Title: RTP DMF Meet-up thread.
Post by: superjohn on May 09, 2008, 08:35:59 PM
I'll assume from Dave's respons in the other thread that he's in.

Anyone else want to meet up for drinks, food, and general BS ?

I'd suggest Brier Creek since it's somewhat central. The Wild Wing Cafe is pretty good. It's next to the Ale House.

Anyone else in?

Pencil me in as probable.

I still don't know what my summer school schedule's going to be, but I should be able to make it.

I'm out.  I posted in the other thread, but I'll post here too.

I'll be in Myrtle Beach that week for a golf tournament.  Hardley week is unfortunately that week, too, but it provides some really good entertainment.

So, how about we meet up someplace this Thurs (05/22)?  Doesn't have to include food and/or drink you know!  Weather looks to be great.  Nothing special going on anywhere else.  My wife is out of town.  Bike's running great even if it's not the cleanest it's ever been.  Why not ride?

Just say when and where. The only issue I have is all the damn traffic in the evening that makes riding anywhere annoying.

How about meet at Barnett's at 7:30 - 7:45 and then decide: eats or ride.

Speak up people!

Yeah, I'm up in n raleigh, but it's a nice ride around there and totally worth the trek.

Duration:  I haven't taken this exact route before, but google thinks 1.5 hrs -so probably *1 hour in reality* as long as we don't get caught behind a boat or something.  We can keep riding after that, but I wanted to have something with a definite start and end point for anyone that has a time limit.

Here is a rough approximation of the route:

Note (in case someone takes this route on thier own): point B is a bridge that will send you over the bars if you hit it at speed, but it's fairly easy to spot on the approach.

BTW: you shouldn't have much trouble spotting "the old gas station" -there isn't much around that area except a couple of houses and the crossroads.

In any case, PM me if you need my phone#

I was just out that way putting some testing miles on the Monster after changing out the tires and brakes and must have missed you. I saw a 996/998 on my way out, was that Sparky?

I'm going to do a loop of Shearon Harris tomorrow (24-Aug).  If anyone is interested meet me at the old gas station ("New Hill Grocery" ?) on Old US 1 near New Hill Rd at 11am:

Crap! I wish I'd seen this yesterday.  I wound up going out by myself late yesterday afternoon and doing about 100 miles.  If I'd seen this ahead of time I'd definitely have joined up!  If anyone does anything next weekend (8/30-8/31) definitely post up or PM me. I'd organize something myself but I still have no idea where the good riding spots around here are.

Despite a few detours, we had a good ride, there are some fun roads out there!  I am down for doing it again next weekend too.  Just need to plan a bit better route.   [moto]

Count me in as long as the weather's good. Afraid I won't be much help with the route though.

I am sure we can figure something out.  Google satellite maps can come in handy.

What's the latest on the run this weekend? I have some things to do here and there but I'll be looking to put some miles on at some point (actually probably several points) this weekend and this looks like a fun route.

I'm working on scheduling and I'll keep you posted. Looking more like Sunday but possibly Monday. I usually go earlier in the morning to beat heat/rain chances.

Sounds good.  Sunday and/or Monday actually work better with my schedule anyway.

Looks like Sunday is the plan. For those of you in Morrisville interested in meeting up, there is  a gas station at the intersection of 64 and Farrington Rd. Turn rt off 64 and I'll be there. I'd rather be earlier than later so I shoot for 830 but 9 would be fine if its a problem.

Either works for me.  I'll plan on being there at 8:30 unless somebody posts up otherwise.

Just Shane (Paradux) and myself.  Met up down on Farrington and 64 at 8:30 this morning and I got home at about 11:30 or so.  We only made one stop, the rest was all seat time.  Good roads, great weather.  It was a good time.

I'd have joined you guys, but my work weary eyelids didn't part until well after nine o'clock.

I wasn't counting the turtles but I can remember at least 4 without even trying hard.  That was pretty strange!
