Halloween friday at Streets! I'm already signed up. Any one else?
http://trackdaz.com/ti/trackdaz/index.html
hey sure... why not.. i'm in. :)
i can go to the track 6 times in October, no problem... [moto] [evil]
Cool!
I'll be on a yellow SV. Hopefully finally not put-putting around since I'm doing CSS at streets the Sat before.
skinny glass blower dude is going to be there as well. and probably ryan, once we complete twisting his arm. anyone else?
I may be in on this one is not the 10/3 day. Possibly Courtney too since it is a Sunday not a Friday. Oops sratch that last part, I was looking at the wrong month.
I'll be there!
i'm going too. garrett made me. [bacon]
If at first (or second, or third) you don't succeed...
I've signed up. We all know that in no way shape or form implies that I'll be there. I'm sure hoping though...
temp highs last week in rosamond: Wednesday, 93. Saturday and Sunday, 61.
no forecast yet but average for 10/31 is 71. it'll for sure be bitter cold in the morning. i bet it got to 61 for about an hour out there this weekend.
i'm just sayin', come prepared...
And when it wasn't 61 (which was the other 47 hours), it was 3 layers, winter jacket and gloves weather.
Great news Gang,
I've been trying to peruade our buddy Jake into a life of happiness on street bikes. He and I grew up riding dirt for many years and he's finally cracked and handled the DMV shite and is ready to come with us for a track day!
Anyway, he's signed up for L3 on 10/31!
The guy needs some help though...He'll be riding my bike, he needs some gear...so here's the scoop:
Oval head, size TBD, so an Arai L may do. Size 13 Boot (ouch).
He's about 6' 3" and, slim with a V shaped upper body, so if any of you (GregP?) have an extra suit for him, or any ideas for suits, that'd be great...
Extra gear ideas would be awesome as I think he still has yet to determine if he's fully "in" or not. I'm planning on running with him for a few days up on the '33' the weekend before to cut his chops. He learns super fast and has countless hours on a motorbike so I'm hoping he gets real amped and gets into asphalt.
Gm2, I'm thinking those extra Held gloves will fit our guy...
[beer]
He can borrow my quantum 2 if he wants. (L, I think)
suit would fit him for height but he'd be swimming in it. (dainese 60)
boots are probably too small, they're 11.5/12s (46 eu i think)
talked to him yesterday.. gloves are his. he feels pretty strongly about not wearing someone else's helmet (ha), so i told him to go buy a Scorpion. for $150 you get a completely legit helmet. so he needs boots and a suit.
also recommended that he take the track daz novice school on the 31st.. think that's gonna happen also.
stoked! [thumbsup]

This thread should definitely be filed in the school threads. :-*
seriously though, I may know of a suit...stand by.
Thanks Dudes, keep up the good work! [beer]

Can I borrow the 675 for my next track day? I promise to flog it hard and put it away wet when I'm done! [drink]

Guess I better sign up... Thanks for the nudge gm2. I have been slacking.
So you think I'll be ok in B group on a CRF450?

Yeah but I am ;D
Just wondering if they will get upset with somebody turning ~2 minute laps in the B group.
nah. as long as you aren't riding like an a-hole, they don't care. i see plenty of those bikes in all groups.
Ok, I'm in. Any chance of bumming a ride from somebody? Any suggestions for cargo van rentals?
The crf is more than capable, especially at the Streets. I'm no hero and I do a decent job of picking off liter bikes all day in the B group. Most riders in the B group are wanna be's anyway! ;D
Have a good time boys and girls. It's Halloween so I have a date with my daughter for some tricks and treats! [evil]
;D
my truck's full with sexy bill's POS...see you guys out there...

I'm full up.
I generally get the van from Enterprise. Check the web for discount codes, I usually get it for 25-30 a day.

Thanks, found a 20% discount code and it comes to $37. Not bad. I assume the cargo vans have some sort of tie down points? If not how do you usually secure the bike(s)?

No mileage charge? Pretty good deal.

I use a homemade chock set-up. Its made from 2 Harbor Freight chocks mounted to a heavyweight piece of wood with D-rings attached. If you are in a van you need some sort of chock. I had the bike in the back of a truck without one but I don't think you can do it in a van.

The board is attached with tiedowns to the seat mounting points in the front and to random spots on the side (this depends on the van). In the picture, the orange straps are the ones that hold the board to the van. Between the straps and the weight of the bikes I've never had them slide. The van in that shot is from the first time we did it and the van only had 25 miles on it with a painted floor. We taped down an outdoor carpet remnant from home Depot to protect the floor. Most of the other ones have come with a mat.
Getting close!

mid-month it was 35 degrees @ 6am. if it's really 51 on friday at that time.. bring your bathing suit.

If anybody reads this early in the morning, I need some help prepping my KTM for the track (fuses, lights taped). Anybody bringing anything like that and showing up early enough for some pre ride prep?
I am also bringing the Honda so maybe durring the first break or something like that. Not sure if you can even have two bikes or prep between sessions.
RISE N SHINE BIOTCHES
j, you should have no problem... talk to joe when we get there. he & bill will have to do the same (or will have done the same last night)

Also a good idea to have a bathing suit with 30% chance of rain ;)
It's the or will have las night part that worries me... do they usually have tape out there to use?
If you haven't left yet, I'll have gaffer tape with me.

We missed you guys, or possibly had seen you. We did the 30th only. Two monsters, mine had the hockey mask grill. Good times! [thumbsup] have fun guys (and gal).
fun day, as always. some morning showers meant we had to sit out the first session but then the weather was great overall. overcast but a nice, slightly cool temp and zero wind.
bill was sexy, josiah was 'tardy, derby was spinning em up, joe was lanky, ryan was a colorful blur, jake did REALLY well (wow!), i found the limit on my beloved dunlops and learned some stuff about my riding that i'm anxious to get back out there and put to use.
we ran into april in the AM but barely saw her again.. for track daz there were surprisingly few get-offs.. and coach's was.. just right ;)

That was quite a fun day. Next time I won't have to stay up half the night before, making stuff to load bikes :) Big thanks to swqeak and mags for letting me borrow some tie downs and getting them to me [thumbsup]

When's the next track day?
Quote from: madmatt on November 02, 2008, 07:50:11 PM
yeah. the people wanna know.
jeez, alright already.
2 things. and of course the first affects the 2nd.
i'm moving around too much on the bike. i end up fighting it and wasting too much energy.. i get off the bike and i'm totally depleted. my movements from side to side should be a lot more contained & efficient.
so then, in addition to just riding too much in my head as usual, i end up getting fatigued and lazy with body position...
this (which is not SO bad but i don't feel like finding a better bad pic. but looking at it i can tell i'm strong-arming the bike.)

vs. this (better. a bit more of the open-your-hips-toward-the-apex thing.)

Anybody planning to be at WSIR this Sunday (11/23) for the TI2TT event?
I'll be there.
P.S. Thanks GM.
