Don't think of it as a derby, think of it as a recovery from DML God Have Mercy On Her Soul :-[

too much man? ;:| ;:| ;:|
I was going to say something bad about the Pens, but that pic's just too funny ;:|
well game one is going about as i suspected. at least the flyers put up a fight in the first.
i'm now just hoping that it's not a sweep.
I do hate the pens but that pic is pretty funny....
So, game 1.....atleast it turned out just like the other two game ones we played, then won the series.
it always seems they light a pretty big fire under their asses when they suck like that.
how bout those crappy VS announcers. maybe its just that everything with the initials VS sucks really bad.

and while we're on VS sucking..why the hell coudln't i get the game in HD? they had freaking GOLF on...

they kept it close until the end of the first. let me have some small victory. :(
I was looking for a large 3 period victory.
3 more "small victory's" and the Flyers will be the ones playing Golf. :-\
They'll get it back next game.

I just got finished watching the game. While I'm glad the Wings won, they played really sloppy. I guess good for them that the Stars played worse.

I'll let the NHL know your feelings before they hand down their punishment. r:e)
I'm not saying ribeiro should get away w/it, because it was blatantly uncalled for... even if oz got his stick up on him first.
I'm just saying that a hit like that is not the end of the world.

I know it's not, but it was after the final horn. Big no no in the NHL, before the game ok, after the game brings the hammer.

The 3rd round is only started, look at the how the sharks took it to Dallas in the 2nd round.
Or a long long long time ago Nashville too it to the Wings, a long long time ago.
it's gonna be a fight.
it would be nice to see philly return to the broad street bully days if they are gonna tank it like that.
at least give me a nice hit or 30 to cheer for. the pens laid a few people out during game 1.
the best part is, the playoff marketing scheme is "Vengence"
i'm not sure what for, but if it works then go for it.
also, i was reminded how much i love playoff hockey over the past months. [thumbsup]
Philly did take the first four games from the pens this year, but as they say that was then this is the playoffs.
Anything could happen. Crosby looked pretty good though...
RUUUUUUUUUUUUTUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!!!!!!!!

quick, find a way to slip something into the pens water supply during the game!
or get crosby a nice lower leg injury...along with 6 or so of their other players and philly might be able to walk away with it!
It was a painful game to watch after richards scored that shorty. Its drives me nuts when the refs pick and chose the plays they want to call. It would be kinda cool to have like a challenge flag option or something cause these refs obviously need help.
anyway, a lack of offense in most of the third will end in a loss like it has. FFFFFFFF%$#$$%#%$#CCCCKKKKK!!!!!!!! [bang]

That's not how the flyers roll they will win the next game, to give the fans hope. They crush them by blowing a big lead in game 4.
And I hope the Wings play better tonight than they did in the last game. A win is a win, but they can't expect the Stars to
play down to their level in Dalas. :-\
god damn they boys in red looked dominant in the second half of the game, and what a game by hank and pavel.....
Dallas had a chance through the first half of the game.
Then the boys put 'em away [evil]
Chippy ass game tonight. :o
Yea it seemed like the Wings were thinking that the game was only 1.5 periods long then realized that the
Stars could still win it, and kicked into a less lazy gear. It was a good game though. And I have to hand it to Dalas they played pretty well
but I noticed when they were winning the "hits" battle they would get out of postion giving the Wings a scoring change. Such as the 4 on 4 Wings goal. Not that I"m complaining ;D

2 PPGs in the first... impressive! where was that all series?
if only they played like poo against the habs... then it woulda been my boys getting swept by the pens ;)
That first period was perfect. All they need is 9 more periods like that :o
WOOOO!!! FINALLY!!!!
I would love for the FLYERS to take this round but i wouldnt be dissapointed if we lose, now that its not going to be a sweep.
GOOOOOO FLYERRRRSSSSS!!!!!!
i think the line changes really had a good effect. finally our $53mil boy is prospering again. it also looked like vinny might be getting his mojo back...make the beast with two backsin old man. And of course Richie, Carter, and all are clicking again.
and timonen might be coming back...it might be more of a fight than i had imagined.
now, i still don't think they will beat the Pens, but i will cheer for an injury to crosby, malkin, hossa, or even gonchar.
if dallas could beat the wings i would be happy too. however, if there is any team other than philly in the finals i'm just cheering for fights, penalties, and more injuries.
If the Wings loose one more time I'm going to move this thread over to the WTF thread!!! >:(
WTF!!!! Score a D**m GOAL!
well, we all knew franzen was one of the impact players for them this year...
and they're still throwing a shit ton of puck at turco, so it's not like the wings are getting owned

