Title: will this work on a 696?
Post by: mrplease on September 02, 2008, 07:59:33 PM
will the carbon fiber heat shields for the silencers work with the termignoni carbon slip on exausts?

i've had a couple dealers say the shields will only work with the stock exaust because the carbon fiber ones don't have the mounting holes. but i've seen plenty pictures of the carbon exausts with the heat shields.

so please someone who has the termignoni carbon exaust please clear this up...

Carbon Fiber does not conduct heat so why would you need/want the carbon fiber heat shields with a Carbon Fiber exhaust?

You are saying that CF slip ons are cold when stocks are hot like hell?

Yes, that's what I'm saying.  You can put CF cans on your bike, go for a ride, stop, take your gloves off and touch the CF cans and it will be mildly warm.  Do that on stock cans and prepare to get 3rd degree burns.

That is great news cause I do not like the look of CF slip ons with CF heat shields. Too much CF  ;D

TNX for the info

The heat shields actually cover where the front of the cans and the exhaust pipes meet protecting the passengers legs when riding 2 up. Yes the CF cans can use the CF shields. you can touch the CF, but you can't touch the metal in front of the can or the pipes.

As pointed out above they do fit. We've sold quite a few kits with the termi exhaust silencer protectors + exhaust gard. We've got them in stock if you need 'em.

Well there you go....I guess I've never taken a close look at the 696.

I'm not running those heat shields on my CF termis. Looks better in my opinion. Wife hasn't complained yet about being roasted. I've been thinking of cutting off the heat shield mounts on the termis. Has anyone done this yet?
