Title: AFM Round 6: Thunderhill 9/6-9/7
Post by: Spidey on September 06, 2008, 09:11:01 PM
Good luck on Sunday, DanTheMan, Tigre & datv.  [thumbsup]

I can't wait to hear what it's like to race on the new surface.  Reports are that times are gonna drop.  Woot.

Yeah let's see those times drop! Don't forget there are no bot dots in turn 12.

I'm out here at Thunderhill for my first track day and was able to catch the final two races (250 & 750). I recognized the tigerbike but didn't know who to look for during the other race. It was a good time anyway as some of the racing was really close.

Steve reports that the boys had a good weekend all round.  Everyone stayed upright with lots of top ten finishes.  [thumbsup]

Hey gang!

Open Twins -- seriously out-gunned by the 1098's today.  I pulled home in 9th, with a fast lap of 1:57.8, nipping fellow Keigwins instructor Eddy Gonzales at the line.

F1 -- Started 12th, got a decent start and put down some good laps.  I was closing in on the next guy in front of me, but I ran out of laps.  I turned in a 1:56.1 (official time! and 1.7 seconds under my personal best -- set in the previous race).  After nearly smacking into someone on Turn 4 at the start, I settled in and got down to work a few turns later.

750 Superbike -- Started 13th.  A little unclear -- they're showing me as 7th (I thought I was 8th??) with a fast lap of 1:56.7.

Big congrats to Adrian on the pair of 1:57.4's (PR's, I believe) and a top-ten finish in 750 superbike.  TigerBike Racing is heating things up!

Cheers,
Tigre

Was it 150 degrees out or did it cool down for you guys?  Looks like good lap times for everyone!   [thumbsup]  Headed out there next weekend for a trackday and am a little anxious about losing all of my previous markers...not that I really used them all that much anyway.   [laugh]

Did ok this weekend had a battle going for third but couldnt hang on. Matched my PB times and had a lot of fun. Wasnt really super excited about being out there the last few rounds but this one i really enjoyed. The track was soooo nice, smooth and it seems like endless amount of grip. If you get a chance head out to thill before it gets chewed up.

Good to hear how well everyone is doing!  Can't wait for Sears.

I don't mean to stray off topic, but shouldn't the track improve as more rubber gets put down?  I'm sure once cracks develop it won't be as nice, but for a year or so it should be awesome, shouldn't it?

Or what about this guy who has TWO desmosedici's... One for the track and one for the street:

Oh yeah he also crashed in T1 during practice on Wed. I was unaware of the weird shifting on those bikes, 1-6 then Neutral.

Rubbing is racing - as they say in Nascrap.  I am pretty sure that's Lenny Hale - he's one of the fastest guys out there - I can't figure out why we'd be so close ever...

Me and Datv were doing about 10 seconds a lap faster than the dude with the d16.

'Belle --

When are you and 'Zo heading up to Thill?  I'm riding Sunday and then teaching at the school on Mon/Tues.  We should definitely coordinate and pit together.  Datv will also be there.

Are you camping out on Saturday night or going up early Sunday?

Good question.  I'd like to try and camp, or hotel it.  Either way, I think we'll head up Saturday night.

Well stop goin' out to bumf*ck nowhere, campin' in the weeds 'n' ticks, and ridin' with a bunch of no-name yokels and then we might come out to play.   [laugh]  (Translation:  No one wants to ride with you in Fernley where there's no flushing toilets in 100 degree heat with Jim-Bob's Trackdaze, m'kay?)  :-*

Glad to see someone racing it rather than just propping it up in the garage.

Garage my ass....I'd have that thing in the bedroom.  And I'd do bad, bad things to it.   [laugh]
