Title: 07 S2R1K - Is their something in my udder ? Post by: ProTeal55 on October 13, 2008, 09:33:53 AM So I have been cruisin the bike around for the past 3k or so miles with the udder open (no mufflers).
I like the sound, but I def. would like it louder. My question is, if I were to cut the udder open down the middle is their something inside of it ? I come from the HD/Race car world so the open udder (as it stands) is not loud to me what so ever. Their is no way my open udder is nearly as loud as say someone with a full termi kit (and no baffles). Some dude down the street from me has a full Zard kit (with no baffles) and his bike is twice as loud as mine with the stock udder.. Title: Re: 07 S2R1K - Is their something in my udder ? I had slip on termi's with the stock udder, and it was very quiet - all I could hear was the intake honk. Replaced the udder with a straight through midpipe and the sound volume felt like it doubled - in a good way [thumbsup] I ran the bike briefly with midpipe only, no mufflers, and it was deafening - and not all that sweet sounding (like some hd's)

I mean, their has to be becasue my bike is no where near as loud as most of the other Monsters that are ripping around the city with full/open systems on them. Cored stock pipes with a bypass header are louder and a much better sound than just the udder and flow much better. I went through all this on my old 04-S4R. Or take the udder off cut down the weld seam with a die/pencil grinder, core it out like Capo did the one in the pic. and core your mufflers and then put it all back together. It will sound great and not be obnoxious. You know like those straight piped POS Harley's that handle like crap are slow, but raise the dead loud. The issue is I want the bike to sound like say someone with a full open exhaust, but want the rear wheel to be exposed as well. Prob. going to take the bike to my chasis shop buddy and have him make me up something funky/one off using the stock pipes (just remove the udder and use the stock pipes). When I installed the QD midpipes on my bike I turned it on w/out the mufflers and OMG!
