Title: carbon belt covers - need mod ideas Post by: Magnus on September 03, 2008, 08:14:27 PM I dusted off the stock belt covers for my bike, they are carbon but beat up quite a bit. There are several puncture wounds on the horizontal cylinder cover. I don't want to cover the belts/pulleys up completely either, so can anyone recommend a solution here? Cut out windows and use mesh? I know people have done that, I remember seeing it on the old board. Just not sure how to do it with carbon... a dremel? I don't want to destroy them in the process.
Any help is appreciated. The pics are interesting - I wish there was more info on engine type and if they are for plastic or CF covers. I like seeing the pulleys exposed - not sure if there are any drawbacks - maybe getting your finger caught in there? I bought a set of plastic covers on ebay to cut up but I have not done anything yet. A friend used a compass and sharp x-acto blades to cut holes in CF for a projector beam headlight setup. I'd like to see some pics of ventilated belt covers.

I'd be interested if someone had cut there carbons and inserted mesh....it was the plan but I couldn't find anything about it (all the threads I searched were the plastic covers). |
