From what I understand the Rizomas are about an inch higher than the stock bars and they also have an inch more back-sweep.  Don't know much about SM handlebars.

I had suburban bars on my old SV650 and they were great... I was going back and forth with clip ons or stock bars on my monster and I think I'm going to go back to Suburban bars instead... I like what they do for the bike in terms of the look and the way they position weight... if the monster ones are anything like my SV ones that is.

I've never tried the Rizoma bars (or clip-ons on a Monster), but I have the SM bars:

Pros:
Fast shipping
Not chrome
Shape uncovers the top of the fork, making preload/rebound adjustments easier
Pre-drilled holes for controls
Lower position suits me better
Looks better with top-mounted dampers than clip-ons do (IMHO)

Cons:
Cost
Pre-drilled holes didn't locate controls where I wanted them
Tight fit will require re-routing of brake lines (at best) or custom lines (at worst).

I think I'm just gonna get a Brutale handlebar and call it even.

Anyone have a side-by-side or before/after photo of the Rizoma bars (not clip-ons) vs. the stock Monster chrome bar?

if you go to the rizoma web site you can see a degree sweep of the bars

i'm lealing more towards the SM bars ..good to see a posative response on them here

curious what are the brutale bars  ??? as in the  MV Brutale ? if so why there bars  ? they look similar to the Monster bars but not chrome

I've been running the suburban bars for a couple of years and really like them. Matter of fact, they were on when I took the monster from KY-NY-KY..... about 1600 miles in week.

They are about an inch lower than stock, so not a drastic as clipons.  For me (5'9" or so) they made riding more comfortable.  They do require some finagling of the brake line, but I haven't had any problems w/ the bend in the line.

I have to keep mine rotated a certain amount because of interference w/ the gauges.  I believe they have a different option now that gives more clearance room.

They are well made w/ very clean welds.

sounds like the suburban bars are a nice option to clipons when you don't want to much forward lean....

No problem. What do you think of the Rizomas in terms of the way they look?  I think the back sweep kind of takes away from the looks of the bike.

I happen to agree.  I may try some Renthal bars, to get the height without the sweep.  My wrists aren't bent oddly with the stock sweep, sooo...  :-\

I may try some Renthal bars,

FYI the Renthal street bars are not tapered.
