Stainless Termi's arrived today via UPS. I'll update with some pics installed on thursday after it gets done. For now here are some pre install pics of the goods. they are much more reflective/polished than i was expecting. the catalog doesnt depict them being this shiny at all IMO. its nice, but it will take some getting used to thats for sure.

Yes, it seems like the stickers CAN come off...i didnt pick at mine really because i think i may leave them on. they seem like just regular stickers, so im not exactly sure how they are going to hold up to the heat. CF cans dont really get hot like stainless does....so ill be interested to see how they hold up. hopefully they will still come off at a later date after being baked on.
what do you guys think? cleaner with the stickers on or off?

Before I got my exhausts I wanted to remove them, because I thought they where to conspicuous. For some reason I just didn't do it immediatly, and now they're part of the bike. I think I might even miss them if I'd remove them.

You know something we don't? I'm actually really anxious to see what Zard is going to make for the 696/1100. I hope it's something spectacular (a la Indy), but I fear it's just going to be the standard CF cones.

Got the Termi's installed today, all I can say is the bike is completely different now. The hesitation at low RPM is gone, it shifts smoother because the revs dont drop as much between shifts. Its really loud though, but it sounds great. When I downshift it sounds like a gun going off. I really just cant believe how much better it runs now, worth every penny.
are the instructions in the box? are there tips to putting them on?
Raux, I put mine on myself. The instructions come in the box, but as I am quickly learning, those crappy photocopied instructions are pretty useless. The photos are hardly useful and the text is somewhat confusing. It's actually easier to wing it, then try and follow the instructions.
If anyone is thinking about doing it yourself, know that you should just dive in as its pretty easy. As a matter of fact, the cans come off soooo easy, its almost off putting to think that in under 2 minutes your new CF termi's could be gone (if you know what you are doing). Two bolts, pop the springs....boom, your pipes are gone. :o
The bigger pain in the butt is the gas tank. If feels like there are a million screws holding that plastic on. And then when you do get all the tank plastic off, you have to start to pull hoses off, etc, just to get to the air filter and ECU. But once you're in, you're in. Couple things to note, make sure you run your gas down to reserve. It will help deal with tank removal. If you have any kind of accessories that require connection to the battery, now would be a good time to hook those up too. It's pretty nuts to think that if you have get to the battery, you have to go through this really long process. I am absolutely getting a trickle charger for winter storage. There is no way I am going through this process again if it can be avoided.
Anyway, swap everything out, reassemble and go have fun. Make sure those baffles come out! It took some getting used to at first, but I can't go back to the stock sounding pipes. The termi's with baffles sound almost identical to stock. So why bother, right? Take'em out...
And I agree with S2K, the bike runs like a whole new machine. I haven't even brought the bike to the shop to reset the TPS. But I need to soon. Over the last couple hundred miles with the termi's, the amount of popping upon deceleration has increased.
now that indy undertail is basically as perfect a look as you can get on the new 696, do they make the same thing that looks as good for teh older monsters?

Those pipes are crazy. I can only imagine how loud those are. And what's with that chin fairing? I am not a huge fan of chin fairings, but somehow, that looks very good.

Does anybody know about warranty issues after installing the Termi system?
My dealer wanted to install my pipes but I ended up taking them home with me because I traveled 400 miles to buy the bike and when I got there decided to take the Termis' with it. They couldn't do the install until the next day so that was that. I went home installed them easily and the bike ran like crap. It turned out to be the coil issue all along and stopped me from running them for a month or two. After the coil fix it worked better than ever with them installed. I never had the dealer set up the TPS either but it seems to be fine if not a touch lean around 4000 rpm.
could those be the stock cans with the shells removed.....?

if you are referring to the italian motoblog bike below. i think they could have kept the front, then just from the elbow back put a straight pipe on. but the elbow doesn't have the shield bracket and if they took it off they cleaned it up perfect.

If a dealer installs the system you get a 2 year warranty on the Ducati Performance parts - and of course your initial factory warranty on the bike stays in tact.

interesting. just check ducati.com faq and it says only one year on parts IF the dealer installs. i bet there is more info elsewhere.

interesting look, but it takes away the clean underside of the bike. how much ground clearance is lost with that? wish they would have kept the horizontal pipe run and ran it down into the exhaust. seems they just used the old style pipes on this one.
maybe with a chin fairing it would look better.
someone should photoshop the Barracuda fairing onto this bike.
i agree with Raux. the exhaust looks out of place on the bike. the 696 is a totally new bike so it only seems right to have a totally new design for the exbox. it doesnt seem to flow well with the new lines of the bike at all. maybe it would look better on a single sided swinger, but not this monster thats for sure.
I think it would look better in black with a chin fairing. I like the open negative space between the wheel and the seat.

Are the others without the ECU really worth the money, or are they just bling? They range in price from
$799-$1300 based on what they are made of. I'm leaning towards the Mivv Suono ($1200'ish), or the SC Project
Carbon, which just popped up on Ebay, $950'ish delivered to the states.

The best thing about the Termi's is when you start the bike the display scrolls M696 RACING. Dont get that from those other ones! ;D

Has anyone tried to modify the stock exhaust on the 696?
I know on some bikes, say Honda CBR 600RR simply punched out one baffle will make the stock pipe sounds quite a lot better. On the MTS, someone open up the stock exhaust (a lot of work) and modify the internals and weld it back up together. It sounds pretty good at the end.
Just wondering if anyone has tried something similar for the stock 696 exhaust?

They are selling the Ovals in CF with CF caps for 680 Euro. I think that's for the set. if so that's a great price. MAYBE time to convince the wife.

You appear to have a different, non-stock, bracket on these. It makes the exhaust go up a little steep. Did this come with the exhaust? Is it possible to fit the stock bracket so the line of the exhaust is parallel with the underside of the sea

Yep, you are right, the brackets are (stainless steel) custom made. Forget the original ones, they are very cheep looking. Basically just chrome rings. However, the pipes would sit lower. Reckon they would come down about an inch at the end.

the original look great if you paint or PC them black to match the frame better. the only problem with the shorter hangers is the angle is different. if there was a way to move the front of the system up...

YEAH ready for new exhaust-sorta. Financially, need to go with slip-ons. After MUCH searching and YouTubing, now torn between Leo Vince GP or the ovals. (I think, unless someone suggests something matching my wish list better?)
Would LOVE opinions/input from all on:
1. Appearance. Do you prefer the ovals/fatter cans or longer/narrower/skinnier GP?
I prefer a dark color/finish, but not into all the rave of CF. What do YOU prefer, stainless (on white 09 696 btw) or black stainless

2. SOUND! I prefer a DEEPER sound/growl. Do the fatter or narrower cans makes this happen better? Of course, will remove DB killers on cans I get.

Many thanks for the plug Raux! I am loving these pipes! Ducati USA is doing a trackday close to me later this month and will have a dyno there. I will post results as well as video with the sound these pipes produce. It is truly remarkable! The craftsmanship is top notch!
Sorry, forgive the silly question.
However...
I'm trying to decide on pipes or not and have a couple of questions please.
- I've listened to video's and whatnot but really how much louder are after-market pipes (say the termis for example with the baffles in) than stock? If one lives in a neighborhood do they upset the neighbors?
- I keep reading about them not being "Street Legal". Do people actually get tickets for that?

technically only the Titanium Termis are street legal. ie they have met DOT or EURO compliances. the stainless steel and carbon fiber say 'for race use only'.that being said, most pipes WITH baffles will meet sound regulations if not emissions. now apparently in some places they are trying to pass laws that require the DOT approval on the pipes and you will get tickets no matter the volume of the pipes. not sure if that passed in NY or not. here in Germany they can and will stop you and check for baffles. right now i'm not running baffles and will probably put them back in once i record and measure the pipes with out it. I am running the Roads Italia pipes.

i've looked at some options.
one is to make the exhaust go horizontal, parallel with the road at the connection point. the concern is the chainguard and brake caliper hitting them. it really opens up the tail and with a short tail... very unique. also i would have to brace them on the rear set.
the other is similar to the Indy modified 696/996. but with more complete packaged look to it.
anything else requires new headers.

