Title: Really? 696 tank covers Post by: NAK3D696 on October 29, 2008, 05:01:18 PM Has anyone taken a look at what they are charging for the 696 tank covers? $380 a piece $760 a set I mean come on. Thats more than every carbon piece i have bought for it put together. I wish Ducati would cut us a freaking break during these economic times [laugh] It is what it is and I might wait a while to see if anyone comes out with an alternative but I'm pretty disappointed they are gouging the price like that.

I always thought CF parts should cost more than the OEM...But in the case, even after a large shipping charge, you could get a pair or CF tank panels for around $610. I dropped my baby not too long ago and need to replace one of the panels, guess which way I'll be going! I'm new and don't know which vendors are reliable other than the sponsors here. Title: Re: Really? 696 tank covers Post by: fletch696 on October 31, 2008, 09:51:16 AM wow those are cool.

I'm new and don't know which vendors are reliable other than the sponsors here. I haven't ordered from that site before. The links showed up in a different thread at some point. I'm waiting for Moto Wheels to get some in, they just confirmed they still have plans to have some manufactured. Title: Re: Really? 696 tank covers Post by: Howie on November 03, 2008, 12:34:22 PM Spareshack was a sponsor in the days of TOB and had an excellent rep.

Title: Re: Really? 696 tank covers Post by: dutchy73 on November 05, 2008, 07:33:14 AM And do I REALLY want an image of a motorcycle ON my motorcycle? There has got to be some history behind these designs, but there would be no way anyone is going to want to explain it every time someone asks, "What's with the flowers?"
IMO, they got the 80's tank covers right. But these, I just don't get. Obviously, not for me, but curious to see who these are intended for. Title: Re: Really? 696 tank covers Post by: fletch696 on November 05, 2008, 07:36:08 AM it has to be chicks.
Title: Re: Really? 696 tank covers Post by: dutchy73 on November 05, 2008, 07:42:30 AM it has to be chicks. That might be the intent, but I can't see many woman riding Ducs, wanting to put those on there. I mean, how many of those do they really expect to sell? But to each his/her own, I suppose. I just wish DP would supply some non-painted or blank panels for a lower price and I can get them designed/painted how I want. Title: Re: Really? 696 tank covers Post by: minnesotamonster on November 05, 2008, 11:29:12 AM $760??? Take em off and get em painted. You could get the color you want or even a cool custom job for way less than that. That's rediculous to pay just for a color swap, jeesh.

Is there any infringement laws that prohibit them from doing that? My girlfriends uncle has a plastic company but they do fences and misc items. If i could get him to do them for $400 anyone interested? ;) I really dont want to paint the red skins. they look so good [bow_down] And yes i took off the reflectors . Much better. Where is the best place to move the sticker?
