DQ gave me Moto GP tix as a Valentine's Day gift :-*, so we're definitely in!

This time + 1 , we will be in , go Sunday leave Monday , turn 11( finish & start grand stand ticket include) hope I get this right.

I'm trying... Maria's never been to any kind of m/c races until I took her to Supercross @ the ball park, and the AFM/Tigre yard sale.

With being unable to work because of my back, and as of a phone call an hour ago, now out of a job because of a tightening economy, I'm not sure if I'll be able to pull GP off this year. ??? I'll just keep my fingers crossed and see how it all turns out. :-\

Riding down Friday and heading back Monday morning.  Only going to the track Sunday (grandstands turn 4).  Can't wait!!

It would be criminal for you to miss Moto GP! :( Maybe if you put out for DQ he might buy you tickets. ;:|

I will be crashing in my friends hotel room unless someone is going camping or something.

I'll be there with a couple friends.

Being that it's my first time going, does everyone meet up before and watch the races from a certain place along the track? Is it worthwhile going for all days? Or just for the main event on Sun?

How does one get onto the Ducati Island I hear about?

Just walk over.  If you want all the Ducati hospitality stuff... munchies, cold drinks, schwag, Ducati Island Grandstand seating... then make sure you have your ID and motorcycle registration with you. There was a problem in the past, when all they wanted to see was your key, and folks were handing off keys and abusing the freebies. Last year they wanted to see registrations to prove you were a Ducati owner. Yeah, it's lame, but it only takes a few bad apples...

If you ave a D.O.C. membership card, that should work for you too.

In! Two day pass, camping off track in the same kick-ass RV park in Carmel Valley. I'm bringing the espresso machine this time  wt:

I'm looking to split a hotel room. Fri. & Sat. night. Something el cheap-o. Which in Monterey is not bad.
Last year I spent about 5 hours total at the hotel - otherwise it was play play play outside!

Worked well because we road down with minimal gear.

instructions for getting passes for parking on ducati island will be posted on ducati north america site ... they usually post the data a week or three before the event.

the ritual once you get a parking pass is first come first served for parking on the island ... so just cuz you get a pass does not insure you get a parking spot.  parking usually fills up by 10 AM on the island, and they have had over-flow parking just off the island for the past few years to handle late arrivals. also, if you have a side stand puck (the little plastic doo-hickies that ducati hands out each year at the island) bring it, as they tend to run out quickly, and if you get stuck in one of the dirt areas, the pucks come in handy to prevent a tip-over of your bike. (note: the pucks do nothing to prevent tip over from drinking too much)

also, they (scramp monkeys) should be spraying the dirt on the island with a dust control spray this year ... they did not do it last year, and the dust was a little bit of an issue.  the years that they did spray, no issue with dust on bikes.

I'm thinking of riding down Sunday morning for the GP race then riding back that evening. Anyone up for this?

The wife and I and a Friend are in with 2 day passes.  We're camping on Fox hill.  It was awesome last year, and I am looking forward to it this year!!!

Hey spear any details? I'm considering camping too. What's it like? Can you actually sleep? Is it packed?

We camp about 10 miles offsite...to avoid the 2AM partying, dust, and lack of facilities. You remember the place, Demostro:

Showers, full hook-ups, level, and you just need a vehicle you can sleep in to camp there (e.g. no ground camping).

Camping is fun than stay frekkkk hotel , I prefer camping , but this year Mrs will comes along , so we will stay by down town Monterey.
Last year we had a  band play until cop shut us down around mid night , It was blash with party  [beer] [beer] [beer]  [thumbsup] loving it next day GP baby.

Damnit! I always schedule stuff over race weekends. I'm getting my eyeballs sliced open and lasers shot at them. :(

It's not too packed, we found space on Sat afternoon with no real problem, Fox hill is just that though.. a HILL so a little slanty :)
But ear plugs and  a bottle of wine and I slept fine  [wine]

I usually camp at fox  hill.  Moto only, ya know.   Not bad at all, but yes sleep with ear plugs.  It's a good community up there, plus you can fall out of bed and see the track.  Stayed up there two years ago; met three guys from way nor-cal who were corner workers.  Went and got a case of beer and a pizza and stayed up late.  Right next to me were four younger guys on there first moto trip, down from wash/idaho.  The were way unprepaired so I gave them a blue tarp for shade (it was the hot year) and some beans for breakfast. Friends for like. 
Last year we camped above turn 11 and that certanily had it's merrits like easier access to showers.  But I also kinda felt like I was going to be run over by and SUV pilot all night.   Its a way diffrent crowd.
The first year of MotoGP I snoozed on getting tickets and we ended up sleeping at archery.  I thought it was going to suck but it worked out.  Most of the good spots (anything resembeling level) are gone quick.  We got there late fri. so I thought we were screwed.  Go all the way behind the hill, back past where the big rigs park.  If you play it cool you can sleep on a fairway at the golf corse and it's really soft.  Suckie part is waiting in line to get up the hill to the races, that really sucked. 

Summery: Fox Hill is the best for moto.  Generous, cool people to meet. 
T11: Not bad, just dirt and big trucks, obnoxious people scattered throughout.  Showers if you're into that.
Archery:  Beats sleeping off site.

A question about moto parking at the track other than the Ducati Island:

Ticketmaster (http://www.ticketmaster.com/venue/229634) does not offer moto-specific tickets parking, but on MotoGPTickets.com (http://www.motogptickets.com/index.asp?pageid=WWW_MOTOGP_TICKETS_UNITEDSTATES&raceid=usa) they do (but now sold-out) ...

If I can't get onto the Ducati Island am I only gonna find non-paved parking at this point since tickets for paved parking are sold out?  ???  Suggestions?

so as this being my first time....

im probably thinking of camping seems to be cheaper then hotels (gawd damn r they outrages) ya i know im doing this last mintue,but i was curious on what would must needed items to bring
and figure how the hell to strap it all to the bike

You need to find your accommodations (camping or hotel) ASAP. Things fill up quickly for that weekend.

hotels are all booked or way to expensive... goign with camping!!!

Anyone want to share a hotel ? kinda spendy alone. Last year we had a blast piling in a room.  [thumbsup]

Yeah, park in the dirt like 30000 other people.  Really, park by turn 5, it's easy and it's right where you want to be anyway.


Camp at the track, Fox Hill if you can find'em.  Ebay, stubhub, here, BARF, one of those should get you tics if you cant get them from the track.
Lets see, last year it was cold at night, a few years ago people got brain damage from the heat and high prices... bring a tent, layers, tooth brush and cash/credit cards.  You can buy anything you need in town.  The important thing is to get there!  You don't need a parking pass if you camp at the track.  Actually, if you have a camping site, it's good for two  vehicles, so you can get one spot and someone else can be the second vehicle.  You'll still need a ticket to get in.

I use to rent the house with garage by Carmel , but this year Thao plans to come along , I only booked hotel , now she canceled because business coming , oh well more party for me  :) [clap]  , if you like pm me I can link to a friend who is tooking over the house this year.
