We did a Tam/Pt. Reyes loop today.  There were like a million cyclists out there (actually, only thousand or so if I had to guess).  There was some ride from SF to Pt. Reyes via PCH.  It made the riding pretty sketch, as you'd come around a corner to see cyclist two or three wide.  A couple almost got clipped when they suddenly swerved into our path.  On the way back, there were lots of cars across the DY to pass cyclists.  Eeeek!!

Tam was good.  Panoramic was clean and dry, with a little fog at the bottom, but clear once you got onto the mountain.  Fairfax/Bolinas from PCH to the top of Tam was . . . well . . . Fairfax Bolinas.  The road is in really shitty condition, it was wet, foggy and there were all kindsa pine needles everywhere.  At the top, it was basically raining and there was no clear road--all pine needles.  Seriously, the road from PCH to the top is in poor enough shape that I'd stay away from it on a Monster.  If you're on a tard, go for it.   [thumbsup]

datv decided to test the limits of the tank on his Husky.  It can go on a tank from SF to about 4 miles before Pt. Reyes Station.  FYI--Pt. Reyes station gas station doesn't sell gas containers.  You need to go to the hardware store to get one. 

It was a good pace and a good day, minus the goat trail and the pedal bikes.   [thumbsup]

There was a 100 mile wine  country cycling tour, and the MS 150 ride this weekend. That would explain all the cyclists out today.

Get a large Bottle of Gatorade, and drink  some or all of it. Anyway, empty it out and use it for a gas container. It's worked for me before, and it didn't melt either.

Yeah, that works.  But the hardware store is right there so it was an easy rescue.  Two riders went for gas, but I stayed with datv so the two of us could have a snuggle by the side of the road.   :-*   [laugh]

Alright wise guys...  so you see, I've been waiting to put this "power up kit"  thingy on the Husky.  I put my 600 miles on and got the kit installed.  It sure makes a difference - more power, louder, lighter... you know, the good stuff.  Anyhoo, prior to the new kit, I was getting 40 mpg on the same ride.  Well, there's always the bad with the good and with the kit installed, it now gets ~28...and the gas light doesn't come on (not that I could have done anything about that between Tam and Pt Reyes, but got caught with my shorts down.   :-\ Anyway, they make large capacity tanks for it and I've got one on order.  Yep, a PIA, but problem solved.

What size tank does it come with?

Check out Acerbis, Elkamet and IMS for replacement tanks. They do everything from HUGE Dakar rally tanks to more sensibe 5-ish/6-ish gallon ones, for just about every enduro out there. Acerbis does a really slick underseat one for XR650R. They might have something similar for the Husky.

Either that, or you need a St. Bernard with the barrel under it's neck to follow your Husky. [cheeky] Get it? Husky, St. Bernard. HA! I kill me!!
