Title: Ohlins rear shocks. Anyone know which ones came from what models? Post by: weemonster on September 15, 2008, 03:56:23 AM I have an Ohlins shock from a 98 900S. It has a remote reservoir.
So my mate decided he wanted one. And did a parts request on one of those online breakers search engines. he requested a 900 S shock. he needed a new shock anyway it wasnt that he couldn't see shit go past him honest ;o) Well the prices varied wildy but he bought the cheapest one planning on having it rebuilt. It arrives and he opens the package to find..... A Showa shock. Not what he wanted but better than nothing and it was cheap. I asked a local shop that used to be a ducati dealer what they thought and got the response Like all things Ducati there was period of time when Monsters were built with parts from which ever supplier Ducati still had credit with. So he called round the breakers he'd had parts offers from to check the makes and eventually found an ohlins. which he bought. He open that parcel to find......... no remote reservoir. This one is definately an Ohlins one its a DU8320. and is off a 2000 900Sie. My question (sorry if this has been long winded) is what model/s of monster had the Ohlins shock with the remote reervoir. and are there any performance differences? Is the reservoir remote to keep it away from the exhaust oris it just a Bling thing., Title: Re: Ohlins rear shocks. Anyone know which ones came from what models? Post by: Dannog on September 15, 2008, 04:47:30 AM I found an Ohlins shock from a 2000 M900Sie that had a remote reservoir at a local wrecker.
The model number on the shock was DU3820. It had the remote reservoir that mounted under the seat behind the old style suspension height adjuster. I ended up returning it as it was leaking and for the price they wanted could almost get a new one. The current model is DU440 and most applications I've seen have it mounted above the clutch casing The remote reservoir keeps the oil cool and allows access to adjust the pre-load easily. It's not just for looks. I've ordered a new one from Dan Kyle Here is a link to a guy on DML who's selling one http://www.ducatimonster.org/forums/monsters-sale/188177-2000-m900ie-some-tweaks-pciii-dyno-tuned-less-than-3-000-miles-5-100-a.html Title: Re: Ohlins rear shocks.
