Any suggestions ?...

Sounds perfect!!!  That is exactly the vibe I got when I started hanging out with the SoCO Dogs.  Let's bring our datebooks to a meeting and pencil in some dates and destiinations.  I heard the weather was going to take a dive tomorrow or I would suggest this Sunday.  I can be there even if it is bad.  The weekend of March 27th and 28th, I'll be in Albuquerque for my granddaughter's birthday.   Maybe April 11th?  Also, racing is starting up and I love having the gang in to watch it.  You all are always welcome!

Just a reminder for everyone, we will be meeting at Montague's this Sunday, the 11th, at 9AM.  The plan was to have a quick meeting to discuss plans for the upcoming season, throw out some ideas for dates and destinations, and cover any other business as quickly as possible.  It turns out though that  some of the Denver folks want to join us somewhere along the way so let's pass on the business part of the meeting.  Let's just get to the fun part: the riding!  See, that's how I roll.   [laugh]  I told you guys not to vote me into office.  Not only that, but there is WSBK at 11AM and MotoGP at 2PM.  That's alot to squeeze in along with a ride so I will invite you all back to my place to catch the races.  They'll be recording while we're riding.  I will personally detach anyone's lips/fingers that spill the beans before I get home to watch the races.   [thumbsup]

Can I assume the next gathering at Montague's would be Sun May 9th?
Do the SoCO DOGs also gather at Phantom Canyon on Tues evenings?

Wellllll.....actually, we have been slacking a little in the Duc Nite and regular Montague meet-ups, but that was basically because of the long, LONG winter.  But I think May 9th sounds good for another Sunday morning get-together, even though it is Mother's  Day.  This Sunday might have been good, too, but there are supposed to be snow and rain showers till the afternoon.  As for, Phantom Canyon, let's definitely resurrect the Tuesday night tradition.  We can move it to another night if it works for more people.  It is a standing invite.  Either a dozen folks will show up or only a couple, but either way, it will be fun to see some other ducatisti.  Shall we try for next Tuesday between 6 and 7?

Hiya MTB427! I'm an original SoCO DOG even though I'm living down in Albuquerque now. Enjoy your new Duc and sorry I won't be able to meet you for some time yet. Bonfy I betcha any Mothers Day turn out would be... not so good. I'd try Saturday morning the day before. You should send out a big email and pump it as a Mothers Day ride, maybe with lunch somewhere cool.

You are right about that, Scottish.  If anyone is interested in getting together next weekend, post up your input either here or on the "Who's riding this weekend" thread.  I am going to Phantom Canyon on Tuesday in hopes to running into some fellow Duc riders.   I'll be there between 6 and 6:30. 

KRJ mentioned getting together this Sunday for a ride.  If anyone is interested, post up here if you think you might be coming.  One of these times, we should ride down to Canon City and save him the trip up to Montague's.  Anyone up for it?

We had an unexpected GREAT turn-out today for so little publicizing.  Missed KRJ and Butch (and Pete, as always), but we did have a great ride down to Bishop's Castle, coming back the Texas Creek route.  Just beautiful and the weather was awesome.  The wind died down some from yesterday's brutal buffeting.

Great ride today. It was a blast meeting you guys. Charlie (Kawasaki guy) had a great ride and wanted me to pass on his thanks for letting him come along.

Took a ride up 24 to Woodland Park on Sunday afternoon (3/11), had a busy weekend so that's all I could do.
Been riding to work whenever it's not like 16 Deg in the am....
I have my son coming from NY this weekend, we are going snowboarding, so I'm out for this weekend.
But...I am up for an after work ride either Wed or Thurs?
I work up off of Interquest Pkwy, and I get off at 4pm, so we could go up either Hwy 105 or 83 to Castle Rock or Sedalia and come back on the opposite side of 25?
Or go up 24 to Woodland Park and out 67 towards Deckers and back?
Let me know what you think, I am mountain biking this evening, but will check this post later if you or anybody else is up for a ride.

As I posted elsewhere, I'll be headed to the bike show this weekend, though I wish I were going snowboarding now dammit!

Anyone up for a ride, tomorrow April 28th?  I'm planning on being at Montague's if anyone else wants to meet up there around 9-9:30am for a ride to Bishop's Castle (other suggestions welcome).  Post up here if that works, otherwise I might just head up directly without stopping for coffee.
