Noriyuki Haga is on the verge of being confirmed by Ducati Xerox as the replacement for Troy Bayliss in 2009. Speculation as to who will replace the soon-to-retire Bayliss has been rife in recent months, but only now has the team reached an agreement with someone. Excellent [thumbsup] Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! Haga to Ducati Post by: gm2 on September 06, 2008, 06:12:35 PM uh oh, then who's he going to ride 4 inches behind next year?

He IS a good rider, he WAS a great rider. I will make a $100 AFF donation wager right here, right now with the first person who wants to bet that he will NOT win the championship next year. He's my favorite SBK rider after Bayliss, and I'd love to see him on a Ducati, but my concern is that he's not a long-term investment. I think Neukirchner has the best chance to win next year. Nonetheless, the imminent announcement that Noriyuki Haga will take Bayliss' position in the team means the Australian superstar will definitely be walking away from the championship at the end of 2008. Not that it has been an easy decision for Bayliss, who feels he is more than capable of riding on for several more years. However, at the same time he believes he needs to use his retirement as a chance to concentrate on his family and ‘chill out'. “Sometimes I get to the point where I feel like I'm giving my bike away – it's like giving away a pet. I feel like I'm lending it to someone else and I won't be getting it back, so it is really hard to explain. “I need to chill out and relax for a while back in Australia. The kids are sorted out in schools and the most important thing for me is to calm down a little, which is getting harder and harder because I am a racer at heart. “I could ride until I put myself in a body bag, but the right thing to do is to stop this year, enjoy my family and start a new chapter in my life.” Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! Haga to Ducati Post by: superjohn on September 22, 2008, 01:53:13 PM I love watching Haga race because he has no fear riding right on someone's back wheel, rubbing up against them, whatever it takes to win. He simply hangs it all out, all the time and I realy love watching that. The fact that he does it cleanly is even better.
Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! Haga to Ducati Post by: darylbowden on September 22, 2008, 02:04:03 PM The fact that he does it cleanly is even better. Why does everyone say this? Even the announcers say it, but I've seen Haga take out PLENTY of riders. I'm sure Biaggi and Kagayama think differently. Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! Haga ran into his front brake lever. Max did all he could to not pull a Sete and take out the entire field. Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! I don't understand the mechanics of someone running into a brake lever from the rear and causing a crash. I'm completely serious. the only way it works from behind is if the lever isn't there anymore when you try to brake for the upcoming turn. i saw that once at texas world speedway. guy on a muzzy raptor passed somebody up high on the banking around the outside, so close that he took the guy's brake level w/ him. guess what? he didn't make turn 1. Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! Haga to Ducati Post by: darylbowden on September 22, 2008, 05:22:14 PM so you have a source for that? i thought max said he got together with corser... Haga to Ducati Post by: sh on September 22, 2008, 11:10:44 PM It was Corser not Haga who tangled with Biaggi. And actually, I think Biaggi hit Corser. It sort of looks like Biaggi was pushed out to the edge of the track and had to cut back in just as Corser was passing him. This is just a guess though since the replay I have isn't that good.
The announcers were talking about brake levers being hit (which they have been talking about the past few races) and mention Haga. I love watching Haga race because he has no fear riding right on someone's back wheel, rubbing up against them, whatever it takes to win. He simply hangs it all out, all the time and I realy love watching that. The fact that he does it cleanly is even better. It is fun to watch, but also a bit scary. Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! Haga to Ducati Post by: tufty on September 23, 2008, 04:45:04 AM Well I was going off what the TV commentators said and who it looked like. I haven't read any post race reports. My bad if it was Corser, but Haga is definitely NOT the king of clean passes.
Title: Re: The Dog's Borrocks! Haga to Ducati Post by: Cider on September 26, 2008, 11:10:48 AM Speaking of brake levers, why hasn't some sort of guard been invented to prevent those kind of accidents? I suppose it might get in the way of the fairing, but it seems like it would be cheap insurance.