who is this Stanley you speak of.... and why would people want his cup? [puke]
from wikipedia.org...
The Stanley Cup (French: La Coupe Stanley) is the most coveted ice hockey club championship trophy in the world, awarded annually to the National Hockey League (NHL) champion. It is commonly referred to as The Cup, The Holy Grail, or facetiously (chiefly by sportswriters) as Lord Stanley's Mug.[1] The Stanley Cup is surrounded by numerous legends and traditions, the oldest of which is the celebratory drinking of champagne out of the cup by the winning team. Unlike the trophies awarded by the other three major professional sports leagues of North America, a new Stanley Cup is not made each year; Cup winners keep it until a new champion is crowned. It is the only trophy in professional sports that has the name of the winning players, coaches, management, and club staff engraved on it.[2] The original bowl was made of silver and has a dimension of 18.5 cm (7.28 inches) in height and 29 cm (11.42 inches) in diameter. The current Stanley Cup is made of silver and nickel alloy. It has a height of 89.54 cm (35.25 inches) and weighs 15.5 kg (34.5 lb).[3]
The Stanley Cup is the oldest professional sports trophy in North America.[2] Originally inscribed the Dominion Hockey Challenge Cup, the trophy was donated by former Governor General of Canada Lord Stanley of Preston in 1892 as an award for Canada's top-ranking amateur ice hockey club. In 1915, the two professional ice hockey organizations, the National Hockey Association (NHA) and the Pacific Coast Hockey Association (PCHA), reached a gentlemen's agreement in which their respective champions would face each other for the Stanley Cup. After a series of league mergers and folds, it became the de facto championship trophy of the NHL in 1926. The Cup later became the de jure NHL championship prize in 1947.

no need for the hate. [evil]
Total Wings fan, but...
how great would it be for Hockey & the Pens if Syd & the boys made it an exciting one?!
I've typically felt that the winner was going to be from a Western Conference, but I'm not so convinced [red wings suck] this year. First of all, Dallas and the Wings looked slow compared to the speed and skill the Pens have been putting together. Maybe it was just Holmstrom's stupid penalty, but the Wings don't have that stoic - get the job done demeaner either.
My teams are out, but I'd like to see the Pens win it in front of Fluery. He played a sick game five. Being a sick bastid and a 'Wing hater, I'd like nothing more than Osgood to get lit up like a Christmas tree and have "The Dominator" back in net for a truly embarrassing final.
... did I mention Red Wings Suck??

Sucks I won't be in the 'burgh for the series, I'm off on vacation. Might not even be able to see the games at all. Ugh.
Let's Go Pens!
Born and raised to bleed black and gold, no matter the sport.
I don't get to see to many regular season games, living on the wrong side of the state and all. But after seeing some of the playoff games, it turns out those kids (Crosby, Malkin, Staal, Fluery) are pretty damn good.

And they are damn hot too!
Ugh, Pens down by 1 with 5 minutes to go in the second period.
Crazy game so far. I can't believe how many penalties against the wings in the first period. Although, I guess some of it could just be the refs trying to set the tone for the series.
The ref's shouldn't be trying to set the tone, they should let the players play >:(
But Yea Wings!
Go Pens! ! !
Wings all the way, baby!

Hmm..the fam is in town from Detroit this week. They've got me watching the Pistons and the Redwings. Looks like Motown's year in both sports?! [thumbsup]
What's with Crosby doing double shifts? Kinda soon in the series to do that.
At least Babcock didn't have Z covering him for more than his normal shift! *
* I say this now but if Crosby starts scoring I'm going to be saying (*&(*#$*&#^ why didn't Babcock change Z's sift :-\
I want the Pens to win but it just seems like they're being dominated by the Wings. The Wings seem to be all over the place, have puck domination and seem to be making plays left and right while the Pens seem to struggle to hold onto the puck and can't get a minute to make anything happen unless they're on a PP or it's 4 on 4.
Just like a lot of other years w/the Wings and the playoffs...
Seems like Detroit uses the entire season as a warm-up for thier performance in the playoffs. The play that passes for acceptable in the regular season is like 60-70% of what comes out of those guys in the playoffs. Unreal stuff really....
Go Wings! [thumbsup]

Ozzie's not facing shots - and if you listen to the Pens - he's got time on his hands to take dives like a real footballer.
I'm going apeshit that I can't see a make the beast with two backsing game here, but I'm also very curious about the calls. Another post-game topic was the return of the clutch and grab on Monday.
Pens are at least holding their own at home - it's great to see the Pens win - even if the still only had 21 shots on net.