I don't know about the 696 but on my S4RS without the baffles the bike was seriously loud, I put the bafflels in so as not to irritate the neighbors now it's too quiet just a little bit louder than stock, nicer tone but barely louder. Then my neighbor bought a speed boat, when he brings it back from a day on the ocean he runs it in his driveway to "clean the salt water" from the cooling system, the thing has an uncorked V8 in it. Shakes my entire house. So the baffles are coming back out

;D Yes, it is a wee bit louder with a deeper tone than stock. This is true on most aftermarket pipes with baffle. Well hey, if you won't be happy with both baffles in or both out then just leave one in and you'll be happy.
FWIW- I took ownership of my 696 back in early September 08'.
I just hit 6000 miles on the odometer, so I have a pretty good feel
for the stock pipes. I have been procrastinating on swapping pipes
(Termi's/Arrows)
since day one because I will be putting on a bunch of miles
in a short time period and i will not not get the money back on resale.
Also the rumor of only "minor" performance gains with the swap. As a bonus
I like the look and sound of the stockers. I get many compliments on
them actually. Where am I going with this you ask? I just happened to
stop bye my Duc dealer in Ft Lauderdale and bumped into a fellow 696'er
in the parking lot. We were checking out each others mods and I asked
him about his Termi's. He said "see for yourself" and let me take his for
a short ride down the street [bacon]. I don't think I broke 40mph, but I was sold
in the first 10 feet. Big difference in off the line power, how much... don't
know, but it was VERY noticeable and the sound... dear god it was beautiful.

of you to let me do that. While I can not speak for the many iterations of
slip-ons on the market; I can say the extra $200-$300 for the termi's
(which gets you a new ECU and air filter in the process) is now for me a
NO BRAINER when I finally do it.

Were the pipes the only mods that would have affected his bike's performance? Was the gearing the same on both of the bikes? He didn't have a 14t front sprocket while you had the stock 15t or something? Just wondering because if the performance increase is noticeable, then termis may go back on my list of mods-to-do.

Good question, but I did not think to ask, nor did he bring it up.
I will ask the girl in the service department; I know she will remember
the guy. Once I find out I will let you know.
i noticed a big difference below 40 just by switching from the 15t to the 14t with no other mods.
BUT i also noticed a difference between teh stock and the termi on another bike i rode with no other changes.
so they both give a difference.

ok did the official measuring of the new Roads Italia CF pipes yesterday.
idle w/baffles 81db
idle wo/balles 84 db
4k w/baffles 94 db
4k wo/baffles 97 db
didn't get stock. and not for certain i did the measuring at the appropriate distance/angle but it does give a comparison on the baffles vs no baffles.
BUT now i need to chop them 10cm.
the pipes were made for the stock tail, i have the R&G tail and the pipes cover the turn signals. so i am taking off 10cm to lower them. i may see a db or more with that much loss of material.
and pics. sorry pipes are at the chopshop.
and as far the juice box and BMC filter i was ordering.... [bang] order never got placed by the company, money was spent on Paris trip. long story short, will have to wait a bit for the other end of the system.

this week i am recording the stock vs Carbon termis with an actual sound recording device, not a digital camera. Ill post it on a youtube video, and here, hopefully it will give an indication (better than what has been shown at least)
i did hear the carbons and stainless are not street legal, but ive heard in michigan, if they aren't too loud (i am taking baffles out ;D) your not going to be bothered.

Interesting. Coz here's my observations FWIW....
Got my 696 all shiny new in November 08. At 1000kms service (600 miles guys, c'mon) I had the standard 15t front sprocket replaced with 14 toother and noticed much improved off-the-line acceleration (as you'd expect from lowered gearing).
At 3000kms had CF Termis fitted and noticed absolutely no performance gain at all. Nothing. Disappointed? Well, a little disappointed if I'm honest. But there is compensation: The sound alone is worth the cost of entry...... the back-crackle you get on the over-run makes grown men weep..... Sooooo.... if you just wanna little more zing from a standing start, grab yourself a bargain and fit the smaller front sprocket. But if you wanna sound like Thor-Is-Angry on Judgement Day then you're gonna need to spend lots more. IMO both mods are worth the cost of admission.

Ah well. Guess that saves me some money. I would like louder exhaust, but I don't want to piss of neighbors since I return home at night when everyone's asleep. We have enough punk kids with their loud music and loud exhaust around here. I do have a loud truck with subs and magnaflows but I only drive it during the day. Replacing the truck with a 68 Camero which will have stock-loudness exhaust.
someone really needs to get on a dyno with the Termis. this debate will always loom without it. my personal (SHORT) experience with the termi is that it does give a different feel to the torque of the bike below 6k. maybe it flattens the torque curve or something. only a dyno can show that.
BUT it does change (or is supposed to) your RPM limit. that should give a bike higher top end and maybe even change your riding style for hardrides/tracks.
I know that my exhausts with the juice box plus a free flow (when i get them) hopefully will give me 10%. Two brothers is giving 7% for their juice box and exhausts alone.
I think people are expecting too much from these Termi's and others. Manufacturers tend to "brighten up" those figures just for the cause of sales, and I think myself that any exhaust system that would give a greater than 5% effect on power would be almost unreal.
It also depends where they measure the power - it's different on the tyre than on the motor withouth drivetrain taking it's toll on the way to the tyre.
well on the 696, the termi kit is a full intake/exhaust free flow kit with a changed engine map and higher rpm limiter. i would expect performance increases with that, not just a sound improvement.
True, and that's why there seems to be a lot of people who bought the Termi kit (btw here in Finland it's about 1500 - 2200 USD bought from the dealer) and then thought to theirselves "I paid all that money and this is what I get?"
Don't get me wrong, I like the Termis sound and looks but still think that it's a bit high priced product. Still having said that I'm pondering between them and a K&N airfilter, Mivv GP's and a case of installation beer for the weekend. Hmm.... [drink] [beer] I've seen some dyno charts by Mivv and if I were to believe those the bike would gallop like a 1000cc after slip-ons :D
The real difference is the price and the missing ECU from the DIY -pack.
Oh and for comparison, Monster 696+ (or "Kit" here) is priced moderately here: only 18500 USD from the store :D I heard theyre a lot cheaper there.
well i wonder again about the dyno charts of say stock vs slipons vs termi kit vs PC V.

Since fitting my Termis I have noticed that on starting from cold and during the its-warming-up-whilst-I-get-my-gear-on period that theres light white smoke - nah to call it smoke is overstating it.... more like hot breath on a cold morning - coming from just the left side Termi.... Goes away as soon as the bike's warm and the bike runs fine. If it was just the usual "hot-breath" as the cold engine warms up ought it not be seen equally from both cans as it did when the standard cans were on?

gt78fin: Uh, and I thought mine was expensive for 17100 USD. I am also undecided between the CF Termis and the MIVV GP's. For looks and price I would definitely prefer the MIVV's - if only I could make sure the bike remains rideable 2 up without major burns from the bent steel pipes... anyone with the MIVV's out there? MIVV's customer service was not able to give a convincing answer ???

I knew this at one point but I can't seem to retrieve any info; can someone tell me what is the rev limit with the "Racing" ECU that comes with the DP CF slip on kit? Or better yet, where I can go to retrieve said info.
I've been told the DP ECU moves it to 10,500. It was posted somewhere here on the board but I don't remember who.

had gotten caught in rain storm the day before so ignore the dirt. and not a word about stripes. lots of autobahn to and from work. the curvy roads i've starting using Lee Parks techniques so i'm leaning off more, leaving the bike upright more. there enough excuses [bang]
i will try to figure out how to do a video clip cause they sound AWESOME. thump thump. had a guy that rides a 1800 Honda say to me those sound AGGRESSIVE. 1/3 the displacement and MY BIKE sounded aggressive [thumbsup]

I can't wait until Thursday! My Leo Vince carbon EvoII's are en route from the warehouse in IL. I was switching back and forth for the longest between different systems. I was super close in hitting submit for the carbon Arrows but a SNAFU on my end kept me from doing it.
I think the price and lack of stickers (optional) on the canister of the LVs won me over. I'll post pictures and better sound clips on Thursday. There are only two sound clips on YouTube. One with the GP and one with the EvoII. Both are not that great.

no. you don't need either of those for just slipons.
the termi comes with the new airfilter, new computer and slipons (which eliminate the cats)
to get the SAME setup you CAN get a freeflow K&N and powercommander V or Two bros Juice box and slipons (which eliminate the cats)
but you can use just the slips ons (eliminating the cats) and still get a nice running and GREAT sounding bike
guess I am repeating same question here maybe but.....

I am gettin popping occasionally on deceleration, but via another thread, someone suggests likely a leak becuz of install? Also double checking becuz I am coming up on 7500 service (owie) real fast here and should I ask them about a re-tune with these, or make sure I am not "taken" for one when never needed it.

Oh yeah, I love the pops and rumble the 696 gives out. It's awesome. Yeah, probably annoyed some people, but gosh, I'm in love.
The Termi kit without baffles pops like crazy on decel, and it's loud as hell. I like it.
Try leaving the throttle slightly open while decelerating and it pops really nicely with the fuel probably still being injected ;D
I`m still on stocks here and buying equipment at the moment so probably won't get any slipons at the prices they are selling right now. I`m thinking about removing the silencers just to see what the sound is like without that big restriction :)
Man, I have the cash but I can't bring myself to drop it on an exhaust. I'm going back and forth between the Leo Vince GP's and the Two Brothers slip-ons. Then again, Glock trimmed down the G20. The exhaust will completely replace the midpipe and will be completely under the seat. We have three different designs so far and will probably do at least two of them for sale. Can't provide pics yet cause the we do not want the design stolen and of course we will have a sample sound before anything else. Our midpipe will allow for single sided exhaust as well and you will have limitless options on silencers. Stay tuned for Sunday night we will have a sound clip.

