Actually, just wanted to see if anyone is up for a ride to the coast.  I'm am thinking of heading out on Sunday 9/14 from Motocorsa at 9:30 a.m.

I know I've bumped into a couple of you mottle crew in the last couple years, but I am new to this site.  So if you are up for the jaunt, post up.  I'll check back later.

A little about myself;
Born in California in 65, been here 11 years via Hawaii, Rush fan and have roughly 11k on the o6 S2R100.

However, just want to let you know, that I'm one of those sad caffeine addicts, so I have to stop and get my fix from one of the java pushers along NW 23rd.

I did a route out the the coast last weekend via Vernonia/Mist/Jewell/Highway53/Manzanita.  I really enjoyed it & would like to run it or something similar again.

Hi Mike,

I am at the coast in Pacific City.  I won't be able to join your ride today because of work stuff and the scooters are invading Pacific City from Portland and Eugene.  They are meeting up at Whalen Island, stop by fro some PBR's.  I hope I can at least get up there.

Next weekend is our black beer event here in PC.  There is talk of a ride here for that.

HEY NOW! Don't diss the bike! It's the rider that is slow. I think I got passed by a Vespa on the way down St. Helens.

how fast do you guys plan on going?  I am still a newbie so my speed may be a bit slower.  I don't really want to hold anyone back if they were planning on flying like bats out of hell. 

Oh, Foss road is closed, December 3rd storm wiped out a bridge.

 :) Thanks for the Update on Foss Rd bnbmike. It was the SalmonBerry River Bridge that took it in the shorts, it kind of messed up our whole rail up through the canyon.

Talked with tuonodon and he may make it if his dirtbike buddy passes on riding tomorrow. He be on  a Monster Tricolore.  [moto]

It is good to hear there is interest on the ride and everyone is quick to post. 

John had a good plan on the route.  I'll bring a map for the review, prior to departure, incase there is a need to update due to road washouts.

Larry (another Duc rider) may be up for the ride also.  I may find out tonight if he and a couple of others, may be in as well.

Regarding meeting at Motocorsa, Larry suggested we meet at the bakery around the block, incase some people get there early.  I'm up for that and will leave a note on Motocorsa's front door for the new meeting location, just incase those that have already responded don't get this post. This will give everyone a quick caffeine break.  Directions are below.

Regarding the pace, I keep the speed a 'little' over what is posted.    ;D  I think that everyone should ride at a pace they are comfortable with.  The group can break up into groups if needed.  The lead group can wait for those at major direction changes.  Thoughts anyone?

Anyway, I looking forward to getting out and riding with you.

St. Honore Bakery is located at 2335 NW Thurman St. It is less than a quarter mile from Motocorsa.
Directions: from the intersection of NW Vaughn St. and NW 23rd (near Jack-in-the-box), go south on 23rd one block, turn right on NW Thurman St., go west 1/2 block and look for the bakery on the right.

P.S. Spell check didn't catch the 'Motley' reference or the missing '0'.  Writing and drinking don't mix.

Sounds like a plan! I think I know the bakery you speak of. Should be easy to find.

I too like the slightly over the posted pace. Is there a close fuel stop to the local? I`ll be coming over from the coast, will need to top off.

Great ride everybody! Something over 250 miles in total from my odometer.  That last stretch back from Tillamook... on Hwy 6...crikeys... I was trying to pass 5 cars at a time to find some open road... finally passed 3 fifth wheel campers at once and the road cleaned up real nice.... open and fast till Banks... then it got all poopy again... but 26 always sucks.... nice meeting all the new people and seeing all the old peeps again.  JB let us know how the bike is.... still looked all pretty... amazing that there was no real damage. If anybody has pics... post them up....

Great turn out too... like 11 riders at the start... and we had 6 left at Tillamook when we slabbed it back.... even some PAcifica riders on ST's and Multis..

Why on earth would i take incriminating pictures of my boo boo?  I was pretty lucky all considering.  I am going to clean it up tomorrow and adjust the turn stops and clip ons which i think should fix it. 

Yehaa! What a blast. Great ride guys. Nice to meet all of you.Thanks for letting me tag along. I clocked in with 256 miles on the odometer. I did`nt get any pictures of the one minor incident though.. I guess I was more concerned with helping JB get his bike back on level ground and checking it out.  Hope there is no real damage JB and you feel OK tomorrow.

Hope the weather holds for some more rides like that.

