Title: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Gone Ape on October 20, 2008, 08:23:16 AM Saturday night, got hit by a retard on the freeway [bang].....took out the front wheel, hit the pavement, multiple fractures in left clavical, possible cracked ribs, whiplash, etc. etc. etc. Bus ride to Brackenridge ER...wheeee!!!! Joe, you were right..."legendary nursing staff" does certainly apply [thumbsup]..
I'm at home now, bike's jammed/jacked up in th garage....and I'm bummed bummed bummed....it only hurts when I laugh (b.s. it hurts all the time)....I'll be out of work for awhile..... But let me tell you bruthas & sistas...nothing and I mean NOTHING in the world can take the place of good friends....TxDuc (Tim), I owe you a gigantic debt of gratitude for your help....Tim stayed with me, made sure I was safely out of the line of fire, picked my bike up, delt with the police, waited forever in the "hood" for the tow truck..and made damn sure my bike found it's way home....next beer's on me!!! [drink] [beer] ok, every drink from now on....!! Muchos muchos gracias, my friend..... Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! when the pain subsides, I'll be looking forward to reading your report/thoughts on the accident.........as a new rider, I'm always trying to learn from stuff like this in hopes of being able to avoid those killa cagers Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Post by: Pedro-bot on October 20, 2008, 09:24:19 AM Paul,
Screw the pain pills. Take it like a man and do more of this; [drink]. [evil] Hope you get all the insurance stuff sorted out. Glad to go hear you're able to post up and have a sense of humor about it. Get better soon, that goes for your Ape too. [thumbsup] Tim, next time you see Paul make sure you get a pic of him doing this [bow_down], as you do some of this [beer]. ;) Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Hope you get all the insurance stuff sorted out. Glad to go hear you're able to post up and have a sense of humor about it. Get better soon, that goes for your Ape too. [thumbsup] Maybe you can get back on the Duc side after this :) The Ape may not be the thing for ya [moto] Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Post by: Gone Ape on October 20, 2008, 05:58:21 PM Wow!! I take a few pain pills, I sleep and when I wake...all this love!!!
Thank you one, thank you all....THANK YOU TXDUC!!!! Petro-bot!!! Joe thats cool!!! Do we insert "booos from the crowd" here? Clearly, Pedrosa is not loved in Indy!! But I guess you are loved here in Tx, so it's all good. [thumbsup] Alvin, I just may consider your proposal!!! 4 valves have stolen my heart, so the air cooled Monsters are off a shopping list....but !! Well time to get caught up....albiet one handed chicken pecking the keyboard... Tim & I were riding home from Ivo's in the cold air that is the "rural-ness" that now defines Casa Ivo. Coming down the hill on NB 35 towards Lake Austin, as the temp was mercifully rising an accident was clearly being worked around 3rd st/ I 35...lots of emergency vehicles/lots of very visable flashing lights and what appeared to be a recently closed freeway... We came closer and it was very obvious that traffic was slowing, and there was heavier than normal car density so everybody slows...got down to first gear in the middle of 3 lanes and some moron moving waaay to fast in the fast lane catches it late and locks his brakes and spins his car right into my lane, just missing Tim, and I got hit with his rear tire area of his Impala.....never saw him coming, only heard the tire squeal a millasecond before he hit me. Tim said he performed a miracle manoever to evade getting hit too and the rest is history. Worst yet, dude had easily 200 yards in front of him to slow down, nobody blocking him, so the only deduction I have is that dude did not want to be "held up" and decided to try a hero 3 lane change to exit the freeway offramp and I was in his path...gee sorry dude, you know, to get in YOUR way and all. Front end gets taken out and I hit the asphalt, bang my head (THANK YOU ARAI!!!) break my collarbone, tweak my elbow/wrist/ribs/hip....moral of the story? wear your gear wear your gear wear your gear......helmet saved my life, period... Dude is driving with Florida d/l, Georgia plates and ....wait for it..........expired insurance card...great Police cite him for failure to control his vehicle and not having a current insurance card... he's at fault (duh) legally, so thats a positive... Tuono is all ground up on the left side...all my pretty new carbon fiber jacked up...transmission stuck in first by lever smashed into the frame, tank chipped, lever ground, fairing, radiator, swingarm, frame all marred up.....it's a lovely parting gift... So I spent my day today seeing the Ortho doc, sleeping, then trying to get info whether or not dude is insured....as of this writing, Infinity Select Insurance has not a). not heard from dude, meaning I had to generate the claim, and b). haven't even assigned a claim rep to this claim...POS insurance company... Geico, on the other hand, has been aaaalllll over this since I called it in, thank God they're on my side. I intend to only claim it on mine if dude shows to be not insured...so let the games begin!!!! Can you sing the "Sueing you mofo" blues??? No mercy...if you're gonna play, you're gonna pay.... But I'm in pretty good spirits, I know everything will be fixed, me included, it just comes down to which company.....if dude comes up un insured, it's lawyer time..... Again, thanks for the love, board...it means a lot to me....peace Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Post by: gh0stie on October 21, 2008, 07:24:45 AM dude, thanks for sharing...