Ok folks, before I installed my cf termi I forgot to weight the difference from the stock but I do notice the cf is significantly lighter than the stock. So what I found at radicalducati.com is this:

7.30lb stock
2.38lb aftermarket
Considering the different set-up I rounded off to:
7.2lb (without the heat shield)
3.0lb (with pivot pipe and db killer?)
That's a saving of about 4.2lb on each side or 8.4lb total. :o Try saving that much weight else where on the 696!
I wonder if my cf termi is lighter than the above aftermarket slip-on.

It actually sits about 5 inches in front of the plate mount. The only thing we have to overcome is the temperature under the seat. I think we have it beat though this stuff works really well. We will have the customers apply this under the seat.

i think if you make it out of carbon fiber and a double layer with a .5 inch airchannel for cooling between the muffler and the seat you shouldn't have to mod the seating area.
i've been thinking about this, but the CF guy i know hasn't been proactive enough.
make sure you check the full compression of the rear suspension. i think it's like 5.8 inches or so.

We are definatley making this exhaust. The CAD is done and we are going to be producing this within 2 weeks.

VERY VERY nice. but are you sure that clears full bump on the rear. it looks awfully close to the rear hugger. ooo are you going to powdercoat them black!!! oh yeah.. and a price.

It looks close, but with extreme testing "Tyler 250" was jumping on the bike with the spring collar totally loose and the worst we got was the box hit the hugger but never the tire. Our engineer "Marcus Aurelius" said unless you jumped the thing and completely bottomed the suspension and destroyed the shock, the exhaust box is going to be the least of your worries. It is also rubber mounted where is braes the frame so there is a bit of give there as well. No plans to powder coat it, but you would probably have to ceramic coat the piece as it would be too hot for PC.

Looks promising... Cant wait to see more pics with different angle. IMHO, seems like the exhaust is hiding behind the license plate. Wonder what mods can be done for that.

Yes, up high from the back you can't see the exhaust. I did get some different pics from different angles. It is loud! Not quite boom tube loud, but louder than the half cores. I forgot to bring my mic for the computer so I will try to get a sample tonight when I go back. I will also post the other under seat exhaust. Some of you will get a kick out of it. Its amazing what you can utilize for exhaust in the shop if you look around. I think I will try the high temp black paint Raux, just to see what it looks like.

I like the first one, looks cleaner. You're probably still working it but if you round out some of the edges, I think it will flow really well with the bike. How soon before we get prices and a clip?

We are trying to figure all of the production costs right now. It should be competitive to similar exhaust. The expensive part is the midpipe that thing will be the expensive part.

I sprayed mine with a flat black spray paint made for plastics, you can get it at Home Depot or Lowes, just unscrew the windscreen take it off and spray a couple coats to the inside of the windscreen. It works great.

It was designed to work with the hugger in place. In bad weather conditions, at best a few drops will get in. That is why the top of the exhaust extends past the bottom in effect making an umbrella from water dripping down from the bottom of the seat. If you were to go mud bogging with your monster, all you would have to do is remove the can (3 bolts) and hose it out. We are using a ceramic blanket for the wrap which will not corrode with water. Without a rear hugger, you may get some water in the exhaust, but the heat will more than likely vaporize the water should it get into the exhaust chamber. We are looking at a third design that will take it a little further towards the back. The problem is the further back you go, the more likely you are to run into problems of wheel travel clearance. So therefore you need to exit the exhaust to the side if you go further back. We will also offer a single sided exhaust as well.
Okay now for the weigh in........
The stock exhaust is 7.3 lbs per side. The Y pipe we removed from the mid pipe weighs 2.7 lbs That is a total of 17.3 lbs. We added .9 lbs back on to the mid pipe and the exhaust box weighs 2.9 lbs. for a grand total of 3.8 lbs total exhaust weight.
The weight savings are 17.3 lbs - 3.8 lbs = 13.5 lbs!
Lighter than Termis, Arrows, Leo Vince, QD...etc.. And the weight is taken from the higher point of the bike... [thumbsup]

Wow, they want $1100 for that slip-on? Here I thought the termi's are priced high. The stainless termi kit (with open air filter and ecu) is cheaper than that. I wonder if Akrapovic pricing will be insane like FMF

I haven't warmed up to the Akrapovic slip-ons yet. It looks like it would only flow from the rear view with the factory fender installed. It seems like it almost fits into the "cutout" of the side of the fender.
Just installed and testrode my 696 after smacking the Leo Vince Carbon EvoIIs on, thought id throw in my impressions.
First of all, damn fine craftsmanship. Everything is beautifully made and sturdy. Comes with carbon replacement brackets for the stock hangers, nice aesthetic touch. The carbon looks great on my pearl colored bike.
As for performance, I most definitely noticed a jump in torque. No doubt about it. When you check their site, the dino chart shows a jump in the 4k range over stock and I feel like I can attest to that. It's even a little more jumpy from the go, although seems a bit more abrupt start than stock. I wasn't honestly expecting much in performance, so this was a nice surprise.
After the first run, i did the thing i had to do and popped the baffles out and took it for a ride.
Good god, the bike sounds like a beast! I think my ears are bleeding. Pedestrians are scared of me.
I can't say how they compare to Termis, but I am very pleased with my investment.
If anyone plans to get these, I highly recommend Monsterparts. The guy that helped me out, Jeff, was super helpful and personable, and got my parts to me in 3 days flat. Also by far the cheapest I've seen em go for.

had gotten caught in rain storm the day before so ignore the dirt. and not a word about stripes. lots of autobahn to and from work. the curvy roads i've starting using Lee Parks techniques so i'm leaning off more, leaving the bike upright more. there enough excuses [bang]
i will try to figure out how to do a video clip cause they sound AWESOME. thump thump. had a guy that rides a 1800 Honda say to me those sound AGGRESSIVE. 1/3 the displacement and MY BIKE sounded aggressive [thumbsup]
Hello Raux, I'm also interested in the Roadsitalia exhausts but got a few questions. Did you shorten the exhausts yourself? How did you manage to use the original mounting position. I ask this question because when you look at their website you'll see some ugly metal strip to mount the exhausts.

Hey Raux, I was torn between Mivv GP's and these and finally decided to go with these ones. I like your cans for the looks so I'm getting either round cf with the same head or the oval cf with the same head. I thought to myself when ordering seeing other pics that I would propably have to shorten them, and then I came back to this thread and saw you and your shortened silencers, SWEET!

i can say that with the DB killers in they aren't as bassy but with them out... it's a good low bass thump.

Got my Roadsitalia clip-ons last week and installed them the same night. A pregnant dog to get those springs in place by yourself when they're being pulled twice as much as original silencers did, otherwise install was smooth.
I too will shorten them when I get the time, they don't fit to my eye with the CW fender eliminator kit...but not because they're too back but because they point "inwards" at the tip.
Sound, well, it's really nice on idle no aggressiveness there, once you twist the handle it really wakes up and rumbles. Great bike now with a great sound. Since removing db-killers I've had every single car driver, biker, cyclist, kid, women, men, truck driver etc. turn their heads far before I come around to see what the hell is that noise!!!
Really nice and the price for the special carbon fibre pair was amazing - 450 euros incl. shipping (In Europe) !!! And they were fast delivery too.

I shortened my roads italia's 80 mm. i also cut and angled out the connector pipes a few degrees.
We are still working on the dyno to get the numbers we want. We have 2 more designs we are going to try mid next week. We have lots of torque, but we want to move a little bit of it towards the top end (8500 rpm+) I am shooting for 1/2 more horsepower. I think we have the design that will get us there. Once that is done, we then have to finalize the manufacturing process. I am shooting for early to mid July release date. I am also working on getting the thing E3 compliant which is a real PITA!!! It will probably cost $10,000+ to make that happen. Every prototype we have made sounds drastically different so we have not pinned down the sound yet. I will tell you the bike does handle even better with 14 lbs off the high rear side. The thing even becomes more flickable! It really feels like a dirtbike now, much faster response to inputs. Thank you all for keeping and interest in the product!

