Haven't made up my mind if I'm gonna do it Sunday or Saturday yet. Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: duc_fan on October 08, 2008, 11:02:51 AM I'll probably be at PIR for ToR on Saturday. [moto]
Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: JohnnyDucati on October 08, 2008, 11:18:31 AM Believe it or not, I have a hankering for going out to Maupin and Tyghe Valley this weekend.
I have mounted the studded snow tires to the Rs, so I should be good to go. My disreputable colleagues at work are trying to talk me into this. They were out there some weeks ago and mentioned the great roads. hmmmmm . . . Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: JohnnyDucati on October 08, 2008, 11:24:44 AM what are these studded snow tires you speak of? Truth be told, they are the virtual kind, I guess. I hear the snow level will be dropping down to about 3000 feet tomorrow. Good lord - snow level? - I'm starting to sound like Mother . . . Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: ryandalling on October 08, 2008, 12:34:11 PM crikeys... what the hell happens if somebody does go down... and that thing rolls over their legs... those tires are scary.

If they're wearing leathers they get them perforated for free! Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: Visolara on October 08, 2008, 01:19:15 PM I didnt look at those two video's, so if this has been mentioned, sorry. :)
Last winter Dutaci had some event where Stoner rode the motogp bike on an ice track with studded tires. I dont recall where I saw the video, maybe on Ducati's site, but I bet if you looked on youtube, its there. Pretty crazy shit! Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: krolik on October 08, 2008, 06:37:30 PM The route from HWY 35 through Dufer to Tyghe Vally and Wamic back to HWY 26 is a good ride. [moto]
It wasn't Stoner on the ice-tired Ducati, he was there but he didn't ride it, it was a factory test rider on the 2007 990 CC MotoGP bike. [thumbsup] Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: SaltLick on October 08, 2008, 07:42:49 PM those guys are frikkin nutzoid. Im afraid to ride when the temp dips below freezing for criminey sakes!

Post by: duc_fan on October 09, 2008, 10:29:59 AM crikeys... what the hell happens if somebody does go down... and that thing rolls over their legs... those tires are scary. Don't go down. [cheeky] Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: ryandalling on October 09, 2008, 11:33:49 AM Don't go down. [cheeky] No... I get what you are saying... but I saw Semo on a vintage bike ... get ran over by another vintage bike... straight accross his body... and leave rubber marks across his chest.... and then he got up... got back on his bike... and road it into the pits.... followed by... hopping onto his 600cc for the very next race. I just do not think this would happen... with tires like that.... In fact those tires give me nightmares... Happy thoughts.. must think happy thoughts... mmmm.... bacon.... [bacon] Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: Rnordy229 on October 09, 2008, 11:41:09 AM Suppose to be 70 this Sat. :o Nothing too outrageous, but I will definitely be going for a ride this weekend. It's been a while since I've been up to FotM, so maybe my cousin and I will make a trip up north for some tasty wings [thumbsup] So if you see a silver/black s2r and a *COUGH*harleysportster*COUGH* give us a wave :) Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: ryandalling on October 09, 2008, 12:07:51 PM We always waive... even if its a scooter going by. [thumbsup]
Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: krolik on October 09, 2008, 09:22:09 PM I've heard that those spiked ice tires have more traction on the ice than race tires on asphalt. I dunno if that's true, but that's what I've heard. [moto]
Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: ryandalling on October 10, 2008, 06:26:44 AM Them spikey things don't go over far enough to get a good lean on though.
Title: Re: Anyone going riding this Sat? Post by: duc_fan on October 10, 2008, 01:35:39 PM Them spikey things don't go over far enough to get a good lean on though. Didjoo watch those videos? That's some pretty decent lean angle considering the surface they're on... I mean, they're not over at 50-plus-degrees like MotoGP riders, but they're definitely not upright.
