Title: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: Cucciolo on September 05, 2008, 11:07:32 PM Anyone knows if there is a clutch cover that is transparent? I dig the open clutch look, but I can't stand how loud it is when it's open.. I particularly dislike the knife sharpening sound when you pull the clutch... it's louder than the engine :o
Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: silentbob on September 05, 2008, 11:16:16 PM I have seen one with a plastic window but it still had holes in the side. You can always try switching to an aluminum basket. It is much quieter.
Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: Spidey on September 05, 2008, 11:17:03 PM I'm pretty sure Rizoma made/makes an open clutch cover with a plastic window. Lemme see if I can track down a pic.
Ah, maybe silentbob and I were talking about the same thing. I *thought* they made ones without the sides open, but maybe that's wrong. Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: Cucciolo on September 06, 2008, 11:17:19 AM that thing is a pain to keep clean I didn't think about that.. every time I remove the stock cover.. IT IS FILTHY with black dust .. I guess from the plates' friction. Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: vwboomer on September 06, 2008, 12:19:59 PM I just put a stock cover on yesterday. At stop signs n whatever the open cover doesn't bother me too much, but it wears on my nerves in the garage where it is deafening, and between the houses which I'm sure my neighbors love when I get home at 7am. It was great fun for awhile, but it drowns out even the exhaust. I'm leaning towards staying stock.
So no, it's not just you. Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: kopfjäger on September 06, 2008, 12:54:10 PM Anyone knows if there is a clutch cover that is transparent? Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: endeavor on September 06, 2008, 05:17:22 PM I have the the MPL Type II clutch cover on my bike. It is fully enclosed minus a small opening at the bottom of the cover. The noise level is the same as having the stock clutch cover. http://www.matrixmotosports.com/products/ducati-window-clutch-cover (http://www.matrixmotosports.com/products/ducati-window-clutch-cover) Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? It is the clutch basket that you need to replace with aluminum. Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ? Post by: Cucciolo on September 06, 2008, 06:37:48 PM That won't help with the noise. It is the clutch basket that you need to replace with aluminum. If I buy the aluminum basket then I'd have to buy aluminum plates, which keeps adding... I will learn to like the scissors clutch sound.... like you all have.. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Is there a see through Clutch cover ?
