Title: Sunday 26th DFW Ride
Post by: TresGatos on October 21, 2008, 02:52:21 PM
How about a ride for this Sunday in DFW for those unable to attend the Hill Country Ride?

I have no intention of drawing anyone away from the HC Ride.  The bigger the group the more fun I am sure.

If someone who knows the loops around here has an idea, I am game (the weather looks to be great for the weekend).

A ride with Easties would be cool - even if I have to ride up yonder to the meet. [moto]  :)

I might be in on this, I'll confirm by tomorrow evening.  I can take us on a decent ride if we need a route.  Some slab otw, but then off into country roads and a few of the nice roads we've come to love on the casino runs.  There is a nice home cookin' lunch buffet in Bonham we could eat at.  No beer I don't think, but we can have those afterwards.

I'll let yah guys know tomorrow if I can do it.

The loop would be north of dallas taking us around sherman/bonham/whitewright etc and back home, just fyi.  About 30min of slab and then on to country roads.

It depends on the "group" concencus, but I've got to ride.  I would like to see T. on the S4R as the 1098 is $ sale.  THat S4R is a beaut!  [moto]

Jester is on a groove. Sounds like part of the good roads on Swanny's Casino Ride. Cool! [thumbsup] Know Bonham pretty well. Have never eaten there but have been through Bonham a hundred times heading towards OK and AR on rides over the last quarter century. [moto] Again, I'll see what the Master Of My Free Time will allow considering the kitchen points I will burn over the next few days. [bang] Will report later.

I'm wondering how those size 58 Dainese's would look on top of that shit hot '07 1098s?? Oh, ok I'll take up the payments.

I'd have to check on my points too. I'll have to do some sweet talking I'm sure. Andi is becoming a Ducati widow. I keep telling her she needs to get one.

That loop would be about a 6 hour loop. Nice roads though. I'd love to do 82 early in the day at about 120.

6 hour loop, wow that may be a bit much.  Maybe the Sat. thing can merge the Easties and the Westies can do a South ride. What roads were on the Lindy carb ride? I have to work Sat anyway.

If westies want the 6 hour Sun, I'll go though. [thumbsup]

Actually the route Jim had planned out was a damn good ride.  [thumbsup] Maybe we could get him to send us that link again of the roads. I'm pretty sure of what they were but just the same....

Or, I do know that if we go from the SB's near Grapevine Mills Mall and head up north the roads going up to Tioga and around Lake Ray Roberts would be fun. LRR is only an hour away. The state park should have good roads for cruising but not for ripping. Keep in mind the Meuenster run route to Decatur and back. That was ok.

I'd say meet at 8am somewhere and go!  [moto]

Make sure you hit Clark's Outpost BBQ in Tioga. Awesome, just awesome. There is a reason why every car and bike club stops there on club runs! [thumbsup] [moto]

The roads you speak of are 373 out of Muenster, it dead ends into 922, west on 922 to Forestburg, take 455 at Forestburg past White Cat's "scene" then right on 730 to Decatur. Sweeper city!

The south from the Brazos River crossing to Stephenville-Dublin-Hico-Granbury-FW is a good one. Takes about 4 hours. Even get to go to the Original Dr. Pepper plant!

Its actually not 6 hours, more like 4-4.5 with lunch.  Bonham is maybe 1.25-1.5 hours from downtown dallas.  A little more time with the other riding tossed in.

Saturday is definately out for me.  Still dunno about Sunday yet.  Will know tonight.  If you guys got other routes to plan, go for it.

can maybe do a Sunday ride, need to get a good feel for the Monster before November 2nd track day.  I don't think Bonnie will be well enough to ride.  I'm probably out tonight and Saturday, I gotta be a better dad.  Its wife and kids time for me this weekend.  Hope you all have fun tonight.  And apparently I'll be dieting....I don't know Eagle Canyon's or Ty Howard's rules so I am going to have to squeeze into some size 58 Dainese leathers (thats a sad statement)

Ok, here's what I'm thinking about. Anyone want to post an alternative please do.

Meeting at the STarbucks @ 377 & I-20 @  early around 7:15-7:30, tires rollin @ 8:00am then:

377 S. to FM 51,
S. to Hwy 67,
W. to 2481/3106 intersection w/67 turn right,
N. to Bluffdale,
left on 377 a mile or so to right on 1188,
N. on 1189 to Lipan.
At this point in the day one can decide if they want to zoom back up to I-20 N. on 1189 or
take a right on Hwy 4 back into Granbury,
then left on E. Pearl to 426/377 intersection then
back to Benbrook @ 377 & I-20.

Looks like lots of twisties and sweepers from Google Map and satellite aerials. Not sure on the milage or time but who cares. Some really fun roads is what it looks like to me.

Has anyone done this route before? CDC, I know you have a route in that area, can you post up yours?
It's all good.
Thanks,
RED

The route looks good to me as I have been waiting to hit the dinosaur - Granbury area. Have not been there since the 60's.  Early is fine to get started, but later may mean more Ducs and  warmer temps.   ;D

I like the meet better too, but just where is the SBs (they have their own section in the phone book)?

Dan,

You're killing me.

I'll be at the SB around 9AM.  If Lisa can come we can wait for her.  We can go to Granbury for lunch if we are running behind and continue on the Glen Rose after lunch. Do you guys need to be home early or something?  If we start late and just go to Granbury, we'll be back in Fort Worth before 3PM.  If we get to Glen Rose then we'll be home before 5PM more or less.  Bring water.

I'll be there early Charlie, glad you are back.

Today could not have been better for riding. The company was supberb. The pace perfect (for me at least) and the weather held off long to get a full days ride in. That was the most fun I've had in a very long time guys. Thanks for putting up with me. I will be posting up some pics of the day soon. Hey Lisa, looking foreward to riding with you again soon.

Red you were not a drag (except for your skirt and high heels) ;D  Always fun to ride with you.

Tommy rode the pregnant dog in style, sounded great and 100mph sweeps were fun.

CDC: what a lead rider, set a good pace and was conciencous of the others.

Best ride I've has so far (#3 and counting).

HC riders: know the good times are rolling and wait to see and hear the results. [moto] [thumbsup] ;D

I was trying to keep Tommy entertained but he apparently was bored when he came around me on the outside of a left hand sweeper in the same lane.  I was doing 80 MPH and he, about 100 MPH.  He tried to buy me lunch afterward because I was mad he showed me up!   ;D