Did you feel your silencers pointed inwards after installing them? Because mine do, and it's not really the lenght or how far back they go but the inward pointing tips of the silencers that bugs me. Otherwise good and very aggressive sound - have to wear ear plugs now! You ridin' without db-killers too? :D

Just got my QD Exbox today. Workmanship is great. Just started putting it together this afternoon. I'll do a full write-up later, but for now, I'll just say that getting the stock exhaust off is a huge pain. Seat, all the stuff under the seat, gas tank, and rearsets all had to come off just to get at all of the nuts and bolts that hold everything in place. Once the stock midpipes come out, everything is relatively easy. The fitment of the QD is really pretty good, although I had to skip a washer in order to clear the left-side rearset. The sound is actually much better than I had anticipated. I'll fill in some blanks tomorrow night once I get the random pieces back on the bike.

with the db killers out.. yeah ear plugs but it sounds SOOOO good doesn't it. i put mine in after a while cause i had to wear earplugs and i couldn't communicate with my passengers. plus it was tooo antisocial. felt like i should be in a punk band or something to be able to ride like that.

Sounds better than I had thought. Lots of tight focused bass, meaner and nastier than stock, loud, and not as poppy as the stock. Before the exbox, I was running a pair of cored stock cans, and I feel like there's more torque with the QD. Of course, I don't have any empirical evidence, but that's what my ass tells me. The biggest difference I can tell is the loss of weight from the top-side of the bike. It turns in much more easily, and just whips around from lean to lean.
Aesthetically, I love how it really opens the rear wheel up. I also love how the pipe from the horizontal cylinder doesn't weave through the engine and frame. It looks a lot more naked... like it's just an engine with wheels ;D For some reason, I think the stock rearset doesn't look as ugly with the QD compared to the original exhaust.
As I mentioned before, installation was a PITA considering that everybody else is only making slipons. Tank, tank skins, seat, the little container under the seat, rearsets had to come off. The O2 sensors have to come out of the original pipes before they'll come off. Once everything is apart, it's not that difficult to install the QD pipes.
The QD exbox pipes come in more pieces than I had thought. Both the Horizontal head and vertical head pipes are in two pieces held together by friction and springs. I followed the forum's advice (I don't remember who specifically, but thanks!!!) and didn't tighten everything down until everything was exactly where I wanted it. The whole installation procedure from start to finish took me about 3 hours not including having to run to the parts store to pick up a 24 mm socket for the enormous rearset bolt.
There are a couple of minor detractors of this setup. First is the location of the 02 bung on the horizontal cylinder. It's right under the middle of the engine facing to the right side. It requires that the wires to the 02 sensors be extended (the extender is included in the kit) and requires some creative routing. I sent it around the right side of the engine, next to the clutch cover, but I may end up rewiring it on the other side. Either way, it looks a little bit out of place. The second detractor is the length of the pipes seem to differ by a considerable amount (I'm guessing 4-6 inches.) I can't tell you if this affects power output or anything as I'm VERY far from being an expert on the subject, but it seems to go against the grain of convention.
All in all, I'm really happy with the purchase so far. I'm happy to field any questions you guys may have.
BTW, don't make fun of my front fender and fairing. Yeah, I know they're white and look out of place. Yeah, I'm getting CF ones really soon.

I love that exhaust setup. Really makes it look like a whole new bike.... Hopefully will be selling my QuatD CF exhaust to get this one..... Would love a sound clip.
Also, did you have your tank repainted? or new one?
Do the rearsets come off with no other problems? Just unbolt and remove? I'm thinking either the Exbox or maybe ryanracer's underseat exhaust and a set of rearsets and the 696 would look really badass.

The rearset unbolts with no problems at all. The right side hides a bracket which the Y to Y pipe (i just coined that) is attached to. I had to remove the bracket to get the exbox to work. The left one keeps the kickstand bracket in place. Other than having to pay $9 for the 24mm socket, no problems taking it off or putting it back on.
That's cool. Can you do it on a side-stand? I thought I read that you had to have the bottom end supported.
You'll definitely need a rear stand to do the install. When you take the left side rearset off, the kickstand no longer supports the bike.

Can't say that I would like the looks of the exbox itself (looks like a lego-block under the bike) but I love the way it leaves that back of the bike! And anything is better when compared to the stock cans - I just carried 2 stock cans from garage to cellar and boy, are they heavy. It's like cast iron compared to carbonfibre roadsitalia, so I have also noticed the quicker rear response after install.

The slip ons were $690.00 and install was about an hour in the dark with mosquitos bitting. Had I waited till sun up it wouldve went much faster but who could wait? The clip is with baffles in. Deeper sounding and slightly louder at idle - on gas they roar. Could'nt imagine with the baffles out.

would that be a true 848 exhaust, or just an 848 style?
I was thinking, would it be possible to make an exhaust, like a booktube, or like some of the new under seat exhausts we are seeing, BUT, with a connection so i could choose either my termis for a month or so, then swap back?? i love the termis dont get em wrong, but there is something about not having anything under the seat that just looks sick
maybe share a connection point, no messing with the ECU and stuff, just unbolt and swap??

what eer happened with the 848 exhaust for the 696 / 1100 rumors?
I just got CF Termi's on my 696. What a beautiful sound. Termi's should be stock on all Ducatis. Notice that they helped with engine braking coming off the throttle. Not as harsh as with the stock pipes. Did I mention the beautiful sound?
The underseat exhaust is done and will be in production finally on Nov 10th!

stealth box: doesn't match the lines of the bike. you really have to check full bump on that one.
duals: nice, clean, simple, a good concept
Rhodan: by far my favorite, almost mimics the lines of the bike, more 'stealthy' than the stealth, a complex shape that's still simple, i would add a center support between the two points though, to split the visual of the opening and support the tips. (or add more to give a more stealth exhaust look)

The pipes, the first one, cool, but so bright and silvery, you know that shinny chrome stuff. maybe redone with Ceramic black? they would be cooler,

Yes, it seems like the stickers CAN come off...i didnt pick at mine really because i think i may leave them on. they seem like just regular stickers, so im not exactly sure how they are going to hold up to the heat. CF cans dont really get hot like stainless does....so ill be interested to see how they hold up. hopefully they will still come off at a later date after being baked on.

Thanks all for the wonderful feedback good and bad. We are finally in production and there is one last design that we are going to put into production. We have had a few requests to do a GP style under seat exhaust. So we came up with 2 different looks. One is straight out the back and one is kicked 20 degrees. It sounds almost identical to the ride by.

that's the one from IndyDucati for one of the members here. you would only need their system from the mid pipe back since it looks like they kept the header pipes.

yes working on a new midpipe for the stock location for the 1100 that can be used on the 696 as well.
the stock termis won't work under the tail.. too fat

I recently upgraded exhaust on my Monster 696 to Mivv Suono. They look better than in promotional pictures and are loud as hell. The good thing is you can have 3 different set ups with 2 removable DB killers. With both of them in place it's maybe slightly louder than stock. When you remove the first DB killer, which is easy to do the sound becomes louder, but OK without earplugs. The last DB killer is difficult to get out, at least mine was, but when you get it out there's a straight pipe and it's ridiculously LOUD. Bought some earplugs and that's the only way to ride when they are out. Will try to make some videos later [moto]

that's what i did with the pipes i bought... from 300mm to 220mm
the fmf are way too long and besides that they hang at all the wrong angle. the only exhaust ive seen that follows the tail section's angle best are the termis mounted on the upper mounting point that is on the bracket. all the others seem to hang at a diff angle than the tail section and it looks weird to me.
I haven't been able to find a sound clip for the Vance and Hines on a Monster, but i've heard them on other bikes and they sound great.
buy em, record it, post it :D
My dealer has a pair installed on their 696 and it sounds pretty awesome. I had seen them online and I wasn't impressed with the look, but when I saw them in person I changed my tune. They're pretty sweet.

Unlike the Termi full system it looks like you could get the oil drain plug out too (although not the screen filter). And at not much more that US$1000 too... makes it twice as nice.
Its not a monster but it looks like they would work on a 796 or 1100. the company that makes them said something about making them for the 796 on another forum but when i e-mailed them they said they had no plans to and also stopped making them for the SC1000. It's by far my favorite exhaust that i have seen so far and wish i could get my hands on a set.

No way! The curve goes with the wheel. It has to be curved so it doesn't go up your passenger's leg. That sweet sound comes from the shape

I like the shape of the Galassetti. Aesthetically, why put a plain cylinder at a wierd angle on something that has few straight lines. I think it would look better if it were shorter, but it looks good as is. I just still can't wrap my head around exhausts (oem or aftermarket) in the stock position.
The only problem with the Galasetti is it requires the stock rearsets. thos who have dropped them... out of luck.
I took this last summer sometime and I've been meaning to post it. It's not great and I'll probably do a better one in the near future. Anyway, I've got stainless Zard slip-ons on my 696. I think they sound pretty good. I had to put the dB killers in because it runs really lean and we have a baby in the house. It wouldn't do to wake the baby when I leave for work at 530am.

I like the Galasetti can. I'd like it more if it were an under the tail mount like the oem exhaust.

I spoke to ryan via email yesterday. He said that they are making a baffle for the setup which hopefully will be avail soon... They also have the rodan box in titanium which might be nice!

