Title: Sil-Moto header (With Pics-FINALLY !!!!!!!!! )
Post by: dansamp on October 16, 2008, 06:31:18 AM
Well I finally got my Header for my '95 SS but I need to find some plugs for the threaded
Lambda probe holes .
does anyone have any suggestions how I can plug them up??

I thought about removing the ones from the stock header but have a feeling it will be difficult to remove

can't wait to put this header on
I was surprised at how little it weighed  [laugh]

Dan......... :o

if they're the small std ones the thread is a 1/8 npt or gas, straight not tapered.  it's almost m10 x 1, but not quite.

if you're talking about what a normal lambda sensor goes into they're m18 x 1.5, which is the same as many european car sump plugs - wurth sell them as sump plugs.

This is with the DP high mount cans
I will install my N.I.B. set of high mount Termi's once I get the carbs readjusted and dyno'd  [thumbsup]

Dan..........

I am a little worried at how close the pipe is to the crankcase
it seems to touch in two places

I have e-mailed this concern to Mark at eurocorsa but have not heard back yet
anyone have any thoughts on this ???

It's definitely way too close.  I think you're going to have overheating issues, as well as metal fatigue in all the load bearing members along with the possibility of excess wear in your strut mounted manifold dampening indicators.  My custom, one-off, pre-fabbed, liquid cooled crank case has an indention built specifically for these headers.  I wouldn't have a problem taking them off your hands and testing them while you figure out another solution, just let me know.

These headers are a PITA.

I could not get mine to fit correctly and finally broke down and had an extra few inches added to the V-cylinder pipe.

We'll see later this week if it fixes the problem...

Drunken Monkey,
do you have any measurements ??
I am thinking if the front pipe that goes under the crankcase was more horizontal that might be better
if you extended the rear cylinder longer then you will lose some ground clearance and possiblely fairing clearance
if you have a full fairing
Mark at Eurocorsa forwarded my pics to Sil-Moto so hopefully they will respond
hope it works I would hate to have to get the full Termi set for 4k  :P

don't forget the ST2 cams with adjustable pulleys
and the short Mallossi manifolds
and 41mm FCR's   ;D
pumping out 97 HP to the rear wheel !!!

I am hoping to get over 100 HP with the header  [thumbsup]

OK,
update on the clearance issue
I stopped by West coast GP cycles yesterday and spoke with Andy
he said I should have no problem with the pipe touching the crankcase
he said he has a bike he has raced for 3 years what also has the pipe touching the crankcase and
has not had any issues with it
I even asked about wrapping that part of the pipe but he said don't worry about it
so it's off to the dyno  [cheeky]
I am going to install the Termi's and post some more pics
