Not yet... Still awaiting the verdict on the 1098 fram, & a new pinky nail ;D
still too fat for my suit :P mmmm.......pop tarts
I am going to try to do this. It is on Saturday so hopefully nothing can jack it up for me.
This may be a good one to help or spectate at. The AMS rumor mill has it that upwards of ten Desmosedicis could be there. As I said to folks yesterday at AMS, when in your lifetime will you ever get to see and hear a double handful of those bikes at the same time hauling ass around a race track?? Might even prompt me to borrow Jen's camera!
I plan on making it to this one, will be my first track day. [thumbsup]
Not that you have any shortage of available leathers from ML, but I have a one piece Fieldsheer "Flex" suit that I got from ML in Dec. '06 that I have never worn. Some damn bird got in the way of my track days. We're about the same size, you are welcome to try it on and use it if you don't have a suit. Let me know.

Hopefully in some skilled hands. Nothing scrapes its nails against my brain worse than Desmo's circling the track at 40mph.

Sorry, I don't think I'll have any more space in the truck.
I should be taking my 848 and McKraut's SS/SP + all the gear/supplies for the day.
But I should have space under the canopy for a few bikes
kevin if you have a truck, you can use my trailer. Bryant, you and rich are welcome also, if needed.
Tommy, thanks for the offer of the trailer [thumbsup]
But I'll have to pass on it... I can get 2 bikes, 2 people, and the day's gear w/ no problem. I'll let somebody who needs transport out to the track use it [thumbsup]

Hola,
Looking for transport for me and my Monster to this track day. "Anyone, Buehler, Anyone?"
I live in Dallas, but can meet elsewhere, I just dont think I'm up to the ride on da' bike to Cresson and back -along with the laps on the track!
Please let me know!
M
Someone help this girl! I have a trailer if you need it. I may go but will do so on the bike if I go to watch or corner help. But I can make the trailer happen for those who need it... maybe even a Chevy 1/2 ton extended cab pick up to pull it if it's not sold by then. PM your requests! [thumbsup] [moto]

I would be happy to help out with the trailer situation. I am still going to try and participate in this track day, but if I can't then I will still go and watch. I can transport four bikes, one of which will be mine, so if anyone else needs a ride let me know! [thumbsup] [moto]

anybody got some spare leathers that will fit someone between 5' 7" - 5' 10" and 130-160 lbs???

Thank you for the offer, I do need transport -
Re: The track leathers, I have borrowed Jeff's in the past and probably will again. The sizes noted above would probably fit - just have the undergarments so you don't stick to them. He usually has 3-4 available and it might be a good idea for whomever needs to borrow them, that we all get ahold of Jeff beforehand.
Thanks for the info. I would be happy to give anyone a ride, and hopefully I will be able to participate. Should be a really fun day! [thumbsup]

If someone has boots, mesh padded pants, Mesh jacket, gloves, and helmet, can you ride on AMS track days?
Basically this......

Yes, you should be able to ride in that gear.
I think Jacket, helmet, gloves, "pants" (jeans?), and "over the ankle shoes" are the minimum.

MotoLiberty always has good prices. Highly recommend!!!
That aside, I think 2-piecers are OK. It's better if they zip together, but you can always call AMS for specifics.

If it's like last year, there's safety inspection and classroom style instruction first part of the morning before we hit the track. They break everyone into novice, intermediate and pro groups who each get 15 minutes on the track per hour. Even if she's just slightly interested, I'd think it would be a fun time for her. Sweeeet, well tonight I'm planning on going over to The Covey with my beautiful bride Andrea for sips and conversations with some of the DFWMers I hope. It'd be a cool break from this hell of day for you guys if you could make it I'd offer my daughter for babysitting but she has plans tonight. If not, it would be like tomorrow night or Saturday during the day before I could get over. Saturday night is our 19th anniversary so I have take a bathe and clean up a little in order to take Andi out to dinner somewhere better than The Golden Corral. Really though this will happen. I've been wanting a set of leathers for like forever. I'm getting Andi some Dainese leathers for Christmas I think.

B8, removing anything I don't know about... Mirrors, blinkers and taping up lights?
Has anyone thought of if and where we as a group are going to gather up? or is most everyone going to set up all over the paddock? I'm thinking shade for the kids and significant others.

