The only kind of tampons most Americans are familiar with are vaginal ones. There are many other kinds though. For example, when have a bad cold and you wad up Kleenex and stuff it up your nose to keep the snot from dripping into your keyboard, that's a nasal tampon. Until, say, our mother's generation (well, mine; could be your grandmother's) nobody equated the word "tampon" to anything to do with vaginas or periods.
I've got to admit, I'm totally stumped at the connection to frame sliders or crash bobbins, though... |
