Title: Ducati...infiltrating mainstream society
Post by: mostrobelle on October 23, 2008, 01:04:41 PM
I'm an architect working on an office remodel for a client who needs some markerboards for a meeting room and stumbled across this (http://store.steelcase.com/go/products/detail/WMB/)... The manufacturer, showing the product in use on their website.  Awesome.   [thumbsup]  The product itself could benefit from some Ducati styling, however.   :P

Well my bike has the interesting "die while you're riding it" thing going on.  Not sure what to write about that on the little board.   [cheeky]  (It's got a loose connection or relay somewhere and when I hit a bump or am in a turn, the bike cuts out for a second.  It's fun.   [laugh])

Oooo. disappointment.

Steelcase owns IDEO. You'd think they could do better than that.

what?  are you suggesting that the whiteboard should have "schedule hd agusta for tune up" written on it?

Soon it will be a list

1) Schedule Ducati for Tune up
2) Put kidney up for sale
3) Buy BST Rims.

<WARNING> < Design-geek talk ahead >

The design of the board is ass. b0ring, with a hint of 1980. For a company that owns the top design firm in the world, they could do better.
Ducati written on it is the only interesting thing.

IDEO, for example, came up with a white board that then sends all info written and draw on it to your computer and saves it.
How cool is that? But for those who don't want to spent a kidney on a white board, they could at least do one that's easier on the eyes.
I love IDEO.

Check your battery connection make sure its tight. I had the same problem on mine one time. Went through the wiring harness and everything, turned out that I forgot to tighten the Battery cables. Simple as that.

<HIJACK OF MY OWN THREAD>  Checked it and the harness.  I think the problem is a bad relay, based on my sleuthing and Desmoto's familiarity with this type of problem.  I'm trying to reproduce the issue consistently to narrow it down.  I might just buy a new relay and try it out.  It's cheap enough and a very likely candidate.  Thanks for chiming in though---I do appreciate it!   [thumbsup]

"...only the idiots are breeding..."
(-Green Day)

I worked with this famous multi-millionaire goldsmith once in Europe. He had several "families" of his own seed scattered about the Tuscan country side, all of which he maintained with every comfort. A mutual friend asked him once about his habit of hooking up, having children, and then doing it again and again with new women.

His response was, "...Us geniuses are very few, we have to spread ourselves around a bit more."

Men, we have work to do. We must continue "infiltrating" main steam society.  [cheeky]

When mine got ripped off I had that problem. It was in the harness. One of the contacts inside was slightly bent (from being hotwired). Everytime the bars went left, it would push it slightly and the I'd lose all power. Disconcerting.

I tried futzing with the relay and I can't get the bike to lose power.   :-\  So maybe it's a bent wire somewhere.  Very disconcerting, indeed.  I'm gonna steal Enzo's relay when he's out of town and see if that fixes the problem--just to try it.   ;D

All right--back to mocking enginerds.

Try bending / pulling the harness connector under the frame at the head?

Ahh ya. +1

I had this same thing without it get stolen.  My monster was pinching a wire every time I turned the bars. It was an ultra-quick fix once I found it.
