Had a weekend in Brissy and got to take out my TRX (sorry Duc still in Syd) and like the title suggests, I still think Glorious is just that.

Yes the RNP is nice and Putty/Bells are fun, but Glorious is just Glorious.

Met a couple of Monsters at the Cafe and they need help - in dire need of de-uddering and a traydectomy.

Now where did I put my hack saw?  :)

Yep it is a great ride, as good as it gets and only a short distance from the CBD. The coffee at the top of the mount is pretty good too.
 I was up there myself tuesday last week, had one of those rides where it all just came together, you just gotta pick your times when there's less squids on the road. (same as anywhere now I guess).

note to self:

next time going to northern nsw, I need to take the bike and keep going to meet up with you fellas so you can show us the sights!

Does sound like an area that needs to be visited.
Yes the RNP is good, but my Fav is still Mac Pass, can't beat that run and you get a great pie at the end.

+1 on that Matty. I am biassed because it is in my back yard, but you have to ide a long way to better the pass. ;D

Being a Wollongong boy myself I agree with your comments WRT Mc Pass. As you well know, the tight stuff is my thing.

The good news is that the road heading up to Glorious from Wyvenhoe is fast sweepers along the creek leading up to a pass a lot like Mc Pass then follows the ridge into the Gap. If you loop back via Samford Valley then back up that pass to Glorious then down the other side back to Wyvenhoe. You are then left with the choice of heading back home via Fernvale (and pies) or around Wyvenhoe and Summerset - so many choices, so little time.

Errr..why do I need to look out for cops?, being the good law abiding citizen that I am.

Had more near misses with squids, so they are higher on my priority list. 
The cops aren't likely to try and kill me, this isn't Victoria you know.

Must be time again soon for all us QLDs to get togeter for a squirt  ;D

nah, energex, and i'm a jointer. terminating an 11kv pothead on the o/h lines and had to do a straight joint behid the guard because the designers measured the run from the rmu to the pole but not UP the pole. DOH!!!! two bloody cables too.

I work for Integral in Sydney/wollongong. Started as a fitter straight out of school about 100 years ago. I'm in network planning now, but spend a fair bit of time in system operations as well. S'pose I'm one of the twits who can't measure cable long enough to run up the pole :P

Done a bit of jointing, many years ago. Only XLPE LV & HV stuff. They would never let a future engineer loose on something important like paper or oil filled cables!

paper lead jointing is getting scarce these days, we replace consac and old shit like that but most of the p/l in the ground that's been there for 30 years will outlast the xlpe we put in today. still get lots of wipes in though, when we cut and turn it into a pillar and extend with xlpe we still have to plumb an earth on. amen to that too, cos i haven't done a bitumin filled lead sleeve in yonks, it's all boats and resin these days. there's no way roll springs and jubilee clips are going to last like a decent lead wipe, not in our soil anyway, oh well, i'm on hols in a week and i'm off for a decent ride!!!!

Yep, you got that right. we've got some oil filled 132 kV cables that are fifty years old and as good now as the day they went in. Those old guys knew what they were doing.

Sunday the 16th sounds good will let ya know as time gets closer if weather is really good (no wind) then chances are i'll be playing in the water.

Whoo hoo, 16 Nov works for me too. It'll be on the TRX 850 but better than nothing I say.

I'll be heading up from Fernvale hope to be at the Servo there by 0800. Head up the hill for coffee @ Glorious then onto where ever.

Need to get back home by midday as I've got months of chores to catch up on.

Sorry mate, didn't look like anyone was really keen, so have organised myself to go on the DOCQ run up to Jimna via KIlcoy, meeting at caltex carseldine at 8 if you want to come on that ride.

Heading out with my neighbor instead, at least he's dependable.
