Considering buying one of these for my 2008 s2r 1K.  I'm currently using stock cans with a RapidBike 02 Emulator (which works quite well.)  I'm thinking of installing the midpipe to get rid of the cat and udder, and then installing a set of slip-ons (Arrows or Zards.)  I'd still be running with the stock ECU, however.

Anybody know what kind of changes I might experience with the above set-up?  Although I would be interested in some more HP, that would not be my priority.  I mainly want to get more sound out of the pipes (so people hear me when I split lanes), and improve the low RPM handling around town (ie. make it smoother.)  Thanks in advance for any input.

You'll love the Spark mid pipe but IMHO I'd only run it with the stock cans.

If you plan to run Arrows, get the full system.  Much cleaner routing & you'll actually be able to put your right foot on the WHOLE peg.  If you run the Spark & then add Arrow S pipes & cans the larger 50 mm Arrow S pipes will annoy the hell out of you.... ask me how I know [bang]

Ditto for Zards......

IMHO the Spark midpipe with stock cans makes a decent sound & won't upset your neighbors or the local [leo]  Runs great stock or emulated like you have .  I personally like the stock cans & how they expose the rear tire but once I went full Arrow I just can't give up all that space on my right peg ;D

Every once in a while I pull out the stock cans & think about matching them to the the Arrow collectors just for something different & to keep the noise down...... maybe someday [thumbsup]

Thanks for the reply.  Guess I should have taken a closer look at your bike when we did that 33 ride a few months back (you were there, right?)  I had the black s2r 1K and my buddy was on the Sportster.

I'm thinking about going with the midpipe with the stock cans as a start, like you suggest.  Hopefully I will get some more noise out of it that way.  I've considered coring the cans also, but not sure that's worth the effort (and could negatively affect the 02 situation, correct?)  Might try it though, I know that would make them a little louder.

I'd start with just the Spark & see how you like it.  Look for a set of cored cans used that way you don't have to hack yours.  It won't affect the A/F too much either way & you have the option of adding some fuel with your emulator right ???

Except for the foot clearence issue, I really like the Spark/ Stock cans setup [thumbsup]

hey Topangster i have a 2008 s2r1k also  - i wanted the swing arm and rear wheel to show better so i've fitted the full Spark system in black. sound is superb but its too lean and the standard ecu as you know isn't adjustable. i've had the bike properly dyno'd after and gained about 8hp but cant change the tune, so im about to fit a new ecu - should have it done in the next 2 weeks - then it'll sound perfect and run smooth as.

Those Spark pipes look great!  I really like how the clean up the rear and expose the wheel.  I think I'll eventually go that route, instead of Arrows or Termis.  For now I'll do the midpipe (should arrive any day now!), and stock cans.  Maybe see if I can find some already cored...

As for your lean running condition, I would suggest the RapidBike 02 Emulator (the most recent one for the s2r 1K.)  I put one on a few months ago, and the difference is amazing.  Much smoother running, better throttle response, etc., etc.  It doesn't make your ECU adjustable, just richens the mix across the map.  But it's a definite improvement.  Might be worth checking out (it's cheap, too.)  I know there's some controversy about the RapidBike tuning modules, but the Emulator is pretty simple and works great.
