Title: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: ute on August 27, 2008, 03:52:45 PM so time for new bars whats your take on either who's got what ?
the way i see it Rizoma simmilar to stock ..cool colours suburban machinery.....simmilar to clip ons Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: uclabiker06 on August 27, 2008, 03:55:54 PM From what I understand the Rizomas are about an inch higher than the stock bars and they also have an inch more back-sweep. Don't know much about SM handlebars.
Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: He Man on August 27, 2008, 04:41:31 PM 2 totally different bars man.
I like the sub-urbans alot. I want a set. i run clip ons right now. Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: edgesnyc on August 27, 2008, 11:52:18 PM I had suburban bars on my old SV650 and they were great... I was going back and forth with clip ons or stock bars on my monster and I think I'm going to go back to Suburban bars instead... I like what they do for the bike in terms of the look and the way they position weight... if the monster ones are anything like my SV ones that is.
Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: Cider on August 28, 2008, 06:21:29 AM I've never tried the Rizoma bars (or clip-ons on a Monster), but I have the SM bars:
Pros: Fast shipping Not chrome Shape uncovers the top of the fork, making preload/rebound adjustments easier Pre-drilled holes for controls Lower position suits me better Looks better with top-mounted dampers than clip-ons do (IMHO) Cons: Cost Pre-drilled holes didn't locate controls where I wanted them Tight fit will require re-routing of brake lines (at best) or custom lines (at worst). Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: uclabiker06 on August 28, 2008, 08:02:42 AM I think I'm just gonna get a Brutale handlebar and call it even.

Here you go. Matter of fact, they were on when I took the monster from KY-NY-KY..... about 1600 miles in week.
They are about an inch lower than stock, so not a drastic as clipons. For me (5'9" or so) they made riding more comfortable. They do require some finagling of the brake line, but I haven't had any problems w/ the bend in the line. I have to keep mine rotated a certain amount because of interference w/ the gauges. I believe they have a different option now that gives more clearance room. They are well made w/ very clean welds. Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: edgesnyc on August 28, 2008, 11:08:33 PM sounds like the suburban bars are a nice option to clipons when you don't want to much forward lean....

Thanks ucla [thumbsup] Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: uclabiker06 on August 29, 2008, 08:30:36 AM Quote Perfect! Thanks ucla waytogo No problem. What do you think of the Rizomas in terms of the way they look? I think the back sweep kind of takes away from the looks of the bike. Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: Gearhead_42 on August 29, 2008, 09:17:46 AM No problem. What do you think of the Rizomas in terms of the way they look? I think the back sweep kind of takes away from the looks of the bike. I happen to agree. I may try some Renthal bars, to get the height without the sweep. My wrists aren't bent oddly with the stock sweep, sooo... :-\ Title: Re: Rizoma vs Suburban Machinery Post by: ute on August 31, 2008, 04:32:08 PM well ordered the SM's yesterday