I was surprised with the high quality of the baffle. Bought 2 of them in the 1 3/8" size and they fit perfectly snug in the existing tip. Drilled a hole through the baffle and into the existing baffle that is welded in and screwed in a self tapping screw.
Worked perfectly. Greatly reduced the volume, it's basically perfect. The only down side is a lot of the bass was suppressed by the new baffle. Good news is, the baffle is removable and re-installable.
I plan on buying a second tip from Ryan and hopefully getting my hands on the new gen baffle he mentioned in the email I got from him today.

I installed a 4 1/2" X 2" baffle today in the Rodan box. Pretty easy to remove it if I decide to go louder... But, give bike the same sound, just not as loud..

The sound is awesome-the deep growl I was looking for! Now trying to decide whether to add the LeoVince Stickers or nawt? Kinda liking em without stickers.
I have the carbon LV, I found it too loud maybe because I was inside the garage when I measured the readings, I had the db killer out. One thing i did was cut off about half the db killer and re installed them.

ive been intending to change my 696 stock exhausts but have been hearing quite a few varied comments and would really like to have them clarified before I make any changes....
- Having slip-ons without installing the DP Race ECU will screw up your bike in the long run. Someone also told me he had LV's installed and his idling went to 2000 RPM??
So I guess my question is: Is there anyone who has slip-ons without changing their ECUs and airfilters? Any problems so far and will it have any problems in the long run? Sorry if this sounds noobish but ive been trawling the forum and havent found a direct answer for this or i might have missed it ... thanks and appreciate any help on this! [beer]
I made no modification to my ECU or air filter; sklip-on's only. No ill side effects.

I have LV Carbons slipons with stock filter and ECU. The box actually says they are designed for stock mapping. Bike runs fine, I ride at 2200-2400ft ASL.

They are SC Project GP slip ons. My bike is an 1100 though I don't think it matters.

I put the zards on my 1100 and it runs fine, not much different then with stock exhaust besides for the sound of course, but stock monsters run lean to begin with so I know it could run better with an ecu flash which is why I will be sending mine in soon. If you like how it runs stock adding the slip ons without an ecu flash will not cause any issues.
anyone... I need a stock front exhaust sheild and mounting hardware (clips, screws, etc)... asap
anyone have a full termi on their bike and have it around?
if you don't have the mounting hardware, ie if you put a CF one on, I'll take what you got.

Nice, But they are shown for the 696. Will they fit my 796? If so I'm all over it.
any slipons past the midpipe will work for 696/796/1100 (minus the evo)
for ones that come with a new midpipe 796/1100 will need something to remove the servo motor (Motocreations Duc.EE)
for complete systems... gotta match your bike.
Ive been bouncing around between the Termi slipon system with ecu system and Motocreations Boomtubes. I did some looking on the engine management side of it and it looks like Power Commander V isnt ready for the 796 yet... Am I going to run into any issues running the Boomtubes with a stock ecu/air filter? any other options out there?
I've started to consider the Termis' but I'm having a hard time finding a good sound clip on youtube. I want bassy and loud. I like the look of the termi's minus the stickers. I also like that the ECU and filters come in the package. It's a bit more $$ but I think that it could be a good value. I really wish I could afford the full system. Is one particular set of Termis' louder or bassier than the others?

I had the termi carbon slipon kit on my 696 with no db killers and it was quite bassy and fairly loud, but still tuned sounding. Not like cherry bombs on a pickup. I have heard that the titanium kit has catalytic converters in them though I don't know first hand. If so I would images them to be a little quieter.

but that bastard has been putting in a pool and having fork lifts etc everymorning including saturdays at like 7am...
and the others... and their barking dogs at all hours...
I'll worry about db killers soon enough, but I'm going to enjoy a few rides through the neighborhood to remind them who's king.

At my old appartment I had 3 tennents and their land lord come over one night in a gang to ask me not to start my bike at 6:00am (when i had the 696 with the termis...no db killers) I responded that I went to work for 7 and the bike was how I got there. so unless they were willing to pay me my same wage to stay home...there was nothing I could do. we settled on me not using the high idle for 3 mins in the parkinglot.

but once i hit out of town... [evil] we have a nice curvy road to the next village and then again after that to the next... then the autobahn... IF I trusted anyone to ride the bike, I would love to find out how far you can hear the bike in this valley.

My 696 had a nasty habbit of stalling if it wasnt up to temperature in the mornings (granted it WAS november in new england...) but either way, the 796 high idles for about 10 seconds then kicks right down. Ive asked the neighbors at my new house and none of them even noticed me starting it in the morning. Just a few cranky people I guess.
I try to be a good neighbor. My bike has gotten a bit louder and I try to idle down the drive when I'm getting home from work at 1 am. I just can't wait to get some pipes on her.
Raux, your bike looks killer without the shrouds on the front. I'm really digging the color matched subframe too! It's funny because I was wondering why they painted them black to begin with. Do you know what the actual db level is coming from those pipes? Just curious as to how loud they really are.

yeah i hate the bi-color frames of the red, even the black doesn't match with the rough cast flat subframe compared to the smooth gloss main frame.
i have a friend with a db meter, i'll check them once i get db killers made so i can compare.

Does anyone happen to know what the heatshield set up is for the 796 termi slip on kit is? I only ask because the stock shields are the long black ones, but from the pics I've seen of the kit, they look like the short silver style..

I dont know, those pipes are 100% without a doubt louder than the Termis I had on my 696...though they do have a slightly less refined sound to them...and it doesnt have the same snap crackle pop on deceleration... :(
I have thought about removing the stickers but was thinking of waiting for my warentee to expire first...(dont ask me why)
The Darks are nothing compared to the Sil megaphones on my 620. At speed, the sound really comes out though. On deceleration, the popping is there on mine. I have an 1100. That didn't come overnight. I probably bought these about 5000 miles ago and that poping is becoming more pronounced..especially on really hot days! Like I said, they ARE getting louder. The other Arrow owners said that would happen so I'm becoming more satisfied with the pipes now. Kind of wish I had gone with the MIVVs (which sound incredible) but the black SS looked better than the full CF and the wear is better with the kind of mileage I put on my bikes.

I was actually thinking it might be due to the metal gel goop that I smeared around the pipe connections. I think my old bike didnt have that so it was sucking air in (and I thought I heard someone say that that popping is from air getting into the exhaust and allowing the unburned fuel to detonate in the system)

I was planning to get arrow darks due to nice look and price. However I do not want very loud exhaust. I have heard termis in 1100 (I have 796) and those sounded quite nice but definitely I would not want any louder exhaust. Currently I am thinking to buy either SC proj or arrow darks. If you have any recommendations let me know.
Are you getting the full system (2 into 1) SC pipe? It will be louder (I would assume) than the Arrows since it is a full system. My Arrow Darks are just slip ons so the sound is restricted until you get on the highway and open it up.
Check out all 3 on youtube. I think we may have all 3 clips in this thread? Some of them have pipes with and without the baffles. I took the dB killers out of my Arrows. With them..they were much too quiet and without them..they are still the same since I want them to roar! ;)

Thanks. If I would buy sc proj I do not know whether it is full system or slip ons. Good to know that full system could be louder. I have seen youtube videos but the sound quality for example in termi videos is quite far way from the real sound. I previously owned ktm superduke with akras and that was quite loud without baffles. I ended up drilling holes to baffles and got nice sound which did not disturb neighbours too much. Superduke with akras (no db killers) was a lot louder than monster with termis
Like I said, you'll be fine with the Arrow Darks keeping the dB killers in. The neighbors shouldn't really hear them.

I just finished installing a Arrow header and collector pipe, with Termi Slip ons. Had the pipes ceramic coated black. Note that installation on ABS Monsters is going to require some changes to the routing of the rear brake lines. Aside from that, it fit quite well and sounds amazing.

Looks good from that angle with all the black in back.
If it were mine, I think a red ARROW or DUCATI logo would look good on the pipe along with red pin stripe on the rims.
Decided to ditch the h-competition rodan box for something a little more "refined".... Mainly because I got bored with the look, and it flowed so freely that it was affecting performance and was just damn loud.. Secondly the exhaust packing was starting to come out..... I have been looking for a good slipon to work under the seat... I found the Yoshimura Rs-5 exhaust, which is a tri-oval shape. It has a nice flat head that would sit nicely under the seat.
It looks a little "ricey" and I plan on getting it coated black this winter to match rest of bike.. It sounds pretty awesome. not as loud, and a nice low rumble. Bike does sound happier and revs very smoothly without any popping or other issues...

did you check full bump compression to see if there is clearance. that looks a bit tight.
Over here in Italy we are making up a little group to get Sc to make a new full for us...
Basically we asked them if they would make us a modified version of their 2-1 full making it a 2-1-2 like the SxR monster style.
This is just the photoshopped pic we sent to them to make them understand what we want.
They seem very interested and willing to do the job if we find enough people. [thumbsup]

That's similiar to what I spoke with DanielleMoto about, I think he said SC is the shop he works with.
The only difference was to use the stock headers and bring the two out of the top of the swingarm instead of underneath.
basically it would also reduce the cost of the system as you would only be replacing the midpipe and cans and not the front headers.

