Hey!  That Ducati 996s looks just like the one stolen from my friend!  Let's ram the bastard!

Ugh.  Don't we as riders already have enough people trying to kill us?  Do we need people incorrectly identifying our bikes as stolen and taking it into their own hands?

I'm surprised he isn't being charged for running him off the road.

That story could have easily turned into "motorcycle customize recognizes stolen bike, runs it off the road, and then is shot 4 times, dead."
Or hell, what if homeboy carjacked that mom and kid and killed them both?

Hey, customizer dude got his buddies bike back though...

make the beast with two backs, it is a peice of metal. Turn around, follow it, dial the cops, let them do their job.

This is the best thing to do with that type of situation IMO.  Follow at a distance, update the dispatcher as things change keep the bike in sight until the PoPo arrive to make a appears as a routine traffic stop then arrest the rider ~

I agree this was a dumb move on the builder's part, but it's good to see someone trying to hold other people accountable to the law.

As it said in the article we as the public have almost the same right to arrest a criminal as the police do. We just have a few more limitations, or rather, liabilities when it comes to the use of force. We are supposed to be policing our own society, it's because we've begun to leave it entirely up to the police that criminals are getting bolder.

So sure, a guy probably shouldn't run a motorcyclist off the road, in case of mistaken identity, or what not, but good for him for stepping outside the box a little to do what was right.

not really try'n to be funny.

after reading the op story, I pictured Billy try'n to use that as his defense.

I find the whole story odd. If it we I, I would have called the police and followed the guy. To wreck the bike I built.....just would not have been an option.

Isn't it usually a bad idea to hijack a vehicle, then demand that the driver take YOU to YOUR HOUSE.  Seems like it would be easy to lead the authorities back to the hijacker...Or did I miss something?

I can't understand running the bike off the road. You get the bike back, but it's wrecked. I agree with the follow at a distance and let the police sort him out. If you are absolutely certain that this guy is the one who stole the bike, then wait for him to get off the bike and run him over.

Call me old fashioned, but I don't want any vigilantes who aren't wearing spandex and capes.

Follow up to the follow up: Woman realizes that police & courts and all that legal mumbo-jumbo bureaucracy are just too much of a hassle, runs vigilante off road.

follow up to the follow up to the follow up

vigilante crushes turtle as a direct result of being run off the road. PETA receives a distress signal  via the vegan beacon..... a mob of stinky hippies assembles, and the woman is beaten to death with those plastic "croc" shoes and hemp purses.
