Title: Where to get Lo Jack installed in Austin
Post by: gh0stie on October 06, 2008, 12:44:46 PM
Hello all, I just purchased an 02 monster 620 on saturday, I've been told these things are stolen quite frequently and I would like to protect mine........has anyone here had it installed and can give me some info/costs etc?

The Lojack website seemed very vague.

Thanks! looking forward to meeting and riding with you all sometime

Hammid

Yea, Lojack listings only goes by your bike maker dealers and Moto Austin doesn't do Lojack. Give Central Texas Power Sports in George Town a call. Woods Fun Center also does Lojack but their techs wasn't confident when I mention I have a Duc.

Thanks, so I take it lojack isn't that big among Austin Ducati owners, how do you guys protect your rides? I was told these are some of the most stolen bikes around here............was I told wrong?

As long as you keep your bike inside or covered, you should be fine. People don't really steal new ducatis because they are pretty much worthless without the code key. To be ale to use the bike without the original keys, you would have to order a new ecu and a new set of gauges and a new set of key to go with a new ignition. this runs about 2k and you can only order it from a dealer, which requires a ton of paperwork.

So if you get insurance that covers theft, you should be more than fine.  ;)

Well I live in an apartment complex so bringing it inside is not an option, I will look into purchasing a cover............I have full coverage insurance but my deductible is pretty freaking high so I'd rather not have to use it.

Thanks again

Cover and cable lock it to something solid.

Lojack is hit or miss since you may get your bike back or you may get parts of it back.