SUE THE PANTS OFF THAT GUY!!!!! I'm tired of all the crazy driving I witness on the freeways daily...(I refuse to ride my bike on 35 and Mopac.........only the feeders) Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Red5 on October 21, 2008, 10:59:55 AM Yo Paulie,
Crap, man, sorry to hear about your freeway accident. It's bad enough that the driver hit you, but now his insurance coverage is questionable too. Good luck on that end, I know how hard it is to get reimbursement from someone with little/no coverage at all. Best you can hope for in this case is that the police throws as many citations at him as possible, and that the lawyers go at him from all angles. Keep up the good spirits and heal up quick. Let's hope that bike is salvageable. Gotta get you back out on the road as soon as possible. Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Lorenzo on October 21, 2008, 12:50:59 PM hey Paul, so sorry to hear that man. Glad you are ok though... Get batter man!
Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Gone Ape on October 21, 2008, 05:37:12 PM Thanks for the kind words everybody.....gonna try to get the bike in for an estimate soon, so we can get an idea how to move forward,,,,,stay tuned!!
Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: El Matador on October 21, 2008, 07:04:18 PM Sorry to hear about this dude. Glad to hear that you are more or less ok.
Maybe this will mean you will join the ranks of the ducatisti again? Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Porsche Monkey on October 22, 2008, 04:31:07 AM Damn Paul, I don't know how I missed this. I am glad to hear that you are in good spirits and doing okay. Sorry to hear about the bike. Great to hear that Geiko is working with you instead of against.
Get well soon, Jon Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: hiero on October 23, 2008, 08:12:59 AM sorry to hear about the accident! glad you're ok, maybe a short getaway in the hill country may make your injuries feel better? ;)
Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Gone Ape on October 23, 2008, 09:37:21 AM Man, I would love to get back on it....the collarbone says NO, no, no....
I will be back in the saddle as soon as possible you can count on it!! The hardest part now is all the insurance/doctor/paperwork b.s.....but the pills are GREAT [thumbsup] Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: spaceghost65 on October 24, 2008, 07:00:14 AM Paul, I've been out of pocket, I'm sorry this happened. Let me know how i can help. I hope things are getting better.
Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Gone Ape on October 24, 2008, 05:05:21 PM Well kiddies, ONCE AGAIN my friends take care of me....RipTearShred came to my rescue and
took the Tuono down to AF-1 today.....and worked for food and gas.....Thank you Rich, you don't know how much this means to me..........even though you are apparantly a cheap date!!!! and the diagnosis is.......TOTALLED Great......not pleased at all. And to add to the fun and frolic, it looks like the Terd who sideswiped me doesn't have insurance (alledgedly), left a fax number as his contact phone number with the cops, as well as a "funky" military address for Ft. Hood that looks incomplete. >:( >:( On top of that, His company's agent notified my agent yesterday that there were "coverage issues" and requires them to further investigate but we alllll know that translates to dooooooschbag's gonna get some legal thrown his way. Bastid. I think the Army uses Levenworth to deal with degenerates, don't they? Geico has been phenomneal...freaking all over it, but I wanted (and rightfully so) his ins to pick up the tab....translation: We Gonna Jack Yo Rates Boy Come Re-Up time...heh heh heh.....more to follow, sigh... :-\. Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Pedro-bot on October 24, 2008, 05:20:36 PM Dammit! Sorry to hear about the bike Paul. :P
Douche Bags SUCK! (http://www.motohouston.com/forums/images/smilies/angry7.gif) Is the bike worth buying back? I know you're pretty handy with a wrench. Just saying. ;) What's the word on the clavicle? You going under the knife? Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Gone Ape on October 24, 2008, 06:47:13 PM Clavicle = 3 breaks a few floating chips No Knife [thumbsup]
Doc is with Texas Orthopedic Group and is connected with UT/Toros/Baylor sports teams....he says out of 100 he sees he only "needs" to operate on 2. Since I'm not an interior lineman with the Longhorns and must play next week, rest and relax should do it......so i guess since the bones are not showing thru to sunshine...I'm golden. Dammit, I guess the Bol D'or will have to wait until next year!!! Hey Dr. Joe....need a pros opinion on collarbones/aftermath and riding a superbike style (RSVR) seating arrangement....I wonder at my age if I'm gonna retain strength enough to support myself on clip-ons....What do you think?? I'm gonna have to see how the Adjuster presents the offer first...too many variables at this time to see if I'm gonna keep the bike...wink wink.. Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Pedro-bot on October 24, 2008, 07:39:05 PM That's great news Paul. One less thing to worry about. Trust me on this, being in a hospital can be more dangerous than riding a motorcycle. :-X You didn't hear that from me though.
Paul, at your age the only thing I would think safe for you to ride is a wheelchair. LOL [cheeky] Kick 'em while they're down my pops always said. [laugh] I heard Ducati is making a hypermotard. :P Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Gone Ape on October 24, 2008, 09:05:48 PM If Ducati had a Dealership as Aprilia does w/ AF-1 there would be no question.....
I have a clash of creative differences with Ducati Austin, but that's just me speaking... I prefer a certain style of customer/franchise interaction and even after all the rope I've given, I'll never go back....they've earned their rep w/me......just one man's opinion. Any and all Supermotards spell one thing & one thing only to me :: Highside.......at speed on asphalt..... Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: azoomm on October 27, 2008, 08:02:37 AM :( I'm so sorry to hear about the fly and slide. Though, I'm so VERY glad you are (for the most part) ok. Great seeing you yesterday!!
Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: ducky on October 27, 2008, 03:45:12 PM Hey Paul, sounds like you have the opportunity to mod that totaled Ape to something really cool during your down time :) The 1100 Monster looks pretty good as well ;D to replace that totaled Ape!
Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: scoobydoo on October 27, 2008, 05:59:00 PM Bus ride to Brackenridge ER...wheeee!!!! Joe, you were right..."legendary nursing staff" does certainly apply [thumbsup].. WTF, When I got my bus ride to Brackenrids I got 2 nurses - one was about 150 years old and the other was a dude. Seriously .. hope you heal up quick. Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... That was a rhetorical comment I made about the hypermotard. [cheeky] Ya, they're pretty much just a wheelie machine made for hooliganism. I can't afford such bravado. The silver lining on this whole thing is that you my friend are finding yourself in the midst of a great time for motorcyclists with new models being released lately or soon. Also, the timing couldn't be better for shopping with the MC show coming to town in a few weeks. Not a bad way to spend some down time. [thumbsup] Damn, I'm feeling the love here folks!!! Hope you are feeling better! I havent been checking the board much lately since I cant ride and dont want to tease myself. The mojo might have followed me up here as I almost became a hood ornament on an F-250 over the summer. Scared me off the bike for a few weeks. Hope things are good. LMK if any of you guys want to come up and go ice fishing this winter. The lakes are starting to freeze over already! -Tony Title: Re: Down goes Frazier...Down goes Frazier!!! Uh, Foster, that is... Post by: Gone Ape on November 24, 2008, 05:37:56 PM Hey what up Tony !!! Nice to know you haven't frozen away!!
We had kind of a weird summer....several of us went down for the most bizaar mostly unexplainable reasons....it's all because you left!!! j/k My Aprilia's finally back in my garage (Muchos Gracias AF1.....there is no substitute for those guys!!). Now tank/tail are off to the painters.... Bodies are healing all over this town as we focus on the spring...instead of ice fishing, some of us are in the planning stages of a "Deals Gap-Blue Ridge Pkwy" tour this spring....how 'bout you load up yer Monster and head southeast ?? |
