Title: Confused about gear sizes
Post by: Bun-bun on October 18, 2008, 09:36:31 AM
Does anyone know of a chart that will tell me what size jacket/pants/track suit I should be looking for?
All I can find are charts that convert euro size to U.S. size, but since I don't know my U.S. size, they're useless.
I appreciate any help.

Check out New Enough (http://www.newenough.com/). The individual products have sizes in Euro sizes and inches.

NewEnough will also post their thoughts on the sizes - if they run true, smaller or larger.  So +1 more for using them as a reference for getting a more accurate idea of the manuf size in relation to measurements.

If you haven't gotten your US sizes figured yet - take a trip to your local dept store that has a decent mens section - one that will measure and mark suits on site.  If they are not busy,  they should have no problems running a tape around you for your sizes.

Related question, shoe size, namely in Sidi.  [roll] I really wish there was a standardized shoe size in the US.

I can't even remember all the different sizes I wear from the different brands anymore. I got some Fei Yu martial arts shoes (usually worn by wushu guys) that are 41 I think. I think my Redwings are 7 or 7.5. I'm wearing a pair of Bass  size 7 wide right now. I wore Adidas martial arts shoes w/ no arch supports for like 3 years straight (as my daily shoes) and screwed up my feet.  [roll]

I THINK the FeiYu is Euro sizing so I guess I'd get a 41 Sidi? Why can't everyone just use Euro sizing.  [roll] In some products like jackets all the Americans did is reduce the size number by 10 to make people feel better...  [roll]

Fixed.

Which Sidi?  I wear a 8.5 in US.  My Vertigos are 41 and are snug and comfy.  But a 41 in the Vertigo Corsa was WAAAAY too tight.  FWIW, my Alpinestars WEB boots are also 41.  :-\

my shoes/skates are usually 8 or 8.5

my sidi style B boots are 41, and fit perfect, if I'm wearing their coolmax socks. thicker tube socks and she gets a tad snug. 42 was too big for me.

Boots are made on either Molds or Lasts.

Europeans seem to have a variance as far as let's say a size EU 47 Boot. For some it would be a US 13, others it would be 13 1/2 and UK it would be about 1 size smaller, a 12.

For some EU brands a size 48 is a US 14 while others it's a size 13. Some it's a size 12 1/2 .

It is very confusing and also some EU sizes run narrow even though they say D medium width while others are true to what one considers a medium width in a US Boot.

I was talking to the Rev 'it Rep today about getting one of thier top of the line ,leather ,sport bike Jackets and told him I wore a size EU 60 but couldn't find anybody w, one for sale.

The Rep said that they only make them as large as an EU 58 and that they run small. ( Rev 'it  for those who don't know is a Motocycle Apparel Company from Holland ).

I know if I buy a Dainese size EU 60, leather, short Motorcycle jacket it will fit me perfect. So I can buy those on line.

Any other brand and I'm taking a chance when I order on line except Ducati EU sized leather which is made by Dainese.

It takes some time and effort to find a brand you like that fits your body .

But the most important thing to remember ...GET your gear...WEAR your gear ...ALL the timse  !!!   Dolph
