Hope you are OK. :'( When/where did this happen? Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: bigiain on September 15, 2008, 08:01:31 PM that sucks, are you ok though? bikes can be fixed Yeah, I'm fine - she claims she's insured too, so it _should_ all work out OK... big Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: bigiain on September 15, 2008, 08:06:29 PM holy crap! you alright? did someone ram you at a red light? Yeah, I'm OK - I'd just slowed for an orange light, I came to a complete stop at the red, some stupid numptie in an old Falcon with her kid and husband/boyfriend/whatever in the car had decided to run the orange - presumably thinking I was going to as well (or failing to notice me at all). big Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: bigiain on September 15, 2008, 08:08:45 PM When/where did this happen? On the way to work yesterday, about 3km from work (specifically, the intersection of Pittwater and Warriewood Rds) Bloody Mondays, I _knew_ I should have stayed in bed... big Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: mattyvas on September 15, 2008, 08:16:12 PM That sucks then Big.

Glad you're ok. That had me worried.
Can you do like we do here --> take it to the local shop and have them either *almost* total it or total it beyond belief, depending on what you want? A swingarm should be fairly easy to replace. You check the cases for cracks? Where'd you get the brunt? Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: dragonworld. on September 15, 2008, 10:41:53 PM As the pilots say "A good landing is one you can walk away from!!" Glad your good to go. [thumbsup]
Of course motorcyclung is dangerous, and its got naff all to do with the bike and/or rider!! Its sharing the road with these brain dead morons in cars etc!! [roll] [bang] Was she blonde??? ;) Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: heatherp on September 15, 2008, 11:21:23 PM oi I'm blonde!!! or was before I went gray. :P
Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: bigiain on September 15, 2008, 11:26:20 PM Fack, mang. Glad you're ok. That had me worried. Yeah, I didn't have much time to worry as it happened, but I had this weird feeling in the pit of my stomach all day... Quote Can you do like we do here --> take it to the local shop and have them either *almost* total it or total it beyond belief, depending on what you want? A swingarm should be fairly easy to replace. Yep, just trying to work out what I want. Quote You check the cases for cracks? Where'd you get the brunt? That's the problem, she clipped the number plate and took out the right hand indicator - she _almost_ managed to swerve around me, but then she went on and tore off the exhaust... The only three places the exhaust mounts are that broken off cast subframe spar, and the cylinder heads. I'm not sure how to check for damage at the exhaust ports (without stripping lots of parts off it). I'm leaning towards pushing the insurance company to pay out on it, and maybe buy the wreck from them - I could have it back on the road for a few hundred dollars, but I'm certain that if I take it to a workshop they'll have to charge more than the replacement cost. If I can get them to give me reasonable replacement money, then keep the wreck for ~$500 without any rego paperwork drama, I'll probably do that. big Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: Big T on September 16, 2008, 12:06:07 AM Double bugger Big......... Sue ummmm...... OOooohhh for a moment I thought I was back in the USA... [coffee]

Can be a real pain. :o :-\ Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: bigiain on September 16, 2008, 12:32:34 AM How did you manage not to get side swiped yourself, I'd love to claim some advanced riding skills here, but I've honestly got no idea. How she managed to take out my exhaust and indicator without hitting my leg is a complete mystery to me... Quote you are one very lucky fella [thumbsup] Indeed... Lucky-Big Title: Re: Bugger! Can be a real pain. :o :-\ Yeah, I found that out with my last Spada - it got written off when mown down while parked - I ended up with I think 14 days to get it re-blue-slipped before an enormous paperwork drama would have started - I just let it go to the big racetrack in the sky... big Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: Spider on September 16, 2008, 12:50:28 AM glad you're Ok mate [thumbsup]
surely first thought whilst lying there was "do I still have both legs?" the idiots are everywhere aren't they! Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: ducmeister on September 16, 2008, 01:28:25 AM Glad you're OK Big.
Stuff like this sux but it's only stuff if nobody is damaged. Hope the insurance thing all works out. Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: DUCMONROB on September 16, 2008, 02:05:22 AM Glad your OK Big. Nothing you can do about the morons on the road.
Rob! [thumbsup] Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: Dannog on September 16, 2008, 02:56:36 AM I always get nervous whenever I'm first to pull up at lights..............
Unfortunately running the orange when it's almost Red can be even worse! It must have been on hell of a shock ..... followed by instant relief that all of your flesh is all still there. Shame about the Spada and bugger about being off the road while its getting repaired! Good luck with all of that though. Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: CairnsDuc on September 16, 2008, 03:04:21 AM Good to see your OK Big, like it was said earlier, any bingle you can walk from is a good thing!
Shame about the Bike, but as long it leaves in/on the back of a truck and not you is the main thing! Shame about the dickhead factor on the roads!! Title: Re: Bugger! Post by: ducsport on September 16, 2008, 03:23:56 AM Big, glad you're OK mate. The others have said it - bikes can be fixed, or replaced.....

Post by: loony888 on September 19, 2008, 05:57:03 PM that sucks big, glad to see you're ok! do you know what the write off value is? it may be easier to let it go and find another one if there's a paperwork battle on the write off/repair effort.