Well, the cost is quite low, so it's not a big issue, as for the pipes changing all the system will give a much better power gain since it has a wider section starting stright out of the cilinders and also better and easier flow pattern, it's not strange that also the full Termis have a very similar layout(under the engine rather than inside/around it).

which puts it closer to the rear wheel's tallest point on full compression. that's the concern i would have.
there is a chart that shows the max amount of travel for the rear wheel. i think that's from ground. measure that at the center point of the top of the wheel.

Doworkson- why don't you extend the midpipe out taking the exhaust all the way under the light and mount the tag and signals under the exhaust?
That is definitely a possibility... Still playing around with it. Went for a short ride and there is a small exhaust leak around where the midpipe and muffler meet.... Have to figure out a way to solve that issue. Clearance seems fine but have yet to do any riding that would max out the rear wheel.
I think that I could extend it, and then re mount the plate somehow, maybe a bracket wrapped around the exhaust pipe, or off to the side... With the plate hanging down, clearance will be an issue, as would keeping it visible..... Another issue it securing the muffler in place... I think I will have to weld some bracket to the pipe and use springs from the muffler to pipe....
This winter when I tear down the bike for my eagerly anticipated head/cam/flywheel project I will also do that. Should be hard extending out the muffler, but more difficult mounting it.

Yeah, the exhaust packing was starting to come out, and Ryan seems to have forgotten about his previous customers after promising a baffle many months back....
However, it is still the same midpipe that came with his exhaust. It perfect because it goes from 2-1 just right at the point where the muffler slip-ons and when the muffler is on, it sits right up under the seat against two rubber bushings
I think that the 2-bros might be too big for under the seat. The reason I went with yoshimura is because they offer this muffler in 12.5"(w/o the end cap) and its pretty flat so it tucks up nicely under the bike. The top of muffler rests just on the underside of the sub frame
It's still a work in progress, hell, the bike is always a work in progress, and winter is already approaching soon
build a bracket using the old exhaust mount locations on the subframe rails and hang the exhaust from that.
or drill through the bottom of the CW tail piece and use that for support.
for the tag. build two vertical supports on the outside of the CW piece and attach here the signals are. [thumbsup]
either way. I still think you are going to be close on the bumps. a way to test is go ahead and remove the spring (keeping the shock on and go to full compression to the bumpstop. this is one of the reasons I was thinking about making a flatter oval or other shaped exhaust for the setup when i was looking at doing it. and probably why that early 696to998 motor change had that type of flat exhaust. I know that Ryan had said even on his at full compression it touches the fender.

The brand is Fresco, they make custom exhausts, you can actually ask them what you want and they'll make it.
The looks are great, build quality was crappy years ago but has improved dramatically nowdays.
Only con is they don't study the dynamics, so some give outstanding performance, some are crap...
On the italian forum I managed to find the owner of the first exhaust(the low side one), at the moment I'm trying to get in touch to get some feedback regarding performance.
I'm also trying to get in touch with another guy who studied his exhaust for years to get the most performance possible from the m1100, couldn't get any pics of his layout yet.

Won't work! Layout is lower, you'd bend the pipes, you maybe could turn full Termi cans sideways but not get them as high,
Leos and Termi slip-ons cannot be turned, due to the bent piece of pipe attached to the can. [roll]

Yeah, I agree, they look great, and basicly I think I can explain why:
What this guy does is only make exhausts upon request, so all the ones he makes are actually designed following owners directions. And owners always have better ideas because they want their bike to look its best.
After that they just sell designs they have already made.
The con is that if you ask for a layout that will perform crap they will just make it as you want it, so that's why some of their creations just won't perform!

Well, the fact is that if they studied an exhaust for performance they would just offer the same service as lots of others, on the other hand, if they studied every custom request well enough to get good performance the exhaust would cost much more and take much more time.
In this way they have lots of clients because they make whatever you want. And they can make it in a week's time.
On the other hand there are some guys searching max gains that have designed their own project and then have them build it for them, I actually am now in touch with one of these guys. He must be quite clever because he told me after he draw 2 different systems now they often ask him for advice on new projects.
Problem is that max performance is hard to achieve, I asked him a few tips and he just told me you have to get the right first, middle and final length proportions, the correct diameter in every section, the conical shape gradient, db, backpressure...and you name it..

I just sent an email to HP Corse asking if they are working on one for the 1100 Evo and they said it wouldn't be ready for another 2 months. I was looking at their other sidepipe instalations on other bikes and they look really sharp. I'm hoping it looks as good as I'm imagining ;D

I just found out that the system I wanted to buy, the Zard slip-ons that don't look all angular and weird, are no longer available in the US. The Zard system was the only one i've seen that, like the termi kit, doesn't come out at a wierd angle in relation to the bottom line of the rear subframe. The HP Corse system looks like it fits quite nicely.
I emailed Comp Werkes earlier in the week asking if they were going to make a exhaust for the 12' 1100EVO. I just got a reply from them stating that yes they are and it will be on the website in a week or two. [beer]
Thought I'd shoot a quick request for updates from those who have installed the Termi kit on their 1100s. I will soon be ordering. I found a great price from a dealer in VA. I'm being told the dealer needs to install to get the 2 year warranty and that it will require tuning. From what others have said here, the 3 key on/off process will reset the TPS. Anyone else done this with success. I'm totally into doing this myself. Just hate the way they make you feel your loosing out by not getting the warranty.

you should still get a warranty on parts. i think 1 year
You'll also need to set the bike to USA and miles, etc. If the dealer is Duc Pond, they can walk you through it but I'm sure they'd rather do the set up on their Ducati handheld computer. Your choice.
Generally you only get a new bike warranty on accessories when they are installed prior to delivery. Otherwise, you just get the parts warranty.

Not in 2011 NAS (USA) 796 ABS owner's manual. Maybe in your older 696? Didn't you post those instructions somewhere?
1) Hold the mode switch up while you turn the key to on. Hold it up until the display reads "00000 PRO". Release switch.
2) Press the switch up until the display will read "UNIT SET"
3) Hold the switch down until display reads "US". Release switch.
4) Press the switch down until you get to the desired setting.
5)Hold the switch down until the display reads "MEM xx" then Release switch.
6) Turn key to off position.
Great. A little more on the set up. Talked with local dealer today that says it has to be tuned for CO2...to run right.. Do the steps posted above apply to all ducs (mine is a 2009 1100)?

Yes, it seems like the stickers CAN come off...i didnt pick at mine really because i think i may leave them on. they seem like just regular stickers, so im not exactly sure how they are going to hold up to the heat. CF cans dont really get hot like stainless does....so ill be interested to see how they hold up. hopefully they will still come off at a later date after being baked on.

uh. first. you might want to turn off the cap lock.
second, unless you are modifying the intake system or running a non-standard filter you'll be fine if you just run a standard slipon replacement.
if you run something like boomtubes, you should use a powercommander V.
that being said, a Powercommander V will help smooth out the bike even with a stock setup.

Slim1899, It's like any other Ducati. It get's pretty hot when your not moving. The exhaust itself is ceramic coated, I can actually touch it after long ride without burning my fingers. As for the tailight, no issues there. I have ridden the bike 1-2 hour trips and my tail lights still looks brand new. As for burnning passengers, I could not tell you. After I knocked up my wife she's no longer availble to ride with me plus I recently remove the passenger pegs/stock rear set in favor of a woodcraft rearset. I'm ridding solo now, so no passenger burn test.

Quality was excellent, installing was not quite as good. The two elbow connectors look the same but they are not. Had I put the three inch square diagram that poses as instructions under a microscope I would have noticed the different part numbers. Had to find out the hard way. One side is still has a little movement in it, nothing I can do seems to make it as solid as the other side.
With the DB killers in the sound is sort of OK at idle, just a bit deeper, but they come to life when the wheels are turning and sound really great (but not that much louder than stock).
DB killers out? Awesome..... but I'm not sure if it might be a little bit too much for my somewhat aged taste.

So I'm contemplating some minor surgery on the killers (above) to maybe find an in between level. Anyone have any suggestions as to cuts/holes?

Although I have to go back in there anyhow. I just put the Evotech kit on my bike last week, while also swapping out the signal lights for LED's, but I didn't put resistors on, so now I need to go back into the wiring to do that too. Sounds like another couple hours in the garage while the other half looks after the kids!! ;D

Got it from Monsterparts, (where else?) Geoff's price is competitive but then there was shipping, tax, duty, brokerage blah blah blah. Probably about 900 Cdn in all. Same as the Vance and Hines CS Ones. Had them ordered from Dennis Kirk for a couple of months but seemed like they weren't ever going to arrive in stock so I gave up on them.

