Title: Stock ECU adjustments Post by: Bbrent on September 03, 2008, 11:49:21 AM I understand that these bikes run pretty lean from the factory. I did a partial chop on my airbox and I'm wondering if there is anyway the dealership can make any adjustments to the stock ECU. Any feedback is appreciated.

Title: Re: Stock ECU adjustments Post by: CairnsDuc on September 03, 2008, 12:47:06 PM Well out of interest, I have just had the Termi kit fitted by my dealer (ECU, Pipes and filter with open airbox)
Now when they installed the kit it was found that the DP ECU was faulty (Could not detect an air pressure sensor) They installed the Termi cans and the air box/filter, the guys played around with the DDS (Ducati Diagnostic system?) and played around with the fuel settings to get the bike running fine with the OEM ECU. It's not perfect, it uses a bit more fuel than it normally would and it pops a little on deceleration. But the guys were at the limit of adjustment of the OEM ECU, they wanted to make it a little rich rather than risk the system leaning out. The OEM ECU can't really take advantage of the difference the new Airbox and pipes give, but with the DP ECU arriving early next week it will be interesting to see what difference is made to the bike. If you touched your air box the responsible thing to do would be to get a PCIII (with a custom map) or something similar.

People have had success with a PC III on stock ecu on 06 S2R1000s (o2 enabled) so i am going to try it. 07+ bikes have some new function in the ECU that will turn on the check engine light when hte o2 is removed, which is the only way to get the PC to work. There are rumors swirling that PC has come up with or is nearing completion of a unit that will work with the stock ECU & O2 on E3 bikes. But I gotta tell ya, it ain't gonna be anywhere near the magic of a DP ECU. Add an earlier model PCIII on top of it and you've got some serious goodness. Ask me how I know...
