Title: Spare Parts?
Post by: DomDucati on October 01, 2008, 07:37:59 AM
Does anyone have a spare shifter linkage rod and a kickstand that would fit an S2R?

I have the stock kickstand from a M750.  If it will fit your bike, it's yours.

Thanks, guys.  Anybody know if that kickstand will work?  If no one knows, I'll grab it from you, Frank (aka Big Boy), at the next M&G and we'll give it a check.

I-m pretty sure it'll fit. When you want to put it on, lemme know, I'm usually right around the corner

The linkage I have is from a 996. I'm sure it'll fit your bike. Gimme a call and we'll see when I can swing by to play doctor with your bike  [evil]

I gotta get Paul to help me bend the shifter peg back into place first, and then we can mess with the rod.  Paul, you around tomorrow afternoon maybe?

the kickstand from the 750 isn't the same.  your s2r uses the aluminum kickstand similar to the ones on the sbks whereas the stock one off the 750 is the steel one with the nub on it.  your bike is probably going to lean over quite a bit using the steel one.  will it bolt up? yes, but again the lean

the stock shift rod from the 996 will be a bit short on your s2r.  I have a CF rod that is of the correct length if you need it

finally getting back to normal here after the hurricane and should be back scanning the dmf a bit more regularly

You could tap the kickstand and bolt up a bar end to the end of it to make the length longer. Or just take it to a welder to have an additional piece of 1" metal welded to the kickstand for extra length. My S4"r" has one like that because after installing the SSS the bike leaned over too much. As far as form and function are concerned, my take is this: #1 that quick fix works well with minimal expense, #2 no one really looks at the stand and if they do, it really isn't noticeable.

Well, the kickstand I have works fine, it's just got a bit ground off of it, which makes me a little uncomfortable with regards to stability.  I may just scour the board for an S2R kickstand over time.

Hiero, can I take you up on this?  Buy you beers or a dinner in exchange?  No huge rush as what I have works, just a little bent.  Perhaps at the next M&G?  Thanks for the replies, guys.