Thanks for jinxing them. Both teams. [roll]
A much better effort by Pittsburgh last night. We'll see what changes Babcock makes for Saturday.
It was a good game, but the refs still need to either call all the calls or let the players play, not switch back and fourth.
And the Pens need to turn down the ice temp if the ice is getting sloppy, N00B mistake Al would never let that happen at the Joe.
I'm not blaming the ice for the outcome of the game, 3rd period was great hockey.
Z did a great job on Crosby. But I was holding my breath until that 2nd goal.

Is it going ot be shown on local channels or VS? if its local channels, you can always watch it on your computer thru live feeds. Or buy a mini handheld tv, then return it...or listen to the radio.
All remaining games are on NBC.
I'll be aware of the game as it goes on, but streaming vids really slow down our network [bang] [bang]

WTF WTF WTF?!
Redwings?!

winning/won?!
[popcorn]
WOW.
That's all I have to say!
Truly amazing that he called it. Awesome game tonight.
OK those goal tender interference calls are BULLSHIT.
Those refs need to watch where the hell the are.
and someone needs to read the rule book.
There is without a doubt that the redwings outplayed the pens in every way. Shots, hits, breakaways, etc. But Fleury did put up an AMAZING fight against the redwings. This is the best ive seen him play all season. I still hope he breaks his leg on his way home tonight.
i mean TRIPLE OVERTIME?
If gary roberts would have kicked osgood in the face with his skate while they were both laying on the ice, would you be SCREAMING for some kind of call?
The second interference call WAS bs, i can admit it. But it's not like the wings didn't have some calls go their way. It's the world of hockey, refs make mistakes, and then they correct them with BS calls. It's a two-way street. The pens get jobbed just as much as the wings by the shitty refs.
You guys sure wasted alot of money on those open bottles of champagne...
Go pens.

The kick was after the whistle, as we have seen from Crosby after whisle infractions do not get a call :-\
But all bickering aside both teams played great. The Refs are terrable but they have been this entire round. I am just saying that because that is what I
obsurbed. I am not trying to take anything away from the Pens goal, they earned it, and the power p was legit, or make ANY excuses for the Wings loosing.
I caught the 2nd OT and the 3rd last night.
Great, great hockey played by both teams. Either team that won last night game should be proud of thier accomplishment.
From what I saw detroit played much better last night. Fleury did play well though. I would like to see pittsburgh win, but they won't
If the pucks in the net its a pretty good bet it was RUTUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU Let's go pens! [clap]
Game 6, cant wait [popcorn]
oh yeah, GO PENS!
GO WINGS!
Let's close this one out, boys!
20 mins to go!

Nice Job Z Great Year [thumbsup]
Yeah Baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If it weren't for Fleury's great play, this series would've been a laugher.
The Wings were head and shoulders better. The Pens made a TON of stupid mental errors that cost them dearly. If they had played smarter and been better on the forecheck they might've had a chance, but the better team won - no doubt about it.

the pens were also the obviously younger and less experienced team on the ice... so... props to them for making a series out of it following the absolute clinics put on in games one and two. I even thought it was going to end in four.
and of course, the obligatory tip o'the hat to the
third best team in stanley cup history ;)
Anyone that has not voted still can until Wed [evil]
I wouldn't say the wings were head and shoulders better. Both were stanley cup finals teams, easily. Everyone played great, but the Wings' puck control was just out of this world. Then Pens need to work on puck possession and passing big time. They are better than most, but not better than the wings in that aspect. Fleury will be one of the greats. Next year.

Fleury will be one of the greats.
Or he will be another John Vanbiesbrouck, great for the Cup, not so much later on. Only time will tell.