$2100!! I would like them better if they were a bit higher, but that is just me.
What do you not like about the H-Comp? I think it is the best looking system out there but the db's scared me away.

Exactly what you stated, the db's. I love the look of the H-comp system and no other system really comes close in terms of aesthetic appeal for me.
However, it is way too loud. To clarify how loud we are talking.. I enjoy loud exhaust. I have GP exhaust on my gsxr and it's loud but it sounds good.
The H-Comp is on another level of loud entirely. It is ear piercing and ear wax liquifying. I find myself trying to ride without making too much noise rather than just enjoying the ride. I even installed a fabricated db killer into the tip in an attempt to help. It did, but only slightly.
I'm currently toying with the idea of buying custom fabricated mufflers and mounting them under the bike using the H-Comp mid-pipe and a fabricated 1-into-2 adapter that would allow the attachment of 2 real mufflers under the seat.
Very similar to what DoWorkSon has done with the Yoshi RS-5 but with 2 smaller mufflers; probably from 2-Bros.

I too have thought of the idea with my H-comp mid pipe. I was actually thinking of using 2 Competition Werkes under the seats. Why Competition Werkes exhaust? There still loud but not ear bleeding loud and they look good. I loved them on my 848 Streetfighter.

Trying to install my LeoVince Carbon's on my 2011 796 and I've got two issues: First, I can't get the two pipes to look the same from the back. One is either lower or closer to center than the other. I've tried it a few times and still can't get them even. Call me picky but they should both come out the back at the same height and angle.
Second, they're not tight. There's mention of an exhaust gasket in the "instructions" [roll] but I didn't have one stock and the kit didn't come with them. Anyone else notice this? I haven't started it up yet but I'm assuming it'll leak as much around the pipes as what actually comes out the back.
Any help appreciated! I'd love to get this thing out on the road ASAP. Thanks. ...Steve

I can wiggle my pipes in the socket at the midpipe. (my 696 with termis did it real bad one one side) the 796 with the arrows a little less, but still there. My cans came with a tube of goop to smear on the joint...it was like a graphite impregnated grease of some sort...which naturally leaked all over the pipes when it got hot [roll] but it wiped up with some WD40.
Either way, all these aftermarket exhausts are basically a strait shot of pipe...they dont really create enough back pressure to cause that joint to leak much (then again with the DB killers installed that might be a different story.)
As for the allignment issue your having, pictures would be helpful. One from the tail showing the difference in the two, and one from each side showing how you have the mounting brackets...Im almost suspicious you may have one of the tabs that hang off the frame the wrong-way-round, or the stack different from one side to the other (by stack i mean the order in which the hanger and strap are on the mounting bolt..)

Keep us posted on how this works out. I've got the CW fender eliminator with the plate mounted in the low position...even with that it has 2 dimples in the plate where its smacked into the hugger...and Im not even a heavy guy!) If you can get clearance for a pipe under there, I'd love to see what you come up with! (and I know its been done...Indianapolis ducati has a track 696 with an undertail exhaust... http://indyducati.com/articles/view.asp?id=264 (http://indyducati.com/articles/view.asp?id=264) ...but since its a dedicated track bike they were able to ditch the tail light to grab a little more space.)

Mine were a little loose around the joints but there was minimal exhaust blowing out anywhere. Now they've been on a few weeks they're nicely gunked up and much tighter. No excessive decel pops - prolly less than before - so it's all good. But yeah, I can't get mine lined up exactly [bang]

Looks almost identical to mine, lol. As far as the DB killers, I took mine to muffler shop and had then chop about half the length of the DB killer off! The sound is a bit deeper than before, I might drill some holes next and try that.
Hey ladies and gents, I'm looking into perhaps upgrading to a termi system. I like the idea that it comes with a more active ECU and air filter as well as the fact that I love the sound. So while looking through, there is titanium and carbon fibre. I know there is a weight loss advantage with both, but I'm not a track rider (yet). Are there performance/sound differences between the two? I'd appreciate your insight...

I believe the Ti cans have a catalyst in them...or they get hot enough to have a catalytic affect...something to that effect. Other than that there should be no difference between them.
Ti is homologated if you leave the db killers in. Ragged edge of "civilized". 8)

Hmm, good call. I recal a difference in sound between the 696 with Carbon Termis, and the 796 with Arrows, but I guess I attributed it more to the somewhat conical shape of the termis and the difference in engine displacement more than anything, I hadn't really thought about the difference in material making much difference in sound.
I know the Carbons sound great. I heard those on the monster I test drove. Personally I'd prefer the "look" of Titanium, but that one reason alone doesn't really make the choice valid.
I could use some teachins on the term/idea of homologated pipes. Is that, from what I gathered contextually, only pertaining to decibels? Does it involve other aspects such as Freeclimb mentioned (a cat con)? In turn making them more/less restrictive?
I went to the termi site, and perhaps they have a sister site, but I found nothing for pipes the make for ducati.
Also, a big question, is it worth it? Is the ECU, filter and pipes from termi a better set-up/deal then a filter, aftermarket pipes and a mapped ECU?
That last question will get very opinion based I'm sure, but we all made the smart decision to own a monster, so I thought the opinions would be worth consideration.

I just purchased my new monster yesterday and wow. My only concern is cw slip on. Personally I think it makes the bike look and sound so much better. I would recommend doing an on line search using the part number, and asking the seller for a discount, you'd be surprised by what you can get, also keep an eye on eBay.
I just purchased a full termignoni exhaust system for my 1100 and got a big discount just by asking.

After reading about cutting down Db killers to achieve a desired sound level I decided to forgo the full Db killer and go straight to the short version. I ordered 2 bronze bushings that have flanges that are 2 inches in diameter and inner diameters of 1 1/2 inches. I drilled and tapped holes next to the flange and bolted them into the Leo Vince pipes with a lock nut on the inside.
The sound level is still fairly robust butt no longer has the sharp edge that it had, the sound is round and mellow butt not very conservative!
If I decide I want more attenuation I can braze some washers or tubes to the bushings. For now the sound quality is quite nice, and I have 16 bucks into it so far!
I went to the local dealership tow days ago to have my rear tire replaced, and waited and watched them doing it...
Bad mistake ... I got to hear the sound of exhausts on different bikes there, all of them are termis.. and now I found myself just finished reading this whole thread and thinking about which slip ons to get ;D
Okaay .. I finally stop resisting the temptation to get a new exhaust. I contacted some of our sponsors, but I found out that there's an Arrow dealer here who also sells other brands. After researching the web for sound example of Arrow, SC, Zard and LeoVince, I visited the shop today. He deosn't have Arrow in stock but have LeoVince, SC Project and some other brands that I don't remember.
Anyway, I ended up bought Leo Vince One EvoII Carbon slip-ons ;D
When I got home from the store, I installed the LV slip-ons with my daughter. BTW, I weighed the slip-on on a bathroom scale. The stock slip-on weigh 4 kg each, while the LV weigh 2 kg each. Don't know how accurate or inaccurate the scale is, but that's the result I got.
After the installation, which was easy... I started the engine, with the db killers in the slip-ons. It's louder than stock slip-ons and has deeper (bass) sound than stock but I think it's not that much louder.
Then out of curiosity I removed the db killers and started the engine. Now, it's much louder than stock ;D I really like the deep sound and the growl. [thumbsup] So I decided to leave the db killers out and see how it's like tomorrow for commuting. If it's too loud and sets off cars alarm in the office parking lot, I'll replace the db killer. But for now, I like this new deep, bass and loud sound. [Dolph]
Installed my MIVV GP Slip On and they sound great! Can't wait to try them out tomorrow since the weather is suppose to be real nice [thumbsup]

Been told by the Ducati mechanic that I need to upgrade my air filter and the ECU maps due to the exhaust upgrade, has anybody else been told this?

Supposedly he connected the ECU to his laptop and stated the bike's fuel injectors were jumping up and down, basically they were not repsonding to throttle position properly. He reset the ECU and ask me to ride it as is then bring it back to see if they have adopted to the new exhaust.
what exhaust did you put on it?
Are the O2 sensors still connected?
Did he reset the Throttle position sensor?
If everything is as stock except for the slipons, then you might have a different issue unrelated to the exhausts.
If you change the air filter, THEN you have to remap the ECU or add a fueling additional computer like a powercommander
more air in needs more fuel in.
more air out, is just a minor adjustment that CAN benefit from a remap and/or PC but isn't needed
Have the MIIV GP slip on and the O2 sensor are still install. He stated that it wasn't getting enough air due to the stock filter and recommended me to purchase a different filter than he would re-adjust the mapping with the new filter.

