Check out this if you only want to haul one bike and you have the space. Havnt used it but it looks like a good idea. Combine that with a sport chock and you should be all set. I bought a small boat trailer from harbor freight for cheap, played erector set for about an hour and a half, and it has worked great. If I remember correctly they have one that folds for storage too.

I think a good trailer at less that 500 even if i have to put it together myself isn't a POS. i live in Oklahoma, trust me i know what a POS trailer looks like. Title: Re: Cheap Trailers? If I remember correctly they have one that folds for storage too. +1 on the harbor freight trailer. an added bonus is that they're not very high off the ground which makes them a lot easier to load/unload your bike. I use it to pull my snowmobile and have given it quite a beating. The thing works great. I set it up so that it won't fold thou. The plastic wheels it comes with so that it will roll when it's folded aren't very strong looking if you ask me. Thats not important to me so I don't care. Other that that it's a great little trailer for the money.

Post by: mcgalinmd on September 15, 2008, 11:29:21 AM I got a used boat trailer made of galvanized steel (rust proof), and for $250, I was able to get a friend to frame it out square (he did the welding, I did everything else including grinding, painting, etc.) with c-channel steel, and then put down a new deck of 1x2x8 pressure treated boards plus added tie downs and two used pingel wheel chocks. It rocks!!
I also re-wired it with a kit for $29 from Walmart. I've had people offer me over $800 for it already. In trailer costs and materials I think I spent no more than $600.00. Do a tiny bit of work yourself and save a lot - and have a quality trailer to boot. :) I am able to pull it with two dirt bikes or one Ducati on my 2005 Honda Civic Si; it has less than 100# tongue weight fully loaded and my hitch can handle up to 200# tongue weight max. |
