Anyone bidding on this?
My guess, the reserve is probably set at 14,500. I wish I had the money. I bought a new S2R in may just so I could make sure I had one of the "old" body styles.

This one?
The guy has the info all wrong.
Displacement 1198.4cc
Bore x Stroke 106x67.9mm
Compression Ratio 12.8:1
Power* 180hp - 132.4kw @ 9750rpm
Torque* 99.1lb-ft 134Nm @ 7750rpm
Those are the 1098R specs....
Meh...the Tricolore's have never appealed to me...they are too busy for my taste :-\
Blasphemy! The Tricolore is the schiznit!!! An amazing homage to the grand and classic Monster body style we've all come to know and love. #187 will never leave my stable! It's not too busy, it's too damn awesome for your eyeballs to comprehend so they're sending more signals to your visual cortex than you can process. This usually happens to BMW riders. Are you sure you ride a Monster?
It's the one that tipped over at Indy ;D
they're not showing the damaged side

I whole heartedly aggree! [thumbsup] I understand that they have some kind of special place but I think they take away from the bike because of the color scheme.
Fact is, we may never be able to buy a new top of the line monster with the original body style. If I had the money, there would be no doubt..

The fact that this is Chicago Cycles says it all. >:(
Just checked E-bay and there is like at least 3 08' S4R tricolors on there. what gives? One guy is asking 19900. Why is everyone trying to sell? Are there people out there who buy and ride for one season then get rid of the bike? Wow if that is the case, might be able to find one cheap. Unfortunately it would be used. Not sure if buying a used monster is a good idea. I've never had the front wheel off the ground, but you never know who has beaten it.
There are likely some whackjobs out there who think the Tricolore is so collectible that it's already appreciated in value -- good luck with that silly notion. It may be collectible in the long run, but not this early in the game so those who think that way are in la-la land. Meanwhile, as far as a used Monster goes I wouldn't worry about it too greatly. If you're going to consider a Monster (or any bike for that matter) then getting as much information about service records, mileage, etc. that you can will guide you well. These are very well made bikes with a terrific reliability record so it's not like a Monster with some miles on it is necessarily any more a risk than any other bike out there. I'd argue that, for the most part, since the Ducati demographic is slightly older and more experienced than the comparable Japanese bike buyer, it's more likely that you'll find a used Ducati to be well taken care of and in better shape than its Japanese counterpart. When I gaze down the line at the bikes on the typical Sunday morning ride I see far more seriously beaten Suzuki SVs and GSXRs and such than I do thrashed Ducs. Food for thought.
Not a tricolor, but had to mention this one. I have seen this bike on ebay at least 4 times since May and never reaches the reserve.. I wonder what astronomic reserve they set.. this is a cool monster. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Motorcycles___DUCATI-MONSTER-S4R-2007-LIKE-NEW-249-MILE_W0QQitemZ350103585476QQddnZMotorcyclesQQddiZ2283QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item350103585476&_trkparms=72%3A727|39%3A1|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p4506.c0.m245.

yeah, maybe it is not too busy, i think what i took for business was the bike screaming "LOOK AT ME!!! I HAVE THREE DIFFERENT COLORS!!! NEATO!!!"
heh heh heh
it's nice that everybody is entitled to their opinions ;D
This is what I've done to my tricolore. swaped out all my plastics for different ones. If you lo closely in the backround you can ee my tricolor tank on the shelf....Pretty weird huh?

Since it's a Monster it's got to be sweet, but I'd rather a black S4RS than a Tricolore.
none of these sellers even had the decency to upgrade the exhaust before putting it up for sale... sad.

If you notice, it is listed by a chopper shop. They probably think all Ducatis go 300mph and cost $11tyb.

That is a beautiful bike! I love the classic logo, I'm in the slow process of changing over my body work to save the original pieces (mine is just an S2R 800, makes a lot more sense for your Tri )
I just sold my 695 and really miss it, even to the point of considering selling the 848 to get another Monster. But then I'd miss the 848 and end up buying a 1098 or something else impractical.
It's been one of those weeks. :-\
