The changeover point on ducs from drain to charge is ~3700rpms, and I generally don't buzz around above that, hence why I'm going with the larger batt. For a 4 cylinder normal compression, the smaller one is fine. For anything high comp, you'll want the larger one. chopping off the rear section of the steel frame, and fabbing an aluminum one is going to be a large chunk in and of itself. I'd estimate around 15lbs can be saved back there, perhaps more depending on what seat/tail section I go with. It would be a great thing to keep a spread sheet going on weight saved / cost to lose it. The small pack will run a race bike for 30-40 mins, charge in under 30 minutes, and last FOREVER. It's a LI-IRON (not ION) battery. Has technology to stop discharge when it hits 2v's to prevent any memory in the battery. Lots of other features. If it's higher than 240, I'd stick with what you've got. A larger pack could be made to give it additional CCA, for a price. The battery does need to be able to crank the motor long enough to start in the first place. The smaller battery will work fine for you, the only real function of the battery is to start the bike, and at low RPM's run the accessories.
