you know, i've tried all kinds of things but NOTHING that  would cause me to be high enough to spend a grand on something like that...

wasn't there a murder in china a year ago over a 'virtual sword' for one of these 'virtual world' games? yes, there was http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/4072704.stm

crazy.

I don't see many of those guys (with cats) in my line of work. I would hold out for two dogs. They can provide security and are easier to tie off on a shopping cart.

Sadly that's a very common thing. It's actually against the terms of use though and if you wanted to be a punk you could report that listing to Blizzard and they'd kill his account and then he won't be getting anything.

I remember a while ago there was some gamer geek lady that traded sex for an epic weapon in World of Warcraft.  [roll]

WTF is a WOTLK?

You'd be surprised what "special items" in these games go for.  We were building an MMORPG (what world of warcraft is) for another company and I was researching the real world commerce of make believe items and found some incredible stuff on ebay.  If you just do a search for "world of warcraft" you'll see some of the most amazing nerds you've ever seen buying and selling this shit for TONS of money.

Guy wearing a nice jacket walks through a seedy neighbourhood in latin America.

Someone calls out "Hey, how much will you give me for your jacket?"

True story.

I played WoW for a while when it came out (pre-kids)

Spent hours and hours on stupid quests collecting shit for some sorts of epic items.

Eventually realized the game was actually WAY MORE make the beast with two backsING REPETITIVE AND BORING THAN MY ACTUAL LIFE.

After all, I'm a lvl 60 middle manager with Epic Red Stapler of DOOM in real life
