Title: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: hooligan machinist on September 13, 2008, 05:44:26 PM I've been meaning to get a camera and show you gents just what i'm talking about when i mention going across the mountian. I don't "think" i know the guys in these vids. But both of them start almost literally at my driveway.

These guys are going way faster than safe. Particularly in the second vid. Probably should mention also that both vids are... On the same road. Start from almost the same point. Going the same direction. Done by the same guys, at least one of them anyway. Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: djomlas on September 13, 2008, 06:24:09 PM that guy on the r6 is barely keeping up...but looking at his speed, phew
good ride Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: Monsterlover on September 13, 2008, 06:52:15 PM you live on or near those roads?
<sigh> I hate you. ;) My roads blow in comparison Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: Smitch on September 13, 2008, 07:03:22 PM Really nice 2nd vid. Is that a street-fightered ZX-10 in front? Both those dudes would prolly whoop me, I'm slightly more cautious than that. Nice roads! This may sound stoopid as I lived in Johnson City, TN for three years, but what part of the state is Spencer (probably really close, d'oh!).

My house is 100 yards down the road to the left that he passes at that point. So yeah, i'm pretty close. :) Some people ride over 100 miles to get here on the weekends. They'll spend all day running back and forth. Kinda nice having my own mini deals gap to practice on. 8) Really nice 2nd vid. Is that a street-fightered ZX-10 in front? It's roughly 200 miles west of Johnson City, between Crossville and McMinnville. I'm not sure about the bike. Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: Scottish on September 13, 2008, 07:41:19 PM [thumbsup] Those guy was ok.... at least as far as I watched... I really don't have a problem with speedin' so long as they aren't endangering anybody else. I didn't even see any traffic through the part I watched.

Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: DosVerde on September 13, 2008, 08:43:14 PM Is that a street-fightered ZX-10 in front? I'm pretty sure it's a 2003/04 Z1000. I had one before I bought my S4R. I was instantly faster through the corners on the Ducati without touching the suspension or anything. Either I sucked on the Z1000, or that bike's suspension is far from standard. (i assume the former). That road is brilliant H.M, lucky bastard. Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: DoubleEagle on September 13, 2008, 09:58:22 PM That road looks like a Super Highway compared to most of the 2 lanes I like to ride . I got that feeling more from the 1st vid.
My guess is in the 1st vid the rider isn't gong faster than at most 80 mph . Of course it is hard to tell since I've never had the experience watching a motorcycle ride from the moving away from the road aspect. Still a cool road, especially if the traffic is light as far as anything but 2 wheelers . I feel the guys in the second video were running at times a bit brisk, not much room for error or adjustment , like if a deer decides to moosy out for a strol in the road. I will say though , been there ..done that and it is exciting, but only for about 10 miles . The Adrenalin starts to take over and things can get out of control and the law of averages on the open road start to play against you I feel . Dolph Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: MTBryan on September 13, 2008, 11:27:14 PM Great vids neighbor. That's one of the reasons I just moved from Denver to Nashville. The roads are downright amazing here.
You aren't too far away. Let's chat sometime about where you ride. I haven't ventured out quite that far yet. Cheers, Bryan... Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: arai_speed on September 14, 2008, 09:08:54 AM That's a mighty nice road to have as a front porch! I'm also lucky in that I live about 5 mins away from some of the best roads in SoCal.
Title: Re: Wanna see where i ride? Post by: LA on September 15, 2008, 06:46:00 AM Yep, looks just like right outside my back door too. The southern Appalachians is just about as good as it gets. Any day is good, but a sunny winter day when all the leaf ogling tourist are home or on any Sunday when everybody's in church or mid-morning/mid-day on a weekday is great.
These mountains are pretty damn unforgiving if ya make the beast with two backs up though. Armaco is not our friend, but then neither are the trees. LA |