I almost finished up last night.
I pulled the fuse for the headlight so the tape doesn't melt. It's fuse #2 btw
Taped the headlight, taillight, and wheel weights
Removed the whole plate assembly (not necessary) and mirrors (zip tie the fairing to the fairing stay)
Presto she's ready for trackday

Anybody know a round a bout number of bikes will be on the track at once? (novice) Anybody here planning on moving to intermediate after a couple of runs? I would think a lot of the faster riders will want to jump up a level, especially considering the "no passing zones", that could get old rather quick.....

Bikes in the shop, mine....and a tech will be there to fix it....RichD. The throttle isn't stuck, it's more like (to quote RichD) "cruise control". The throttle closes the same way it opens, with the twist of the wrist..... But it should be fixed, just a little adjustment to the cable that closes the throttle.

Jeff Nash did tell me on the last round that the novices of this bunch showed him a lot more than he expected. He noted how quick this bunch learned and applied nicely. So a big congrats to those who moved up!
And to our expert riders...what can anyone say other than y'all kicked some serious arse out there today. I hear ya Sir L'Smart about Jeff going slow just the same it was very fun to watch you tailing him around the track. And vice versa. Great stuff folks look forward to next time.

Has anyone done a private track day? I think I may be looking to do one as I really felt like I was struggling with most of the track and I never got a chance to follow Jeff or Derreck so I pretty much winged it all day. If anyone is planning to do one, let me know as I would like to attend as well.
I did a private day and it was great. Derrick and Jeff showed me some great lines and gave great advice on how to ride the track better
I'd like to do another private day, but Thursdays have become really impossible for me to take off
I think I am def going to have to make one.
I almost forgot... HUGE THANKS to Dax and Elizabeth for the ride out to the track. [thumbsup]
If I ever get to do a track day I would prefer it to be a private day also... just to keep from being lapped by Kevin on his NSR50! [laugh] Seriously, a private day would rock. I know Lisa has spoken highly of her experience with Jeff and Derreck(sp?) as well as Scott.
Anybody else a bit sore from some intense track riding?

Lets do it Brian! One thing though... I think they will only let you ride a Duc?! ;D
You'd lap me in a golf cart. :P
I want to do the private day when I get another pasta rocket.
If they call them "rice burners" are there also "pasta burners"? Or does it have something to do with "chianti sippers"?

Thought I would mention that Marquess was at MSR yesterday and said he felt much better and was going to have an MRI on his shoulder next week. He looked good and seems to be doing just fine. [thumbsup]

Depends when Ducati releases the 09s. May not be until January or February. Kind of a lousy time of year to get a new bike, but at least we're in Texas.

A little off subject but same thought: AMS will have their private track day in late Nov. I qualified for it yesterday by working all day at 'Control'. Let's all do this together?!

Kev, you may have a good idea there my man. I too am struggling with the cost of the HC. I truely want to go really bad but it cuts my fam budget too short. So, let's get together those are not going on the HC and ride next Sunday! We can drink our sorows away thinking of the fresh beer kegs they are drinking on, the twisties we will be missing and of course the fine comraderie. ??? :-\ :'(
I am already signed up for the private day and I'd like some others out there to give me some pointers as well.
So, let's ride and talk about it. [moto]
The next track day I participate in will be a private one - fo sho - probably spring time

absolutely. can't believe your girlfriend is a long-lost friend from 10 years ago. small world.
Just wanted to say 'hi' on this thread. You guys can blaim b.b. (Bill) about letting me know of this group. I was the guy with the Red/Yellow 748 that was running in Intermediate. Paddocked next to Bill's truck.
Hope to get see some of you again (on the track of on the street)!
I think next AMS track day is 11/24 so I hope to make that one. I heard from AMS that there are private track days (10-12 riders on a weekday) that Jeff does once in a while and I'd be interested in that as well if anybody becomes aware of one.
I am also thinking of getting lessons from Ty Howard (current CMRA record holder in all the Texas tracks) and would only need 2 more riders to get a reasonable deal. PM me if interested. I'm thinking of the first week of Nov at ECR.

most of the private trackdays posted on the trackday section on the AMS website

Glad to see that she was alright and the bike wasn't too bad. I came up a few seconds after as I was the 2nd rider to pull into the pits since Jeff (I think - he was in a Desmo RR with the white stripe) came in and told grid to black flag the entire group and I just followed him in. Didn't think it was too bad so I was the fool gridded up at the front of hot pit then realized there was a 2nd crash and that's when I went in under the shade! I think I may have made your video ;D(the last one, near the end when I came in right before rattlesnake...I think I remember that pass since I hadn't tried it that far inside before since I didn't want to turn into anyone and I was already slowed down quite a bit). Not quite sure though since my bike has a yellow tail and couldn't quite tell.
