Title: Stainless welder in MD?
Post by: angler on October 09, 2008, 11:52:07 AM
I have a small hairline crack in my exhaust where the bracket is welded to the right side pipe just behind the right side peg.  Its about an inch long and barely wide enough to fit a piece of paper.  Does anyone know where I could get it welded up for cheap?  I plan to replace the exhaust in the near future so I might just leave it leaking if I can't get a cheap fix.  May just plug it with some exhaust gunk.  The cat delete headers  came with the bike so I don't know who made the headers.

you may want to head over to RAM Cycles ( www.ramcycles.net ) and see what they can do for you as they can provide a variety of services....but you may also want to ask around at various muffler shops....just food for thought!

I can weld stainless, mild steel, aluminum, copper/nickel, brass, dis-similar metals, and just about anything else using MIG, TIG, SMAW, and etc and would love to do it for ya; however, I don't have any machines any more.  :-\ I'd recommend TIG for this. Should only take a good welder a few minutes of prep and a few additional minutes to weld it.

I was at RAM yesterday picking up wheels that I had bearings installed on and talked to Alex and he said he could do it no problem!

Thanks all.  I was actually certified on a few welds years ago and put myself through grad school in a muffler and fab shop.  I know it would take me more time to prep than it would to weld, but I don't have any tools either.  This week will involve several shop trips, so maybe I'll add visit to RAM to the list.
