Title: Oil cooler for 696? Post by: Raux on August 30, 2008, 04:13:17 PM So I finally got around to taking more off the bike than just the seat.
while taking off the black panels under the front, i found what looks like the oil cooler mount at the underside of the airbox. After searching more I found two bolts at the front of the motor that seem to be where the oil lines would come from. It looks like Ducati will put a small square or slightly vertical oil cooler behind that mesh screen on the bike, hence the need for the two scoops on the side. Maybe proving my theory there will be a bigger sized air/oil cooled bike in the lineup before they build the watercooled versions. SO, my question is anyone heard of a kit out there that can be adapted for the 696 ??? Title: Re: Oil cooler for 696? Post by: CairnsDuc on August 30, 2008, 07:15:42 PM Pics?
Just so we can see what you are referring to. Title: Re: Oil cooler for 696? Post by: Raux on August 30, 2008, 07:24:32 PM can't wife took the cam to germany >:(
But if you lay under the bike after taking off the screen fairing you will see a couple of screw holes on the frame unused looking like you could fit a dowl rod or more precisely hang an oil cooler off of them. not sure where the bottom would go just yet, but if it's about the size of that silver screen it would be cool. i found a pic from nkryptit http://flickr.com/photos/27424259@N06/2655545717/in/set-72157606087575770/ if you look where he mounted his horn, and then to the right of there, that's the two brackets i'm talking about. you could easily mount an oil coiler on those. Also, on this post if you look at the second picture, just left of the starter you can see the top one of two bolts that look like where an oil cooler lines would go. http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=3770.0 |
