Title: Starter Motor Post by: dragonworld. on September 06, 2008, 04:05:59 PM The 750 strikes again!! [roll]
Planning to go and meet the Vic crew for coffee on Sat morning and MyLittleDucs Putana bike decides to have the starter motor lock up!! ??? Pulled it out , and no apparent problem!! All seems good, bugger all play in the bearings/bush, plenty of meat on the brushes, armature checks out ok, and the local auto elecs wont even touch it "cos its a bike" would you believe. [roll] Its not even an exotic one off model ferchrisakes!! Its a bloody Nippon Denso !! [bang] Sooo before I ring Small Coil Rewinds down here (Very good bike electric people) does anyone have one of these laying about?? Or know of one somewhere (I like to have spares [thumbsup] I know I'll probably never need it but its just the hoarder in me. ;D. Oh yes , and the solenoid is ok, but I might get one too!! And could anyone supply me with a model number type that I can quote please. All this info has worn off and none of my literature/manuals actually states this. He's a bit 'old school' so he doesnt mind having a look, so maybe you can have a look for someone in your area like him. Oh by the way, Pigmy thought that his was buggered like mine and took it to his local auto electrician and he tested it there and then, found no problems, handed it back and didnt charge for it. So ther are blokes around that will do this stuff, you just got to find them. Hope this has helped.

Yep a big pain in the arse!! ;) Once I've checked the continuity of the commutator and armature I'll get a bearing and seal for it and give it a whirl. If no good I'll send it to Small Coil for a refurbish. At least they are bike lecky specialists. ;D |