Yeah nobody needs to hold their breath. Got some more informations. That prototype is 2 years old and had trouble getting an official permit. Because of that it never could enter production and it is also more than questionable we will ever see something like that. Maybe a slipon for the 1100 Evo but nothing for the 796 or 1100.
Holy guacamoly! I would love something like that! As I eliminated my chicken wings another muff support would be needed, butt I would buy something like that in a heartbeat.

Those do sound great. I wish Danmoto would offer a $350 exhaust with better fit and finish. There aren't an options between the $240 Danmoto and the $580 entry level Arrow/LV. There is a market niche for someone to fill.
I completely agree. The pipes themselves seem to be decent quality, but the mounting hardware really could use some improvement.
I did spend the extra $100 and had the danmoto pipes ceramic coated.. Took me to the $350 price target..
Well I sold the Danmotos. They were just too loud and I was tired of riding with earplugs. I decided to go with the Leo Vince LV-Ones as they look good, are relatively inexpensive, and have a removeable baffle. I thought it was too quiet with the baffles in and sounded pretty close to stock, atleast when it comes to volume. Conversely, it was too loud with the baffles out, so I decided to cut them. Was pretty easy to cut them with a Dremel, I think the hardest time I had was getting the damn baffles back in and lined up so I could get the retaining screw back in.

Swapped out the 796 exhaust with 1100Evo setup. Pretty simple just direct bolt off/on, hard part is finding the used headers cheap.

Finally got to install my SC Project 2-1 exhaust. Running it without the baffles and it is loud but still has that monster growl. Really opens up the left side nicely and disappears into the bike.

Looking through some of the exhaust pics I notice someone used a yoshi undertail pipe in place of the Roden box they removed.....why hasnt anybody done this with say a LeoVince LV-One??? Someone get me some pipe measurements I might just do this!!

looks like the jardine pipe would be the best bet. I can see the issue your talkin about in that article like no brake light, but he also used a full length rounder pipe. If i got a cheap enough Leo i could cut it down to about that size, im using a intergrated rear tailight so blinkers wouldnt be an issue. hmmmmm Have to keep an eye out on ebay and the 600rr forums for a dirt cheap jardine, I like the 2 into 1 pipe in the pic
Any of you guys know if Two Brothers exhaust any good? Besides Termis, two brothers is the only brand in my area. Do i still need to tweak my ecu if i decide to get two bros? Price diff between the two made me want to consider two bros, Termi 50% more expensive.
I had the two brothers slips on my 900, and it sounded great. I'll try to find a picture. Build quality was excellent.
How difficult is it to install and/or uninstall the removable baffles on the Termignonis slip-ons? I'm considering putting them on my 796, but am reading they are too loud with the baffles out and too quiet with the baffles in. I also read a thread a while back saying the baffles were hard to remove, but can't find that thread again.

I bought a used 696 with Termi's - how can I tell if it's been installed with the ECU/Filter? Sorry if this question doesn't really make sense.
At slow speeds 1st and 2nd gear, I'm hearing a little backfiring when letting off the throttle.
If am upgraded ECU was installed, I believe the word "racing" will scroll across when you first turn the ignition. Hopefully someone can confirm that is correct.
The best way is the remove the tank skin and lift the tank (and the overflow/ vent hoses). You'll be able the see the DP ECU and reference it by product code.
If you pull the airbox lid, you'll be able to see the filter type. Stock filters have an orange ring and paper filter media. I cant comment on what the DP filter looks like since I have a K&N.
This may sound like a lot of work but its only about 30 minutes time.
I think that looking at the display is easiest. It will say if the kit is in there, it says Racing.
Just got mine back and had the Leo Vince slip ons tucked up and in against the bottom of the seat. Looks a lot better than it did, and sounds great. Too loud without the baffles in, so I'll probably install them soon. Pretty happy with the new look.

I took it to a small, custom welding shop that does mostly high end cars, but dabbles in bikes and explained that I wanted the exhaust valve removed and the Leo Vince cans tucked up and in. He did an amazing job cleaning it up and I'm really happy with the look. I haven't ridden it yet as the roads are still covered with winter salt and gravel, but I can tell you it's ridiculously loud and shoots the occasional fire ball out the back when I blip the throttle. I'm going to put the db killers back in and hope it quiets down a bunch, and go from there. I also have a Duc ee valve eliminator on the way so I can completely remove the motor. Right now, the cable is off and the entire valve assembly and y pipe was removed and I haven't seen a CEL light, but we'll see how that goes.
It's definitely "snappier" in sound and has better throttle response, but I do need to address the noise issue before I can ride it.
Not sure if this is mentioned as Ive seen a few posts about the SC Project Exhausts.
I wanted a GP style exhaust to eliminate the "moped" skinny tire/huge cans look I really disliked about the 696. (especially sitting next to my brother's R1) After a 2 month wait for a Spark exhaust that never showed I found that SC Project offered a low exit MotoGP style kit for the 796. After speaking with G-Force out of Thailand they assured me that the 796 GP kit bolts up to the 696 without issue and sure enough they weren't kidding. Bolts up with no issue*
*Okay there is a very minor issue and its that the O2 sensor out of the rear (top?) head interferes with the rear brake line. I went to the local auto parts store, grabbed a Ti exhaust wrap and heat resistant sleeve and wrapped the pipe and sleeved the sensor et voila! no more issues. Fits like a glove. That stock system is a PITA to remove without removing the tank.
Pros:
Gets rid of the moped look
Loud as all hell
"can" is removable so you could probably switch to another slip on if you wanted to
Ti pipes turn a freakishly cool Blue color after heating up
Cleans up the back of the bike tremendously
Cons:
No Db Killer
Loud as all hell
Will require some sort of fuel modification or ECU flash (z-Fi, Rexxer, etc...)
O2 sensor on the mid pipe is kind of unsightly sticking up just in front of the rear brake lever/pedal (which is removable with the Rexxer Ive been told)

Mine.. keeps some distance in the pipes to maximize the power curve through the RPM range. Sounds good without a baffle, loud enough but not obnoxious douchebag type loud.

Before anyone asks, NO I did not steal them, they were on the 2012 Ducati 696 that I bought on craigslist, which I have since totaled. So I am now trying to identify them to find out exactly how much they are worth, and I'm having trouble.
All I know is that they are some kind of SBK, which is all it says on the actual cans. So if anyone has seen these particular exhausts before, please, I am begging for any more information! Thanks in advance fellas

Leo Vince constantly updates their products. SBK is an older model if I remember correctly. You could try sending a photo to infousa@leovince.com I wouldn't worry much as long as I am sure of fitment. They do make great exhaust. A fair price compared to any quality brand and they should move quickly.
Nice looking exhaust... how did they sound on the 696? Leos are on the short list for my 796...

Finally got a set of Arrows on the 796! They look pretty nice, construction is pretty good but the cans don't line up at the rear... the left can is 'clocked' a bit further in... someone at Arrow needs to reset the welding jig. Install was easy enough, even without any instructions. Biggest problem was trying to form the muffer band around the exhaust can, with the rubber piece trying to fall out all the time.
I was actually surprised... when I mashed the starter button the first time, I had to do a double-take to make sure I actually didn't have the factory cans on it, it was so quiet. A subsequent 100mi road trip proved otherwise, however. The low-end has increased a LOT, I can take it down to about 3200rpm now without all the herky-jerky, and the top end is much stronger; this on the factory ECU.
Pulling the DB killers out, however... jeepers! those things are loud! As much as I love the sound, I will need to run the DB killers... after modification!
Anyone have any experience with the straight DBK's and how to mod them? I've looked at a few videos, but most of them are for I-4 bikes with different DBK configurations.

I experimented with a few modifications on my Arrow DBK's, including adding holes in both the length of the baffle and in the end, but at the end of the day there was little difference... so I just chopped it all off. Currently, the DBK's have 2" of pipe internally...

Took the 796 out Friday night... the cut DBK's are perfect! Still more power and lugging ability, good sound without the boom.
One of these days I'll ride out with the DBK's in, and ride back with them out just to see if there is any real-world benefit to the extra noise.... but I find it unlikely it will be anything earth-shattering.

Low mount SC-Project that replaced Carbon Termis, so Termi ecu still there, along with PC5 and O2 Optimizer. Had her dynoed, so runs a lot better below 4000. No two dynos are going to agree, but mine registered 86 rwhp on this dyno. Since then 24000km service, and the mech said my desmo closing clearances were loose, so might have improved. Feels a little smoother, but I could be kidding myself.

What make/model dyno? Latest Dynojet dyno programme reads up to 10% lower than previous software on the same machine. Factory Pro dynos also read lower than previous generation Dynojet dynos. This is what industry insiders have told me.

There are different Dynojet models and even the same model can vary due to different maintence and software upgrades, etc. I have seen the numbers drop 10% or more due to new software, so even the comparisons on the same dyno only go back so far. After a period of time I have to add 10% to get the readings comparable over the years.
