No, it's not a joke. Cyberdyne is building an exoskeleton named HAL. The fact that there is a company named Cyberdyne in the first place is worrying; naming their groundbreaking robot after an evil AI is just icing on the unfortunate-naming.

I've seen the HAL vids before. They're pretty old, actually. There's an American company that is much farther ahead in terms of military application of exo-skeletons.
