Title: Backfire Issue.
Post by: Super T.I.B on October 10, 2008, 06:27:22 PM
On the way home from work today, fueled up just before getting home and started the bike (05 620) up. It is pretty temperamental when it is running warm (around 105 deg C) and I need to rev it to take off normally. Well this time, she went BANG and I didn't think it was me at first and I rode away.

Anyway, I get to my front gate and get off, and it stops. Has happened before so I don't worry about it. Get back on and start her up and go to put her in the garage, rev it a little and BANG,BANG. Yep, it was my bike alright.

What would/could cause this? I took the horizontal plug out and it looked a little white so this afternoon I might go get some new plugs.

Anything else that others can input would be greatly appreciated.

P.S I have posted this in Tech as well.

I didn't really notice. But when I change them, I will have a look see.

On the Tech section, it was suggested that I had water in teh fuel. As I wasn't down to near MT, I can't really think that that is the prob?  ???

Fouled plug!

My bike did last month. I was riding the bike all day but doing little trips. What I found was the bike was in warm up mode and sitting at the lights whent to take off and there was no power. Got home found plug had spat the dummy.

Funny though the bike wouldn't run on the second plug properly (dual spark)

it wont be water they just die and wont start if its water , is it fuel injected if so sounds like its running very lean which causes the electrodes to burn then giving you weak spark , spark plugs should be brown to nearly black running around the streets , and when on the highway should be a light tan coulor ,

Yea I was. Did 200ks.

Filled the bike up at Albion Park and looked down at my right leg :o :o :o OIL!

Found one of the fluid joints to the oil cooler was loose pissing oil out everywhere! :'(

Thought I better high tail it home to clean up. Oh and the huge mother of a storm chasing us from down South! :o

Shit I had oil on the back tyre and no rear brake either! No good if it rains.

So here I am helping you out! [thumbsup]

If Vince went South he probably has a wet arse now! ;D

Fark Me Rob! Lucky boy! Or should I say unlucky?

Went and got some plugs. Bike still hesitates when taking off when bike is warm but did not backfire. I hadn't changed the plugs yet, this was on the way home.

Thanks anyway.  [thumbsup]

I once had water in the fuel in my HJ Premier  ;D and it just did not want to go. That's why I was thinking it would not be water/fuel. I won't find out if it's any better till Monday arvo after work so we will see how she goes.  [thumbsup]