In all seriousness, glad you're ok bro. It could have been a lot worse. Bikes can be rebuilt, riders are a little more diffcult to repair.

Otherwise, great ride today everyone! Was great to see some new faces and ride some new roads!

Hopefully we can squeeze another ride or two outta this season before the rain and cold set in.

My shoulder is a bit sore.  I took some ibuprofen and iced it some.  Tomorrow is going to be bad i think.  For those of you that weren't there this is what happened.  We were on a pretty twisty road with lots of linked turns and elevation changes.  I was heading into a turn too hot and righted the bike to slow down when i just froze up.  I looked straight ahead of me and crossed into the oncoming lane and went down in the thick gravel on the shoulder of the road.  It was a total newbie mistake i admit and while it was happening my brain was saying turn or you are going to go into the ditch.  I took first impact on my right shoulder and laid the bike down on the right side.  I have some minor scratches on the tank and front fender.  The steering stops and clip on needs to be adjusted so they don't hit the tank when i turn the handle bars.  All in all not very bad considering how much worse it could of turned out.  Minor blemishes to the bike and a sore shoulder.  They say the first crash is the worse so im glad i finally got that out of the way.  Thanks to dirteagle and the other guy that i didn't catch his name for helping me get the bike back on the road. 

Despite the lay down it was a good ride with lots of people.  I am starting to put together peoples online names and real names which is nice. 

I crash a lot too.

You learn a lot from the pavement, trust me.  :)

I don't think i like my lessons from pavement/gravel.  If i can learn something from this and get better on corners then it will be well worth it.

Great ride, guys.  Lots of fun.  Everyone in the group is a top notch guy.

The coast was the place to be this weekend.  Did you notice how hot it was in the valley when we got back?  Sheesh.

JB, sorry about the tumble.  On the bright side, it was a minor scrape, and you were able to get right back on the same horse and ride it home (via the coast).  Way to go.  For what it's worth, I'd probably rate that road an 8 out of 10 on the difficulty scale, maybe a 9.  Good on you that you didn't end up in the Douglas firs and blackberries.

However, the next group ride, please remind me to NOT do wheelies in front of the State Patrol  :o .  Turned out OK, apparently, Barney Fife was on his lunch break - lucky for me/us.  Tomorrow, I will stay after school and write on the board 100 times:

Oh, by the way.  Watch out for a surly old hillbilly in Tillamook county who drives a dark blue Jeep Cherokee.  He doesn't like to be passed.  When Dirteagle (Robert) and Ryan passed him, he flipped them off.  So, I waited a little till the next straightaway and then started to pass ol' Jeremiah Johnson.  What does he do?  He SWERVES AT ME.  And not just a little wiggle of the steering wheel - he came over 1/2 way into my lane in a very threating godamn manner.  WTF?

Does that count as attempted murder or assault?  Sure felt like it to me.  I swallowed hard and whaled on the throttle and got past Mr. "Richard Head" as fast as the little Rs could muster.  What a fargin' asshole s.o.b.  Just a word to all to be careful out there - there are some very squirrelly characters out there.

Hey Johnnyducati, sorry you had to take the brunt of one of the local rednecks in Tillamook. I don`t think he wanted us to pass him. He was cooking through there at about 60mph which is pretty fast for that old jeep . Probable figured we wouldn`t be able get by him because he was such a good driver. [laugh] Some people can be such buttwipes.  I notice when we were all grouped up at Hwy 101 be pulled up to the sign and didn`t even look our way. No chance to give him the stinkeye.

Oh ya, and thanks for distracting the State patrol with the wheelie while we all ran the Stop sign. That was real thoughtful of you.

I would have given that guy in the jeep some spark plugs! What a prick!!

Ya know . . . I heard a story once about a Harley rider that used to carry spark plugs in his pocket for just such an occasion.  He'd pass them and then throw a handful or 2 into the air behind him like grenades to hit the vehicle behind him.

Did it it this one time and cracked the guys windshield.  Guy rammed him into a ditch with the bumper of his truck.

Maybe it's one of those there urban legends but still . . .

Just wanted to say 'thanks' for such a great turn out and the camaraderie.  It was a stellar day and an amazing route.   I'm glad that JB is fine and stuck with it to the coast. My vote for the alias is ‘8Lives’ (inspired by 9 lives) incase anyone is keeping track. ;D

We'll have to do it again, hopefully before the weather turns south.  Anyway, look forward to the next ride.
