Title: Little ride Sunday morning (Sydney)
Post by: mattyvas on October 27, 2008, 10:28:51 PM
Anyone up for a little run Sunday morning.
RNP will be busy with cyclist doing the Annual Sydney-Wollongong.
So I'm thinking Mac Pass and home by 12-1pm.

Nothing fancy really, no maps just a meet up once I take a look at the Cycle map so I know what to avoid.

Who's up for it?

BOM (http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN10064.shtml) says maybe rain, but if it's dry I'm in like flynn.

Sorry Matty. Would love to, but the domestic authorities have me working on a little renovation project at the moment [bang]

Suggest you avoid the RNP and anything North of Bulli Pass. If you can, get into the gong via Picton Road and Mount OUsley - watching out for the new noise thingo and speed camera half way down >:(

If I can get away to join up I will, but does not look good at this stage :'(

Of course will only head out if the sky is clear.
No point in riding in the rain.

Yeah keep your ears/eyes open.
If the rain stays away we'll be out for a little spin up to the pie shop.

Okay, so cyclists will meet coming back out onto the Princess Hwy just after the Shell Servo often used as a meeting point.
They then head around the left bend after the BP up the road, have a check point and most likely rest at Loftus oval.
Then head down to the second entry in the park (RNP) at Waterfall.

So we can meet st the usual Shell Princess Hwy cnr The Boulevarde here (http://maps.google.com.au/maps?hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=-34.027588,151.087632&spn=0.018566,0.038624&z=15)

Lets say 8:30am and we'll only have to deal with some traffic for a short while, once we get past the Waterfall entrance, we're off.
Head down the Old Princess, take in part of Ousley off at the top and down via Mount Keira.

You all know the usual fun, then off to the Pie Shop, should be there around 10-ish.
we'll be done and back home by Midday-1pm.

So who's up for it then?

Andy
Big T
Sydmonster

BTW Matty...awesome website...your photos are awesome...bit of an amateur photographer...so rather envious of what a pro like you can achieve compared to my meagre efforts!

BOM says chance of a morning shower but then it was supposed to rain or shower today.
So I guess we'll do a check in the morning.
I have everyone's number except Sydmonster.
Trying to find it so if anyone has it can you fire it at me.

Let's just make a check of the sky via txt and go from there, does that work for everyone?

Good little collection of people out today.
Bit of traffic for a short while going through Heathcote but nothing at all down the Old Princess.
Had the most traffic I've encountered up the Pass, got past them as quick as possible.

Here's a snap for you Jukie, more on my flickr as always.

cheers
Matty...

Hope everyone got home okay once we split up and went off in 3-4 directions.

Pretty good day.  I love the pass, alas it is a 3.5 hour round trip from my house.  I wish I could bottle some and have it as a sauce or condiment that could be consumed daily.

It was *way* colder than I expected out though. And Don, Steph says sorry for running into you at the servo(!?).

Yes I have met Steph, and i wish I was there to ride with her and to protect her from you guys, but maybe next time ;D

But who would have protected her from you? ... or should I say ... who would have protected Craig's credit card?

Good to see you back on the road too Craigo.

And Matty from your photos I would never have known there was a 696 along for the ride  [cheeky] ... and so begins the mini 696 related threadjack:

Called into North Coast V-Twins during the week and straddled my first 696, didn't get the chance to ride one but my overall feeling was that it is a chick's bike (no offence intended) - I know it has as much power as my bike, probably better brakes in a lighter package but it felt really small (even for a short arse like me). Matty's photos also show it to be shorter than the 'old-style' monster. The other thing is that it was quite uncomfortable to sit on from a blokes point of view (note again that I didn't actually ride it).

The styling has grown on me bit by bit, it will be interesting to see ([roll]) how the 1100 feels  ;D.
