Howdy guys (and gals),
I've been a member of the old board for over four years and have been hanging with the NMMR crew for the last two, but I find myself being transferred to beautiful Honolulu! I will be there in August and cant wait to meet the local crew and get some rides in. I'm hoping that there are some nice rides on Oahu that dont involve dodging tourists! wt:
Dodging tourists? We have tourists here?
Aloha! So when's the bike coming?
be afraid, baby. be very afraid ;D
of course, if the NM boys are anything like us or the MOB, then you'll fit right in ;)
I hope you like hundreds of miles of perfectly paved twisties. Or, I hope you have liked. That way you'll have fond memories while punting around our little rock. wt:

So true, so true. There are a few nice roads here, but you see them all pretty quick.
Is it possible to load the bike on a ferry and hit some of the other islands? My dad lives in Kona, so that would be pretty cool to be able to ride there
So far, the ferry only goes to Maui. We are half-planning a volcano run up Haleakala sometime. Hawaii SHOULD be the next stop, but I don't know when yet. There are other options, but they involve not having the bike for a little while.
Or you could swim with it. ;)
Stand-up paddling. with an extra board for the bike. A real man would do it. wt:
Or make a hybrid motorcycle/wet bike. Rig up some paddles to the rear tire and some floats to the front wheel and your feet.
Okay:
Ride up the side of Diamond Head REAL fast, and jump to Maui. Then ride up Haleakala REAL REAL fast and jump to La Isla Grande.
It's so obvious. wt:
Brilliant!! But first, sneak onto Pearl Harbor, requisition a few motors from the fleet SAM depot and rig up a rocket assist on the bike!
test --- session has been timing out
Hey! You passed your test!!! Congratulations! ;)
my smileys arent working right. :(
Mine weren't at first, but they are now.
Well, the bikes on the boat, so I should have it in 4-6 weeks :'( That's a long time with no ride!!
Dude, welcome back. Are you on the island already?
Thanks for the welcome! I havent been too active here as I've been incredibly busy with the move, etc. I'm leaving the mainland on Wednesday and will be in Honolulu Wednesday evening. Couldn't be soon enough!
Well cool then. I take it you have a place squared away to stay while you house hunt?
Yep, all squared away. The company's picking up the tab for my hotel until I find a place, so of course I will be in a huge hurry to find something! [roll]
Where do they have you staying? And mind if I ask what "company" you work for?
So... Any updates on your arrival?

They put me up at the Ala Moana hotel, which was an awesome location actually. Don't hold it against me, but Im a lowly federal employee! [leo]
I moved into my condo 3 weeks ago, and my shit finally got here last wednesday, so I've been unpacking for the last week. It's amazing how hard it is to fit all the stuff from a 3200 sq/ft house into a 700 sq/ft condo!! [bang]
lol It's all good, Tristan and I are military, and Teddy works at the shipyard.
I would say welcome to the island, but I am in DC at the moment. Guess I will have to welcome you when I get back. ;)
drinks! this calls for drinks!
;D
+ many! [thumbsup] [thumbsup] [thumbsup]
