i've been following this for the last month or so...
:'(
still shake'n the bushes boss.
Back in my racing days, after finishing up on the cars for the day, one would wander through the garage/paddock to grab a beer at the hostility coach before heading to the hotel. Invariably you'd end up stopping by other coaches and we (the teams I worked for) were on good terms with the Newman/Haas guys. Often, Paul was there and we'd all end up bullshitting together about whatever over a beer or three. Most "celebrities" that I have rubbed elbows with are self-absorbed douche bags as you can imagine. Paul (Rick Mears is another) is one that, in spite of his status, somehow managed to stay a decent normal human being. Everyone has to go someday but he is one that deserves to stay around longer, in my opinion. I usually don't get all mushy but this makes me sad.

you're not the only one. sounded like hobbs was gettin' a little misty about it during the valencia f1 broadcast last weekend.
Newman is a great actor and race car driver. It's sad to know that he won't be around much longer, but it's good to know that he has been able to have such a profound effect on so many people just by doing what he loved to do.
I didn't realize that all the proceeds of his salad dressings (and what ever other food products he makes) go to charity! I think I"ll have to switch brands of dressings.
A stand up guy. It's sad to here he's going.
Sad indeed :'(
:'(
The Sting is one of my favorite movies of all time.
this is indeed a sad story...
living so close to limerock,
i've seen him on the track many times.
you can't tell he's an older man until he gets out of his car.
i know he will be missed in the paddock :'(
although sad, it's good to still see him doing things he wants to do [thumbsup]
This is just. . .
wrong.
By all accounts, he's a really nice guy who has done a lot of good in the world. Godspeed, Paul. :'( You'll be missed.
