Title: Any of these magazines ok - other suggestions?
Post by: stopintime on October 30, 2008, 03:27:06 PM
Winter is almost here, and I need some literature. (Yes, I will read Total Control.)

The British/US magazines in shops here are:
      American Iron Magazine
      MCN Motorcycle News
      Roadrunner Motorcycle
      Robb Report Motorcycling

Which do you recommend? If none are any good, do you have other suggestions that might be available for overseas subscribers?
I would like general info, not too tech heavy.

Bike and PB are both really good.  This month's issue of Bike has an article about riding to the arctic circle and back, very cool.

Consumer Reports for motorcycles.  No ads and no BS.

I talked to a retailer of tape they reviewed.  He said he had gotten a call from the mag (the caller did not identify himself as a writer) that asked a few questions and
(get this) he purchased the tape.  The mag ran a review of the tape on their back page.  Suddenly the vendor was receiving
a wave of orders.  He didn't know about the review until after the orders started coming in.

I liked his story because it demonstrated
that the info in the mag is independent.

+1 for MCN!

It was Helicopter Tape. Brilliant stuff  ;D

That is one of the few magazines I will read from cover to cover. Definitely worth the subscription.
